Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 On 2/11/2022 at 10:02 AM, Zephrun's Imperium said: Star grimaced. That had not been her intent. "Sorry. I... I can't do anything right, dammit." She got rid of the cage, offering a hand to help Pheo up. "I... I'm just... I..." She growled, holding back tears of frustration. This was getting out of hand. "Author, I hate myself." She wrapped her arms tightly around her waist, then gritted her teeth and started weeping. She hated those tears, cursing at them and drawing the hidden mordite blade so she could look at her pitiful self in its reflection. With an emphatic, "Gah!" she threw it on the ground.
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) The blade . . . Without it, Star couldn't do the deed. Faster than an eye could blink, the Corpse fully understood that Star couldn't or wouldn't fulfil their oath. She was useless. Worst than useless, she knew what the Corpse's intent was, and she was the only Narrator with the ability to control its mind. She had to be stopped. In on fluid movement, completely lacking in hatred or anger, it jabbed it's arm towards the woman's Core. If she couldn't control herself, then she would only be a liability. The alloy of decay shot through the Corpse's hand, aiming for the fatal blow against the Narrator. Edited February 13, 2022 by The Ward's Guard
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Star felt Corpse's intent change. Her eyes widened and she only had enough time to move slightly before she felt a blade jam through her shoulder. Star screeched.
xinoehp512 he/him Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Pheonix gasped, stumbling backwards. The door swung open outwards, spilling Pheonix into what was beyond...
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Shoving its former "master" to the ground for her to die in her own blood, the Corpse stepped forward with a quick, methodical step. Chasing Pheo, it lunged through the door. This madness was going to be brought to an end. Now.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 “NO!” Star yelled. Throwing out her hand, she concentrated as hard as she could and grabbed Corpse’s mind. “LEAVE HIM ALONE!!”
xinoehp512 he/him Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Pheonix fell into the Void. He felt a force blow over him, pushing him through the darkness, towards the light, towards reality once more- ---- Emily crouched behind a rock at the mouth of the cave, watching as the guards led the newest prisoner into the mines. Once they had descended below the surface, she fell in behind them. --- The guards dropped Pheonix off at the entrance to an offshoot. He peeked inside. It looked like people were already working. He cleared his throat. "Uh, hello?" he said. @Fallapede @Channelknight Fadran @The Ward's Guard Quote @Channelknight Fadran may I insert Corundum as a subordinate in Selil's empire?

Throwing out her hand, she concentrated as hard as she could and grabbed Corpse’s mind. “LEAVE HIM ALONE!!” The sudden surge of power from Star made the Corpse stumble as it saw the void that Pheo had fallen through. It tried to stop the forward momentum, but it could feel that it was too late. Getting in one last glare back towards its master, The Corpse would have to find a way to return to be sure that she was dead. Just as that thought finished, Star fell out of view, and the strange sense of weightlessness overtook the decaying body as the void consumed it. Darkness all around it, suffocating in its completeness as even the light of the door above faded, and the Corpse fell.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Star's eyes widened. Pheonix... Corpse. Both gone. She couldn't feel their minds anymore. Instinctively, she got up to go after them, but her wound stopped her, and she collapsed heavily to the floor, her bloodred cape covering her. Pain. She'd only felt pain like this once before. "No..." she whispered. "Nonononono." Tear of strain and self-hated poured down her round, pink cheeks. Corpse would kill the boy. Author, Corpse might have killed her. She inhaled sharply through her teeth, feeling hot blood run down her front. When Corpse had pierced her, her armor had been dented inwards, and now it bit into her shoulder fiercely. She had to do something soon. Have to... get... to safety. She went to the safest place she could think of. Star landed - dizzy, her world spinning - in a quaint little room she knew quite well. Her bedroom from her old house. Pictures of her, Maverick, and their children - Rose and Granite - lined the walls. Ten years she'd spent her nights here. Ten years of wonder. Now, however, the house was abandoned and dusty, the gardens outside - once lovingly tended to by Maverick Oakenwey - terribly overgrown. Yet now, the memories that this house contained barely fazed Star. She had to get somewhere before blacking out. Already, she could feel herself swaying, vison dimming. She barely managed to Narrate away her armor, leaving her in a white chemise, feeling much better without the metal in her body. Pheonix. Don't think about him. Just... She stumbled into her dusty bed, lying atop the covers. And passed out. 2

Is everything all right?"
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Vulpine looked up for a moment, but decided to turn towards the wall with a critical eye. He nodded thoughtfully as he tapped his chin, trying to look as if he knew what to look for.

They, uh, didn't tell me what to work on." -- Emily's breathed a sigh of relief as she entered the cavern behind the bald stranger. Her sister was here, alive and unhurt. Her dangerous voyage into the outside was over.
Fallapede Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Night's Blossom's eyes widened as she saw Emily approach. Her breath caught, and her heart rate began increasing despite her best efforts to control it. "Hello, Em," she said softly.
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) Hearing the shift in her tone, Vulpy turned around to see a curious sight. "Uh, no offense pal, but you don't look like you belong here." In a moment, he shook his head to clear it before smiling again. "What brings you to our humble plane intended for our torment?" ------ Glaring at the guard who came in to try and grab it, The Corpse followed the men in a tense manner. At any moment it looked ready to pounce on the poor mortals that surrounded it. However, it could sense their fear. In the way they snuck worried glances towards the creature, how they twitched at its slightest movements. They had all seen the dozen rotting cadavers it had made out of those who had tried to seize it before, they knew how effortlessly it had worked death among the mortals, the slightest injury it caused proving fatal to any. Blades and all manner of weapons had proven useless. It just needed to strike. But following them held a promise, a way of finding out who led these men who, despite all the death that the Corpse had worked among them, still worked to capture it. Whomever led them must be powerful, indeed. It wasn't long before they approached a door that could make the bravest god tremble in fear, but when one challenged the gods themselves, fear was simply not an option. Besides, such a place was built purely as a tool for intimidation. It scoffed as they men came to a standstill before the door as another went forward to announce their presence to whomever was in command, here. @Channelknight Fadran Edited February 14, 2022 by The Ward's Guard

The guard glanced over his shoulder. "Well, you might want to take a look for yourself." Selil waved the doors to open, then furrowed his brow. Was that... Star's creature?
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 The best word available to describe the creature that walked through the doors was rotting. It might have been human once, but its gender was undiscernible due to the sagging flesh that was decaying right off of the bones. The walking Corpse strode into the room with a power and confidence that betrayed its physical appearance, looking to have the strength greater than that of any man. It glanced around the room, obviously tense as it began to growl softly through its damaged throat.
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 "Corpse." Selil said, voice only half questioning. He watched it carefully. "Why are you here?"
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 "Betrayed . . ." The Corpse's voice sounded raspy, and as if it had to struggle to speak. "Betrayed . . . And fell . . . Chasing . . ."
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 "Betrayed? By whom? Narrator Star?"
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 The creature nodded, remembering the gesture to be one of confirmation. Far easier than speaking.
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 "Fell . . . Chasing . . ." It repeated. "Chasing Narrator."
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Selil blinked. "There's another Narrator here?"
