It snarled as it hit the ground, scrambling and trying to pull itself towards the skinny Narrator. It was close, so close!  And yet . . . It could hardly command its own body, every limb feeling heavy as something else seemed to be pulling them against the Corpse's will. But still, it struggled. It wouldn't be dominated, not again. It would see the end of all of these accursed "gods" and the abuse of their forsaken powers even if it cost the Corpse its life.

Every muscle in the Corpse's body tensed up as it trembled from the effort of pushing past this unseen force. Though it still couldn't so much as lift a finger, it would not yield!

"Well," said a voice from the shadows. "What do we have here?"

A woman stepped forward. A queen- her demeanor made that unquestionable.

"You are powerful," the queen murmured. "And yet... weak."

It snarled. Twisting and struggling against the woman's grip on it, the Corpse glared and seethed at the Queen.

"I will give you purpose far beyond your wildest imaginings," spoke the Queen, extending a long, pale arm and placing it on the Corpse's head.

There was a flash of dark as they were transported elsewhere.

There was a scream as the Corpse bumped into something it couldn't see, but it ignored it in its headlong rush. Meanwhile, Emily collapsed to the ground, a dark wound in her side. @Fallapede

As the Corpse jumped to strike, however, a powerful force seized control of its body, causing it to stumble and fall on the ground.

Even as she focused everything she had on trying to save her sister, a part of Night's Blossom couldn't help but take note of everything happening around her, filing it away for when she was less panicked. Night's Blossom could feel the wrongness of the wound festering, so she reached on power she barely understood, trying to remove it from Emily.

The pair appeared in an elegant bedroom. On the walls were dark vines.

The power pushed forward relentlessly, held barely at bay by Emily's own power. As Night's Blossom pushed blindly against the looming force, it receded- but only slightly. Eventually, it seemed to settle into an equilibrium.

Meanwhile, Phoenix fainted.

A large crash was heard in the empty field. Mythos smiled broadly, it had worked. he had crossed threads. The field was empty though which upset him mildly.

"take that Nameless!" shouted Mythos to no one in particular. Mythos looked around a bit. it was just an empty field in the middle of nowhere.

Mythos decided to see if his powers worked here. he reached out his hand and a glass of lemonade appeared in it, "good, good my powers work."

All of a sudden, like a light switch flipping off, everything disappeared. Mythos was left floating in an empty void.

A moment later, a tearing sensation. Mythos felt his powers surge, rushing up and exploding out of him in a ball of light- and then they were gone.

Do not return, a voice commanded.

With that, Mythos was sent back to where he came from.

The timeline is screwed up enough without this, believe me. :P

The Corpse was barely fazed by the transportation. It tried desperately to attack, but was held back. How in the world had it let it come to this??? It should have killed Star when it had the chance….

Yes, the timeline. This is in the past. You certainly could make a new character.

"Feisty," murmured the queen. "Now. What is your name?"

The Corpse felt a compulsion to answer.

Also, Vulpine should perhaps react to the events post Corpse-attack.

Oh goodness, I completely forgot about Vulpy!!!

Corpse resisted. Its rotting neck rolled, body twitching until finally it couldn’t refuse anymore. “Nnnnnno naaaame,” it answered in its raspy voice.

"Hey," Vulpy said with a grin. "Don't worry about it. Pretty sure it's-" A yelp escaped his throat at the sight of what came rushing around the corner. A humanoid with the appearance of a Corpse came sprinting for the group, its sagging flesh looking as if the slightest touch could cause the whole thing to fall apart.

Vulpine raised his pickaxe to ward off the Corpse, and when it drew close, he struck forward to lodge the pick into the creature's chest, but it shifted. Faster than Vulpine could react, the Corpse altered its trajectory to body slam him. He let out a short yelp before having the wind knocked out of him. With more strength than the rotting appearance clued to, Vulpine went flying into a nearby wall.

Ignoring the man who was obviously a character, the Corpse leapt towards the Pheo Nix to correct this mistake, drawing metal from beneath its flesh to strike against the Narrator. It aimed true for his heart, wanting to make this quick.

@xinoehp512

Everything happened in an instant. Chaos. Screaming. Vulpine had to take a moment to process. Where had that thing gone?? Who was the new woman on the floor? He’d seen some insane things in his life, but this… what secrets were here for him to discover? “Holy Mal….” he muttered.

Outside the window, birds chipped pleasantly, greeting their families and friends while inside, a Narrator slept alone in a dusty bed. Her white chemise was stained near the shoulder, cherry red with blood, but rest had restored her, at least by a margin. Star smiled in her sort of half sleep. “Mmm. Good morning, Maverick,” she mumbled, the familiar bed bringing back potent memories reinforced by ten years of repetition. Instinctively, she rolled over to give her husband a kiss, but the motion upset her wound, and she was rudely awoken by sharp pain. Her whole body clenched, a gasp escaping her lips. “Author!” she exclaimed, eyes wide. “Dear Author…!”

In that moment, it all came back to her. Pheonix, Corpse, her wound. She sat up in bed with some difficulty and Narrated a sling for her arm along with a tight bandage underneath her chemise. Altogether, her actions left her panting  slightly. This wound was too bad for her to be able to get out of bed for a while, but… Author, what had happened to the poor boy? The thought consumed her, left her heart pounding in her bosom. If Pheonix died, it would be her fault. Oh, if only she’d let Corpse kill her when they’d met. Then all of this would be behind her and she’d be with her beloved.

Star crossed her legs on the soft bed and Narrated a small breakfast for herself. Plates and a tea set laid themselves out in front of her for her convenience. With a snap, the tea poured itself, a sugar cube plopping into the awaiting teacup with a few drops of cream. A scone floated up from its place atop the platter and was dipped into the tea before making its way to Star's mouth. She chewed thoughtfully, then willed the cup of steaming liquid to her lips. It was perfect, of course. She'd had to make food for her family before... everything... and she'd gotten quite good at making meals. She'd gotten quite good at a lot of things, really. And now... it would never be the same again.

She took a few more sips and bites, then laid back down into the pillows, closing her eyes and willing sleep to come over her once more, surrendering to the depths of dreamland.

"You must have a name," the queen pressed.
