Okay. Noted. If we ever need to give someone a hemalurgic spike, we'll give it to you in earing form. (I am only kind of joking here.)

I meant earing, not needle.

"I like coming to the stores, so my dad let me bring it." she said cheerfully, and proudly. The pride was fake, but she was a pretty good actor. And her story was basically true, except for the dad part.

I had planned to keep his suspicions going for a while, but that doesn't really go anywhere, so let's skip to the end.

"Hmmm, all right." The man handed Lilliana a bag full of coins and took the aluminum. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"
***
"Yes there is." I say. "Do you have any, erm, allomantic test bottles? To test if someone is an allomancer or not?" The man looks confused. "Uh, I guess I could whip something like that up." He walks into the back.

"You're burning bronze?" I ask. "How'd that happen?"

She just shrugged. "I guess my spirit web theory is right on the money!" She said smugly. "I just grabbed a pinch of the nearest metal, and swallowed it. I got lucky."

"Huh. Lucky indeed. I wish we knew more about how people became allomancers in Era 2. The man seemed confused when I asked for a testing vial. Does that mean that people instinctively know what their metal is when they snap?  There's so much we don't know. Speaking of things I don't know, you never introduced yourself."

Gracie ran after her.

I turn to see that someone else is here too, wearing earth clothes. "Neither did you."

"Daniel." I look around. "You really think all this is real? That we're on a different planet?"

I had seemed to try and say something during the exchange with the shopkeep, but I choked up and just shut my mouth. Once he left, however, in a quiet voice, I say "We should probably check if we're Feruchemists too. Who knows, maybe we're Twinborn."

“Good idea.” I lean over the counter and notice boxes of metal plates, probably for grinding down into dust. “Over here. Everyone see if you can fill any of these.” I run my hand over all of them with no effect.

I drag my hand across them as well- when I pass over one, a copper-gold colored plate, I feel a jolt as I can feel it. "Ah! Here we go- now, what metal is this? Copper? No, that's the wrong color- uh... is it bronze? Brass? Wait. I think it's brass. What do you store as brass again?"

“Not sure. Try filling it. Slowly though, don’t want anything crazy to happen.”

"Alright..." I begin to push an aspect of myself into the metal, and a chill runs through me- literally, I feel colder. I draw it back it and I warm up, almost as if I was wrapped in a blanket.
"Huh. I'm a warmth storer- what were they called? Firesouls? Of course- I barely know anything about firesouls. At least I'm not like, Connection or something."

Huh, Firesoul. I’ve always had questions about them. Like, ff you filled your metalmind as fast as possible, could you just walk through fire?

"Oooh. I don't think it would be a good idea to try that though..."

"Uh... I don't know? This was always the more obscure side of the Metallic Arts.... Like, does this give me resistance to my own heat? If I get hot, will I just die normally? That would be a letdown..."

"We could always Cognitive Shadow you!" she said it, and then winked. "But seriously. If I die, make me a Cognitive Shadow. I want to live."

I know, was waiting to see if anyone else wanted to try the Feruchemist test. Guess not.

The old man walked back into the room carrying a couple of vials. “Here you go. Just like the vials Mistborn supposedly carried. Cept with even more metals. I suppose you’ll be paying?” He looked at Lilliana.

"Yes. Could I get a few copper vials as well?" She handed over a handful of coins, unsure about how much it would all cost. She felt kind of confused.

The man took the coins and gave a few back. “I’ll just give you a bag of powder, you can mix it in vials yourself. Easier to control portions that way, and you can carry more on you.” He hands Lilliana a cloth drawstring bag full of copper dust.

“As for the metalmind, this is mainly an allomantic shop, so I don’t have any shaped bracers on me, but I could give you some plates of brass. Very pure, would hold a charge just fine, just not as convenient as a bracer or ring.”

"Both are fine. Thank you!" she beamed at him happily, mostly a mixture of excitement that she was an allomancer, and relief that the aluminum cost a lot of money.

"Ah, no, that's uh fine." Oh dear- I don't want to go into Terris Village, but I also really need a bracer...
