"No, miss you may not," the serving lady hissed.

"'Ey, now, that's my 'Leanor, that is," said Nicolae. He grinned stupidly at her, forgetting why he'd gotten drunk in the first place.

"Oh, can it, Kimby." She hit him upside the head. "I don't understand why you girls flock to him so much. Whatever pleasure he's given you in bed, he's still a good-for-nothing, empty-brained little devil."

She has no idea who Eleanor is, BTW.

Alienor drew herself up. "Excuse me. How dare you assume! I am the king's betrothed, Princess Alienor Lumen Baudelaire of Jolie, and I would never!"

Meanwhile, in Ivian's little hospital room...

Yes, I just Narrated that. Why? Because.

Ivian paced back and forth, growling inaudibly. After a few minutes, however, he stopped.

"How long have you been in here?" He asked.

"About ten minutes or so. I do love watching you fume."

"Come on out," Ivian sighed, waving dismissively. "How'd your assignment go?"

A woman named Yvonne, one of the King's Ladies, stepped out of the shadows. "Nothing much to say yet. One of them is embarrassed and the other is drunk, so I'd say our work is done for tonight."

"Good, good. I'll start working on the first steps tomorrow once the lockdown is over. How about our... other project?" Ivian grinned deviously.

"Six months into the works, my lord. It will be ready soon."

"That's good. What's Caden doing? Is he interrogating the prisoners like I asked?"

Yvonne shrugged. "I wouldn't know. I wasn't watching him. I think an assassin pulled his attention away, however."

"Wonderful." Ivian rolled his eyes. "Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Keep tabs on those two: it's imperative that our plan works out perfectly."

"Will do. Good night, my lord."

"Good night."

Jasper didn't look back, keeping his pace as he wound through the palace halls.

The guardsmen attempted to keep pace with Jasper, but they quickly fell behind. Although as Jasper made his way through the palace, the sounds of shouting and the clanging of metal seemed to be coming from all around.

----

Caden arrived at the entrance to the ballroom, and he was met with the sight of soldiers and messengers running about every direction. An officer saw Caden approach and paled, he cleared his throat and made his way over to the High General with a salute. "Sir, how may I assist you?"

Caden allowed himself to tower over the officer, quickly checking his rank insignia  "I'm here to deal with the prisoner, lieutenant. Where is he!"

The lieutenant swallowed nervously, "uh, it appears that he has, well, he's escaped out initial attempts to capture him, sir."

Caden growled, "double your search, he is not to escape! Kill him if you have to, but don't let him out of this palace!"

The lieutenant quickly saluted, "by your command, sir."

The High General watched the lieutenant rush off to organize the palace guard only for a moment before turning around to make his way to the dungeon, his two personal bodyguards close on his heels. He couldn't realistically help the situation until they either caught him, or received additional manpower, but he could still do as the king commanded.

Knuckle cracking noises

I'll let you decided if you want Wendy to go first or not.

Caden was first hit by the smell when he descended towards the dungeon. It would have been overpowering if he hadn't relished in the scent that haunted a battlefield after the fighting was over, he could still hear the screams of the weak ringing in his ears, like a musical performance that you simply couldn't get out of your head. He pushed the thought aside as he nodded to the guards who stood watch over the dungeon and headed towards the chamber that they kept the new arrivals. Caden stopped outside of the door and motioned for the two guardsmen who stood next to it to retrieve the first prisoner.

Yes, please.

Wendy walked up to Caden, escorted by his guards. "What? What is it?"

"Silence!" Caden felt the urge to slap her, but with-held himself, for now. "I will ask the questions, and you will answer, are we clear?!"

"I suggest you leave. I'm sure anything he's done, he'll apologise for when he's coherent enough. Nicolae... you're very drunk. You might want to stop talking."

The woman's mouth worked for a moment. "Miss, with all due respect... You've only just arrived. This is far from the first time something like this has happened with Nicolae. Something has to be done about it, surely you're not going to just... let him go."

"Oh, yous'll let me go if she tells ya to, miss, I-" He cut off, feeling Eleanor's expression. "I'll'sa just shut up now, I will."

"Her name is Arabella. Where is she?"

Caden backhanded the woman, "ask the questions, so do not speak unless you're answering me!" Caden's bodyguards stepped forward to grab Wendy while Caden himself stood his ground. "Now tell me, why did you try breach the lockdown, and do not lie to me!"

I just realized that I forgot if Caden got Arabella's name during his interrogation, oh well.

"WHERE IS SHE? WHAT'D YOU DO TO HER?" Wendy didn't struggle against the guards, but stared Caden full in the face with a glare that could've churned butter. "I'm not answering anything until you tell me where Arabella is."

"She's eight years old with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was taken by the guards and I haven't seen her since. WHERE. IS SHE?"
