The moment he sat down, he popped the cork and took a swig, his long legs sprawled out awkwardly under the table. I ain't no womanizer, miss, he thought to himself. I ain't noble neither in any sense, but... He sighed and took another long draught. Had he really hoped that she might be different? Had he really had the audacity to believe that somebody - and a high ranking noblewoman at that - might actually see him for what he was instead of... Well. This was what he deserved, though, wasn't it? He was a greedy coward. Maybe being considered a mindless skirt-chaser was actually better than them knowing the truth. With a glare, Nicolae made up his mind; whoever that girl was who'd come asking for him would be sent away. Assuming, that is, he wasn't too drunk to remember.

She spotted the man she'd met earlier against the wall - Maverick? - and stood up, intending to go talk to him again. She hesitated, then made her way across the room. "Hello?"
