What I've learned right now from typing this out is that I am a complete weirdo. I'm concerned now.

Eh, don't be.

It's what happens when you hang out online with a bunch of Sanderfans all the time. ;)

I’ve never been to one of those massive parties like you see in movies with all the drinking and dancing and people everywhere, but the ones I have been to were still... not great, so you’re not missing out.

Yeah, I really have no desire to go to one.

What about other author's works?  Who do y'all relate to from those?

Oh, that's a little rough... As a kid, I definitely would have said Hermione and Annabeth, but since it's been so long since I've last read Harry Potter I don't know Hermione well as a character, and I recently reread Percy Jackson so I know I'm not Annabeth. (There's definitely a little crossover, but not much. Probably more with Annabeth than Hermione.)

I guess Kendra from Fablehaven is the only half decent answer to this for me at the moment. Some friends of mine have said that they think I'm really similar to a character from The Queen's Gambit, but I haven't seen it, so I can't say if that claim is true or false.

I think the issue with this is that any characters who are like me always end up, by the end of the story, doing something proactive, which I very likely wouldn't do. I don't like getting involved in things that I can't back out of, and the whole point of raising the stakes makes it so that the person involved in the conflict can't back out.

Novels in general are conspiring against me.

Which "The Queen's Gambit"? Because there's a really awesome book, but I think they might be talking about the TV show on Netflix.

And I definitely identify with Hermione. And maybe kind of Kendra, but she's cooler than I am.

The TV show.

I don't watch much TV, but should I check out the book?

Guys, my pins just showed up! I got the Bridge Four one and the Cosmere one! They're storming awesome! (I'll post pictures in the You Know You Are A Sanderfan When thread. They're super pretty.)

I second this question.

That sounds amazing, I love those pins!!!

Yes, check out the book. It's not like the TV show at all. It's by Beth Brower and there are three books.

Good to know! I'll add it to my (ever growing) list!

*lights book-perfumed candles*

Where can I buy these?

(As long as no books were harmed in the making and subsequent burning of them.)

Hm... For initiation...

Candles and maybe some bonfires? And then we roast smores and talk about books and try really hard to just have a fun time?

No idea, but I want some. Books smell heavenly.

No, black cloaks, candles, and a mysterious initiation where we make you confess your deepest hatreds(of books), your deepest loves(of books), and your innermost fears.

I’ve seen them online and I’ve wanted to try one, but I don’t know if I want to risk buying a candle if I don’t know what it smells like.

Yeah, that sounds fun too...

But then afterward, we do smores.

Okay, okay. S'mores sound great.

Spoiler

The smores are mostly for the sake of camaraderie that comes when sitting around a fire with people you don't actively dislike.

Wait, on one condition: We also have an arcane symbol vaguely reminiscent of books.

YES. I agree wholeheartedly. Oh, and in runes.

I think we only need to pretend we're doing an initiation, and if the petitioner backs off we could say he passed. There is more than one kind of socially awkwardness, though, so whatever you say.
