“If it is a dragon, as I have assumed, I would think it would be treated with more... respect.” Rylan spoke inquisitively.
“Most places I’ve been, dragons are revered as the avatars and, occasionally, heralds of the gods. In one empire I’ve been, even the most tyrannical and hated of dragons are built grand tombs and mighty palaces. Rarely are they left dead on the ground...”

Rylan turned to the dragon again, and spoke a short phrase in an alien tongue, nodding to the corpse when he finished. He turned to face Sef.

"Dragons weren't seen outside their mountains for years." Replied Sef. "As far as I know, they are not revered in any religion around here. How did you arrive to this tower? And without speaking Common? There is no empire anywhere on this continent."

Gal tries to follow the discussion, but clearly fails. He stands to the side, looking around him. The Shadow - Talnic - is a short distance away, walking away from the newcomer - Xeus, he was named? The one Sef warned him of. A small child stood near the dragon corpse, and it seems that Cara took responsibility of him. Minuet and Ara stood at the door of the tower, looking at Xeus. He remembered that Minuet decided going with him - something about her Grace, it seemed. Valzwyn and Orpheus were nowhere to be seen.

Rylan turned back to Sef.

”Ahh, you see, I am not exactly from around here... When that big light in the sky goes beneath the horizon, are there little points of light in the sky?”

Sef looked at him. "Yes, I know what sun and stars are. I guess this isn't your native language? Or do you think me an idiot?"

Rylan put his hands up defensively, and took a step back.
”No, of course not. You seem to be a man of great wisdom and intelligence, a speaker of tongues like myself. I have never heard a language like yours before.“ Rylan dropped his hands, and adjusted his hat before continuing.
“You see, it’s been a long time since I last saw the stars. They remind me of someone I once knew...” His expression turned distant for just a moment, and a warm smile replaced it.

Sef looks at him, letting him have a moment for himself, before saying: "If you so wish, you will be able to see them tonight. You were trying to explain where you came from?"

Visibly wincing at her words, Ni slowly turned to look at Cara. Even with the hood covering his face, the boy’s eyes that were hidden in shadow locked directly with Cara’s. In that one moment, there was a weight behind Ni’s actions; one far beyond that of dragons and innocence.

Wordlessly, Ni turned away from Cara, and stepped back from the dragon.

Moving out of the grey slush and snow, the small boy grabbed a small handful of clean white snow with his left hand, using it to wash away the dragon’s silver blood. Once his hand was cleaned, he dried both hands off on the front of his pants before placing his hands deep inside the pockets of his jacket.

Ni then looked back towards the fallen dragon, standing as motionless and still as the slain creature that lay in front of him.

"Ok..."

He's definitely unique. Cara thought. He'll be leaving me soon, though. Everyone does eventually...

Unsure of what to say, Cara asked. "Did you know him?"

Continuing to look at the dragon, Ni distractedly shook his head.

“Oh! Uh, what are we actually doing?”

Exodus nodded at Minuet, then turned to Ara. "Simply put? Saving the world."

“Oh, you see, I don’t really know. From what I can tell, it’s somewhere between the stars.”

"Hmm..." Said Sef. "We don't know much of the stars, though the Realms clearly go in their direction, like they have an area overlapping. But, I believe you still haven't answered my original question. How did you get here? There is no empire around, and though I know the surrounding area between the seas, I know of no place where what you described is right."

"Should we go right or left?" Valzwyn said, pointing at a crossroads: left was a dead-end, and right was a regular passageway.

"Does it matter? Both will be fun! Which one do you want to go down?"

“Well, I was running from prison, awfully dirty I must say, and I was caught in a dark alley with one of the nastiest, meanest guards I had ever seen, and he was about to kill me, and then everything went black, and I woke up here. I call it being Kicked. I have no idea how it works, but it does.”

Sef frowns. "You were teleported from another place? Kicked, as you said. Maybe through another Realm?"

"Perhaps I should get Val, though? I think she wanted to see us off."

Minuet nodded again and jogged off to find Val. Calling her name, Minuet entered the tower.

"Either one. I already know where they go."

"Uh... Left." She started going right. (Yep. She doesn't know which way is left, and which is right.)
