Eevee: typically female, although males aren't uncommon, female Eevees are often portrayed as cute, innocent & childlike fluff balls, (and the related tropes, such as the naivety being an act,) usually named "Eve", or after some kind of sweet. male Eevees, on the other hand, are more likely to be either the straight man of the work, (in which don't be surprised when they evolve into Jolteon,) or are in some way perverted, and usually are named "Sam" or "Tom" some other average Joe name. shiny females are very rare, (the only ones I've seen are Seriph, and misgenderisations of EEeEE), and male shines are like that high school bully in 80's films; they're mean and jerks, and push you around a lot, but the moment someone stronger than them tells them to knock it off, they learn their ability is run away.

Jolteon: often male, though females and trans jolteons aren't too rare, jolteons are either energetic speedsters, or the straight man of the bunch. Don't be surprised when they become an expy of Eeveelution Squad's Allen, though, if it's the latter.

Vaporeon: inverse to Jolteon with gender, (mostly female, with some males,) Vaporeon falls into 1 of 3 camps: "author knows about the copypasta, and thus their Vaporeon is overly romantic", "author knows about the copypasta, and defies it.", and "speaks in shout-outs and pop culture references, to the point when MissingNo. rolls around, its shtick has already been run into the ground." usually it's the first 2. Likely the healer pre-gen 6.

Flareon: tends to lean male, but there are plenty of females, Flareon are most commonly evil in some way, or at the very least anti-heroic. *cough* Solarflare (Eeveelution Squad), [placeholder, whatever that pervert's name is] (Stupid Short Eevee Comics) The Martyr/False Prophet (Twitch Plays Pokemon), Pride (Over[REDACTED] Eeveelutions) *cough*

Leafeon: mostly female, though, again, there are some males, tend to be shy, nature dwelling folk, think elves without the "better then you" attitude, or fey without being tricksters. their peaceful lives tend to be derailed by the plot looking for drama. (Solarflare from Eeveelution Squad, for example.), or they're the prankster of the bunch. or the one hiding a BIG secret. 3rd likely to be the healer, second pre gen 6.

Glaceon: almost exclusively female, tends to be the Casanova and/or Ms. Fan service of the bunch, or smug royalty. Be prepared to catch a stray ice attack if they're even a minor character, being very likely that she's the author appeal character.

Umbreon: usually male loner edgelord stereotypical wannabe knight of Cerberus, or just a shy softie. usually the former rather than the latter, they often end up in a romantic pairings with Espeon, or they're rivals.

Espeon: usually female, sometimes male, nerd/tactician type character, likely has some sort of superiority complex. tends to fall in love with the work's Umbreon, or have them be rivals. Most likely to behave like a cat, espies are tied with Sylveon as runner up to being the token evil teammate.

Sylveon: almost always female, almost always the gentle, soft, kind member, likely the healer, (if Vaporeon or Leafeon hasn't taken that role,) almost always faking their kindness for one reason or another. Tends to be a thinly veiled face-heel turn/backstabbing spy, unless the Eevees are genre savvy, in which they'll be innocent to mess with their meta allies.
