I somehow missed Knight's tag, but I read the backlog :P

Maddy followed Colonel and the others back to the boat. She had to admit, looking back at the beach, that she wasn't sad to leave this place.

I have a strange way of complimenting people.

I shall refrain from killing Vespyr because I'm very interested in how this will end.

Janice's sleep was more or less dreamless.

Had she always had those dreams with Trace? The nightmares? Could the Queen really speak to her in her dreams while Trace was there?

It had been... so long since she had gotten a legitimately restful sleep.

Vespyr was a stone, snoring softly, taking up too much space, not curled up neatly and politely.  Vespyr sprawled, still as a corpse, except for the snoring.

So, are we leaving the island?

Is Janice just supposed to track you guys down or something?

I'm going to make a map so awful that it'll force someone with actual artistic merit to make a better one

Making maps is my favorite thing!

Maybe? Or we could end up at the same place. She did know which army we were with, right?

Vespyr woke in a rocking boat, the semblance of an island in the far distance of their range of sense.  Confusion worried in the creature's face, below its new mask.  It had sworn... hadn't it landed on a rock in the ocean?  It hadn't been so exhausted that it had confused a boat for a rock, had it?  Vespyr sat up shortly.  No... it didn't know where it was.  The thought was strange to Vespyr, who had always had control of what little control it had.

"Ah, good. You're awake. I apologize for taking you onto the boat without your consent, but I thought it imprudent to leave you in the rain, and your companion seemed rather distraught. Might I be allowed to know your name, stranger?"

The colonel walked towards the boat without looking back, instead he turned to Maddy. "We're to report to the nearest city for more orders. I can't remember the name of the city, but I think that the ruling noble is named something like 'Lena.'" The colonel looked at his device, scrolling through it. He then spoke to Maddy without looking up, "uh, thanks by the way. I uh . . . don't know what came over me." The colonel was obviously lying, he had never been good at that.

At least tell Lena where you're going so she can tell Janice.

All right... now I need Knight to make Lena come over here and ask where they're going.

Yeah, Lena's left. I've got something planned later. But it's at least going to be national news about Cruz's court hearings, having finally caught one of the assassins that murdered the government. It won't be hard, at least, to figure out where Cruz is.

“I...” Vespyr stopped. The Queen... wouldn’t remember this name from over ten years ago. Vespyr needed an alias if the Queen was searching for “Siren.”  “My name is Vespyr,” it said, unusually slowly, as if hearing the word for the first time.

"A fine name. I do not wish to pry if it would make you uncomfortable, but would you mind telling me how you came to be upon that island? You and your companion seem in rather poor shape."
