Chaos he/him Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Ah yeah. The attack helicopter "joke" is a very old one. I found it funny a decade ago when I thought it was people being silly, not people trashing on trans people. 4

Chaos he/him Posted February 26 Posted February 26 We have lots of practice with anti-woke trolls. I'm sure the script would be that once we called them out on it, they would call us intolerant and then think they've won, believing that this whole "pronoun" stuff is silly. God forbid you would want to know how to refer to someone in a text based medium where you have no clue what they look like... 5

Chaos he/him Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Oh yeah, I wholeheartedly agree, I'm just saying you'd think anti-woke idiots would at least understand the utility in this clear situation where it is obviously useful. Unfortunately, hatred is very blinding. I regularly get comments on Shardcast complaining about the pronouns on the overlay. Every single one who complains has just the dumbest arguments ever. I'd love to give people benefit of the doubt, but it's just "I think trans people / people different from me are icky". That's it. 5

Chaos he/him Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I just don't get it. Even people older than me, have they never had a customer service job where you accidentally say "Ma'am" to a guy with really long hair? I have! It's mortifying! Pronouns are super practical and useful! Sigh. 2

Edited February 26 by Usseewa 1
Chaos he/him Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Because it's just making the thread longer. If I'm responding to a thread and there's no other posts, the thing I am referring to is obvious. It's just adding vertical height for no reason. It's very interesting how forum culture has changed. 15 years ago this was very standard. These days, everything is quoted, even if it's a massive post, and the response is a single line. If it's been a while, and it's not obvious what could be referred to, then sure, I'd quote or multiquote, but I like my responses compact and readable. 3

momadrac they/them Posted February 26 Posted February 26 On the subject of pronoun pins, I'm currently trying to either make them not mandatory exactly but *STRONGLY RECOMMENDED AND FREE* at my school 2

Still, there's nothing quite as annoying as a looooong quote with the most nothing response. Thanks, this makes reading the topic awful xD Just now, Usseewa said: You can quote like this. I realize that, but also, I think that looks terrible. It looks wrong, like it's a mistake. Back in MY day you pressed Reply and it opened a completely different window and you didn't have a rich text editor. You had to just know what the BBCode would render as! Yeah the forum culture stuff is interesting. Every few years the entire group of people here or Discord is different, and the vibe is totally different. Don't worry, my subjective opinions are the only true standard, and are 100% correct all the time! I'd say this is because I am getting older and more crotchety, but I honestly was like this as a teenager too--when I starting running forums, actually, which is more than half of my life at this stage.
