You had to just know what the BBCode would render as! Yeah the forum culture stuff is interesting. Every few years the entire group of people here or Discord is different, and the vibe is totally different. Don't worry, my subjective opinions are the only true standard, and are 100% correct all the time! I'd say this is because I am getting older and more crotchety, but I honestly was like this as a teenager too--when I starting running forums, actually, which is more than half of my life at this stage. True. I just find it useful to be quoted because often there are a bajillion messages when I come back, and I don't want to read through all of them, just the ones relevant to a conversation I was in.

Frankly, many of you just use the forums like a chat room, it's not that different. I much prefer it. Much easier and faster. It is easy to spend a lot of time on it though.

The discord is a different vibe though, and it doesn't really do the whole "I can have a conversation over the course of a week" like the forums can. Status updates seem to be used here a fair bit (not as much as they did in 2024) but it's mostly by a small group of people really 1
