Martin feels his heart skip a beat as darkness shutters the world around him, because living on a starship means that sudden darkness is very bad, and before that it meant that someone had taken out a generator, and that was just as bad, because no generator meant no cams, no backup, and on far too many occasions, getting locked in. "Cool," he says turning his thoughts away from that.

He ducked to the side, underneath Ayia's staff and away from the dagger. As he came into safety, he sped up time once again, striking at Ayia and hurling earthen spikes at Fehn.

He couldn't remember anything, but he got the impression that stories usually portrayed resistances as good, so he was glad for that. But he felt... empty. Without purpose.
