Aight. The Elite Core's just training rn, so if you wanna drop back into the action...

Enter's not exactly a combat-focused person. His powers would make him useful in a fight, even diminished as they are, but combat training wouldn't be to his gain.

Alright... If ayia won't attack, N'Fehn will

N'Fehn rushes Fadran to distract him in order to get Ayia an opening.

Yeah, my apologies. I've decided that I don't like making two of my characters fight. I'm tryna remedy this by only posting one character at a time, but it's still really awkward.

Fadran hurled a fireball at Fehn like the gentleman he was.

N'Fehn sucks the heat from it, trying to push the power into his arm as he struck... but, he forgot he gave his cube to Ayia. The flaming projectile stuck him across his torso and N'Fehn felt heat like never before. He rolled, extinguishing it and leaping back into a fighting stance.

Ayia leaped over his falling form, running at Fadran and dual-wielding metal rods. They exchanged blows with each other like they had dozens of times before, each remembering one anothers' style in muscle, though not mind. The clang of metal on metal rang out over the fields.

"Um," continued James. "You were telling me about your past and stuff. You... don't remember any of that, do you?"

"How am I supposed to believe anything you tell me?"

"Okay.  I guess I could try - I definitely need some kind of ability if I'm gonna get anything done."  He'll never be good at this, but he can get good enough to at least do something.  What, he doesn't know.  "What should I learn first?"

"Well, let's start with the basics." She digs in her bag for a second and comes out with a fistful of rune dust. "Hold out your hand"

"Yeah, she taught me and now I can do this!" Andante tossed her aged book away.

"You've still got a bit to go, but you're doing good! Do you still have those runes I taught you memorized?"

After a moment of deliberation, Martin obediently holds out his left  hand, palm up.  He doesn't know what to expect.  Doesn't know if magic dust is different than normal dust, and it's making him just a tiny bit nervous.

As she pours it into his palm, it feels like ash, but no different from how you would expect it to feel. Chrysler nods reassuringly. "Ok, now use the dust to trace this rune in the air."

She also takes a handful of dust out and begins using it to draw a rune in front of her.

"Mhm!" Andante drew the rune and her book came flying back.

"Good! Remind me, what else have you learned so far? I'm thinking I'll teach you a few more combat oriented ones and then we can learn how to Call a rune."

Martin follows her movements, sweeping a finger through the air.  He feels a tiny bit stupid.

"Shield, calling the book, light... and fire."

The dust hangs in the air as it streams out between his fingers, following the path. As the rune completes, it glows with an almost blinding light. "Not bad."

"All good ones. Hmm... You choose. Weapon, darkness, or ice."

Martin feels air rush out of his lungs in a disbelieving gasp, a smile trying to form.  He did it.  Probably not very well, but he did it.  "Wow," he mumbles, blinking spots out of his eyes.

"Hmm... darkness."

"Great. So, the glyph looks like... this." She traces a glyph that seems vaguely shaped like a thundercloud. "I won't activate it, since that would somewhat defeat the purpose. You'll still be able to see through the darkness you create, but there's no way to do that for others, that I know"

"Tada! Magic! So that's the light glyph, which is the simplest one to learn. Once you get the hang of the system, we can move on to flashier things like what I'm teaching Andante. Your lines are a little shaky, which is messing with the power of the glyph, but that's just a matter of confidence. Try again."

Andante drew the glyph in her book and then traced it in the air. She didn't add dust, though.

What'll it look like? Have you figured it out, or is it for me?

"Okay."  He's doing this.  He's actually doing this.  Get it right this time, he tells himself, and begins the glyph again.  A little bit slower, but that's okay right now.  Once he's got the lines good, he can speed up.

He's doing magic.

A cloud of darkness erupts out of the glyph. While Andante can tell it's there, it doesn't appear any darker than if it was a little before dusk. To everyone else around, it just became pitch black. It extends about 50 feet out.

Forgot to put that in a quote box :P
