Dearest daughter,

I hope my letter finds you well.

I have received news that you have recently returned from your long journey away. I am glad to hear of your return; part of me had feared that you never would. The multiverse is a dangerous place, especially in recent times. And I fear our last meeting ended on somewhat sour terms - it would have brought me a great deal of sadness if that were the last interaction between us.

In order to protect against this eventuality, I wish to make amends. I have recently been given the opportunity to become acquainted with a friend of yours by the name of Daolan. He is the co-leader of your little group, is he not? I have been wanting to speak with him for some time now, but have been unable to locate him. I believe that, with a little effort, the three of us can come to an agreement.

Eagerly awaiting your return,

<Wyrn's name> (Incidentally, what is his name?)

@Condensation

On the back, however, a message in a different hand was scratched out in what looked almost like dried blood. It read:

  Reveal hidden contents

Be quick, princess, or he will be dead by sunset tomorrow.

All righty then! His name... He prefers to go by Wyrn, but his previous name was Naseom. Someone else post(prefereably Fadran, but really I don't care) and then I'll find it. Or they can find it. I don't especially care right now.

"Well," Herate thought for a moment, sniffling slightly. "There's a town to the southwest, through the forest."

"Yeah, that'll..." he frowned, turning to the scroll, "where did this come from?"

He read it out loud, pausing at the end.

"It's... almost definitely a trap." Fadran noted.

Did you guys know that Wyrn is Herate's dad? I don't think so. *brow furrows in thought*

"Yes, but can we really let it be? Especially knowing that if we don't, Daolan won't survive it."

"Is there any chance you can play for time?"  Martin asks.  "Not much, but a little bit?  I can... help, but I'll need a little time to get ready."  He forces himself not to choke.  This is his choice.  His.

I'm... pretty sure that Martin isn't there, but who am I to argue with a good character arc?

"Do you think the Wyrn knows about this other message?"

I storm into the tent. Authority radiates off of me. Waves of light swirl around me. I take in the scene stoic as always. My voice is calm as I approach my friends. "It is obvious that something is going on here. Daolan is nowhere to be seen. You have fled here. What is going on and how can I help?"

"Daolan's been captured by Wyrn. We got a letter from the king, but someone else got hold of it, and now we have to get there really soon, or they're going to kill him."

Herate lay down on the bed she had made for herself and quickly fell asleep, overcome by the exhaustion of the day.

Hiiri saw T leaving the camp and followed her, moving stealthily and invisibly through the forest.

As the sun began to rise, tinting the sky with pink, T began to speed up until she tripped, sprawling right across the ground. She lay there for a moment, then slowly rolled over, then sat up. No. That's enough. I don't even know if these are his footprints. She starts trying to stand up, then staggers. "Elementals! At least sprained, if not broken. I'll have to get back to camp."

Ahead of her, Ember slows at the absence of footsteps. Did they just give up, then? He listens for a moment. At T's curse, he wavers, but remains hidden in the trees.

T crawls carefully to a tree, grimacing every time her right foot brushes the ground. She pulls herself up the tree, balancing on her left foot. Fields appear around her right ankle and as a walking stick in her hand. She begins to limp back. If only it weren't so difficult to move yourself on fields.

I don't react to the news immediately. It sinks in and forces the ancient beast to wake. It stirs and opens a single eye and then two. I grimace visibly for a moment, but I keep the caged. "We must take care. This Wyrn found this camp and was able to abduct Daolan without being challenged. It is obvious that we must get Daolan back, but we cannot stay here. The army will have to subtly move camp. If Wyrn brings an army this encampment will be obliterated. We will have to move quickly. This camp must be moved and a select team will have to retrieve Daolan."

"We need to split up. Someone needs to stay with the army to make sure they get out safely, and the others have to go get Daolan back. As preferable as it would be to have Herate move the army... she has to come to the Wyrn with whoever else is going."

Fox followed close behind silently, almost invisible, but she didn't say anything or interrupt, she just watched and listened from the side of the tent.

Hiiri bit her fingernail. Should she help her? It only took her a second to decide and she rushed to help T. She... might have forgotten to become visible again, though.

"There's no way you're going to get him back without me. Rien can move with the army, he's had plenty of experience with them. If anyone else wants to stay, that's fine. It might - no, it will be dangerous. I can't stall now, but I can when I get there... can I go ahead of everyone else? It might be handy to see if we can see anything."

...okay, trying again for the fiftieth time lol. Going to RP with Ene and the mime who I don't think I named. They'll come in later, at different points probably, when I figure out where people are at.

I acknowledge Fox with the slightest movement of my head.  For her I must be cautious.

"Herate, I want you to take care. The first thing that I would have taught this army is to fight with your head. Your enemy may have an advantage, but if you fight smart then you can overcome them." I close my eyes for a moment gathering light into a tight sphere in my right hand. In my left hand I summon a concentrated ingot of heat. I command them to remain as they are until they are so commanded to release in a wave. "I offer you these to this end. A sphere of concentrated light to blind your enemy. I have also gathered an ingot of heat. To you this ingot will be cool. They can be used once against your enemies. Use them wisely." I proffer them to her.

Circestran enters upon a wave of quiet. She takes a position to Fox's right arms crossed.
