Finally! The growl nearly eascpes me, but I keep it caged. A beast within me struggles and longs to taste carnage. It's time to end this. Our voices join as one. I spin toward her. In an instant the light surrounding me bends leaving me invisible to the naked eye. I drop the winds that surround me and move off to the side before leaping forward.

Hareon jumps back as Nath disappears, then jumps. She lands on the lower branch of a tree, listening for any brush of wind.

She fears me. Good.  I send the winds swirling about in a dance. It carries my voice to mine enemy. "Have you learned the first lesson of War? You can never trust your foes to fight on your terms." My words encircle her and the last comes out as a growl. A gust shakes the tree that she stands on.

Hareon jumped up a couple of branches and held on tightly, swaying with the tree.

A focused burst of wind rushes at her from the side striking her with forces many times stronger than hammer blows to the ribs.

She tumbled to the ground and quickly regained her feet. "Ouch!" She looked around carefully, trying to spot her foe.

Queen turned to look at him, cocking an eyebrow. She then scanned the area, her eyes landing on a very climb-able tree. Challenging Fadran with her eyes, she suddenly sprinted toward the tree, jumping and grabbing the lowest branch, then began scaling it.

Fadran grabbed the branch himself, hoisting himself up with his momentum. He didn’t stop between branches, instead using his own weight to hop from branch to branch without so much as a delay in between.

It is done. With all of the speed of light gathered within me. I rush forward knives held at the ready. My words echo around her. The blades dull slightly as I reach her and bring the blades across her shoulder drawing blood. I leap back and regain visibility. I stumble and drop to one knee my blades vanishing.

Queen clambered quickly, trying to stay ahead, breathing heavily as she laughed.

Queen put up quite the competition, but Fadran was second to none in tree-climbing. He was one the top boughs of the tree before long, taking a deep breath. "Quite the view up here!"

Queen was able to get up a bit higher than him. If he insisted on winning the race, she'd insist on having the higher ground...well, branch. She looked around. "Yeah. I've always loved getting a birds-eye view."

Fadran settled into a nook in the branches. "Back when I was in the army, the only reason I'd want a view like this was to strategize." He stretched. "It's... easier to just look out at the view and try not to worry about anything."

Where'd you go?

I'm not allowed to get on until my homework is done.

Spoiler

I hate homework.

Let's just say I went with the Fellowship because I wasn't online to actually make Enter do anything.

Suddenly, Enter started shivering violently for a few seconds before his stomach decided to... act in reverse. (He threw up.)

Queen nodded, shutting her eyes not necessarily to block out the view, but to help her focus on her other senses. The warmth from the sun shining on her face, the smells of the rebel camp, the breeze threatening to knock her hat off, the feeling of the tree beneath and behind her, the sounds of the birds and the breeze...surrounded by all that, plus the fact that Fadran was there with her, it was easy to forget that life wasn't perfect.

Fadran takes her hand again; this time without hesitation.

Queen held tightly to him, smiling.

"I was going to say the exact same thing." Fadran frowned. "Okay, not the exact same thing. I probably would've laced it with some sort of metaphorical joke or something, but... I mean, you said the gist of it, so I guess it works."

He took a breath. "I feel like we're missing something. Do you feel like we're missing something?"

Queen was in a particularly thoughtful mood, so her response was rather deep. "We're always missing something. No matter how much we want to experience everything, there will always be infinite experiences we'll miss out on."

She opened her eyes, hopped down so that she was standing on a branch below the one Fadran was sitting on, so that she was at about eye level with him. "But I'm not about to miss out on this one." With that, she leaned forward and kissed him.

T watches anxiously as Nathrangking and Herate fight, analyzing both of their styles subconsciously. She prepares to step in if necessary to keep either of her friends from serious injury.

Ember paces the grounds anxiously. Tawny can detect portals. She'll know that I've changed location. "I need to step away for a minute," he said to no one in particular. T noticed, then continued watching.
