Mita turns to Patch. "You may leave anytime that you wish. Vapor may go with you if she wishes, but then she will not be helped by my mother. Her chances at honing her skills will be lost."

James glanced at the corpses of the beasts. Already they are beginning to fade away as the realm gets rid of what it finds misplaced. 

I really should leave, he thought to himself. I don't belong here either.

Even so, Fate wouldn't have done this without a reason. And whatever it was, it was likely tied up with this girl.

A burst of amethyst fire erupts from the ground and forms a circle. Walls of heat rise up and from the flames Mita appears. "You should have listened to my warning." A barbed burning whip appears in Mita's hands. He raises it above his head and flicks it at the first emaciated monster as it leaps. The creature begins to howl in agony as it drops. As though they have lives of their own the flames consume the creature and leap upon the rest of the pack  they flee down the hall. Smoke fills the hall with thick plumes. Two of the bears whom the flames are holding at bay launch themselves at Vapor as Mita turns toward them. Mita takes a mighty leap and pushes Vapor out of the way. The monsters crash into him and he disappears beneath them.

 

The spirits of the young women appear before Patch. "Stay. Join us in slumber. Don't leave us alone." Their melancholy fills the air. Their voices are pleading. "You have fought well. You need not know destruction any more."

 

"Direct or not an assault on her will fail." I allow sympathy to enter my voice as my winds fail. My body falls several feet to the ground and I lay still groaning.

Herial rushes over, flustered. "Oh, now who knows what you've done to yourself? Stay still." She checks him over, focusing on his torso.

Vapor whispered to her shardblade. "Do you think you can get out? You can? Okay, find the Fellowship. I'll summon you after a while." Spin transformed into her spren form and flew away.

 

Back in Scadrial, Spin appeared next to Jek. "I'm back," she whispered to him, and he jumped. "Oh. Where were you?" "With Vapor." "You were with Vapor? What happened?" "She's in Rish's mindscape and got in some trouble with some bear creatures, and Patch, Vale's friend, says that Rish isn't good. Apparently Nath opened some gates and let out a bunch of demon things." Jek frowned. "Guys, Spin was just with Vapor, and she found her way here."

Fox's voice betrayed her emotion, weighted with a slight quiver. "He gave the blade to me, I promise. I do not know much of Queen, besides that she helped us, and Nath trusts her." Fox's body was taut with tension, she would be ready to take an opportunity to change this circumstance (pun intended) if necessary.

James shook his head. "I have met the one you call Fate- Kishmethis is his name, yes? He came to our lands to warn us of the monsters that had escaped. He may be called a god, but he is not the one whom I follow." He shrugged. "Perhaps I was sent here as a warning to you. Nonetheless, I feel my task is more involved than that." He glanced at Vapor. "I suppose I will soon see."
