She reached out to everyone mentally, enhancing them all by a small fraction. Then, she fell asleep.

Fadran, drawing her power into his own, manifested his blade in front of the ship. The magic was taxing--very taxing--but he had done it before. He could do it again.

The ship trembled as the force of gravity threatened to tear it to pieces. If they didn't escape- and soon- the spaceship would be torn to pieces.

Grace continued. Recently the two realities reunified - after a fashion. It was triggered by our leader, Narrator Master of Silence, for Fate knows what reason. But even weakened as he is, he's not powerless. He's naturally immune to most damage, and he can travel between worlds without needing to rely on a vessel or portal. He's incredibly charismatic when he wants to be. Still, he's far weaker than he will be if he manages to bond a withergeist. So try and capture him before that happens.

We are, indeed, rather overwhelmed, agreed Grace. We've only managed to clear the most empty worlds, those with little to no inhabitants at all. We have a few teams searching the ones we think he's most likely to have fled to, but we haven't had much luck yet. At least we know he can't have escaped into the Void Between just yet- he'd need a withergeist to do that.

Meanwhile, in a different world, a man climbs deep into an ancient cavern. He is looking for a device he left their aeons ago, one he'd thought he'd no longer need. 

At last, after minutes of searching, he finds it. To his delight, it is still functional. He commends himself for his foresight in leaving the device here (although, in truth, there is no way he could have predicted that this precise situation would occur).

He flicks the switch that will power up the device and stands back. A low humming fills the treasure room, gradually getting louder and higher in pitch. When at last it is almost too loud to bear, he steps forward and presses a button.

Bright light shoots from protuberances into a single point. A loud bzzt sound buzzes as it tears a hole in reality and fills it with a different one. 

Universe Hexagon.

With satisfaction, the man steps through and into the new universe. As he does so, the device powers off behind him. The cave returns to darkness and quiet, the only evidence of its disturbance gradually fading away into echo until it can no longer be heard.

Grace dashed down the corridors in mime HQ, her ponytail bouncing up and down as she raced towards the Situation Room. Red lights flashed on the walls, and a loud warning siren blared. Something was happening. And given the situation they were currently in, it couldn't be good.

She skidded around the final corner and through the door to the room where a group of the senior mimes were sitting around a holographic table, deep in discussion. Red and blue lights hovered above the table, connected with light white lines. A universe map.

What's going on? she asked.

Her father looked up, his face grave. There's been an attack.

Where? she demanded.

Everywhere, he said wearily.

Grace stared at the map. Indeed, black blips hovered around almost all of the lights. Not terribly many of each- this wasn't a full scale invasion- but enough to be worried about.

So many? she gasped.

Yes, said her father grimly. And organized, too.

She stared at them, stunned. We... have enough people to deal with this, right?

Barely, said her father. This was intended as a distraction. He breathed a heavy sigh. There's more. Prisoner #1 has escaped to another world.

Grace's eyes widened. 

We've narrowed down the possibilities, continued her father, and locked them down. He won't be escaping again. He sighed. We hope.

Which ones? said Grace, looking intensely at the red lights in the display. The red ones?

Yes, said her father, but-

But Grace had vanished.
