Baalhan turns to Vapor. "The king had little intention of letting us leave here unscathed, He had to be made to realize that he cannot play games with his guests."

Queen was overwhelmed by all of the fighting and weird magic stuff. She wracked her brain for something that she could contribute to the fight.

Tchanta. I need help. Something happened when I wrote my name with my mind. What was it? Tell me!

My queen, you know I would tell you if I knew. Queen wanted to believe her mental friend, but there was a hint of uncertainty in the way Tchanta had said that.

I'm sorry, Tchanta, but I just don't believe you. If that magic could be of any help right now, tell me. That is an order from your Queen. Queen hated giving Tchanta orders, but there was nothing for it. She had to know her own abilities in order to save her friends.

Tchanta had no response, but suddenly, memories flooded her mind. She felt abilities, muscles that she had never used. Every part of her mind had a different use, and each one of those uses could help in some way. Queen looked around with her newly observant eyes. Something had happened to make Baalhan go wild like that, what was it? Even with her newfound powers, Queen could see no hint of why he had grown so violent. Out of the corner of her eye, Queen saw @Negative_Null roasting apple slices. There! she thought. That's the key to escaping this. Thank you, Tchanta.

There was no response.

Tchanta, if you're mad at me for ordering you to do this, then I'm sorry.

Still nothing.

Queen searched her mind for a hint of her friend, pulled her hat off of her head, and discovered Tchanta unconscious, breathing slowly. Had revealing the powers done this to her?

There was no time to help the small creature, though, so Queen placed her gently in the largest toolbelt pocket.

Grabbing Negative_Null, Queen shouted towards Baalhan.

"Not everything needs to end in violence! There is a better solution than killing."

Queen pushed Negative_Null towards the king, nodding.

"I have known his like for eons. He rules over those who serve him either because of the power that he gives them or because they lack choice. He gives nothing without a cost. Killing is never the first choice. However, there are times when it must be done to keep true horror from escaping into the world. all that he understands is power. If there were another way I would follow it here however there is little that can be done that will keep us from falling into the bonds of slavery that he would impose upon all if given the chance."

“Your better solution is roasting apple slices?” Ene asked incredulously. “I mean, I’m with you on that killing shouldn’t be the first reaction, but really?”

Quick disclaimer that my character’s views aren’t necessarily mine lol, sorry if she’s sarcastic to anyone, I don’t hate you. Probably goes without saying, but just to be sure, since we’ve got a bunch of newer RPers in here.

"I doubt all of them were bad. What if they were mind controlled? Can you somehow reverse this?"

@Negative_Null I'm honestly just waiting for you. I'm curious to see what you'll do when my character forces you into a serious situation. Good luck!

"I am able to bring them back if I act quickly. In death his spell was broke and if they were under his control they are now free." Baalhan begins to chant and sapphire magic begins to stream toward the dead. Their bodies heal completely in an instant. Their eyes remain closed, but they begin to breathe normally. The fire that had consumed Santonio goes out and he is made whole like the others. "It is done."

Understood. There is a reason why with my other character paralyzed. I have been posting less. I can pull back further. Using a divine character is tricky.

You could always introduce a new character, if you want to write someone who isn’t divine?

He’s probably writing something that takes a bit more time - he is running the plot, after all ^_^

Just a quick question- would you mind terribly if I execute Baalhan? Either from a character standpoint, or a possibility standpoint.

(Logistically speaking, first the greens would freeze his energy, then the yellows would burn him to a crisp.)

A bit anti- climatic for a god. If you want kill him though truth be told if it was not better better for the plot. I would protest that it cannot kill him. Go ahead make an example of him for plot purposes.

Me: *clap clap I would never be able to do that to my character

One, Xino, is it possible for an Author to suppress their avatar’s ability to Narrate? Also, do I capitalize Avatar? Two, also Xino, or technically I guess this is three but whatever, could we maybe get an rundown of the holed/Hyxali magic system and worldbuilding, unless that ruins the plot?

Quote

1. Yes. Although the terminology has become a bit fuzzy. I would call Ene a Narrator, though- Authors/Avatars tend not to act as characters in the story.

2. Absolutely!

Holed come in eight colors- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, and black. Each type of holed, in addition to being able to mind-control other beings, also has a power based on their color.

Reds can heal from practically any injury.

Oranges are supernaturally tough and strong.

Yellows can shoot bursts of energy.

Greens can transfix objects, people, and energy.

Blues are able to know things without having to learn them in the traditional sense. (Including the contents of other people's minds.)

Purples can both create and resist mental illusions (including mind control.)

Whites can summon things from elsewhere, including across universes.

Blacks can banish things (including themselves) to elsewhere, including across universes.

Hyxali don't have any powers of their own, besides the aforementioned additional strength and lightness boost to help them fly.

All of Aridith's court also have the additional ability to utilize "shade-healing" which is healing using the power of death. Almost half the Hyxali are zombies at this point, so they don't have any shortage of power to draw on, either. It doesn't work fast enough that Baalhan's sapphire healing would be completely redundant, however.

"Oh," said Vapor's father, his face falling slightly. Then he smiled, his eyes still pained. "Well, at least you survived."

Baalhan turns to Vapor. "The king had little intention of letting us leave here unscathed, He had to be made to realize that he cannot play games with his guests."

"Guests?" spits the King contemptuously. "You forfeited your right to be considered a guest when you attacked me."

His chains vanish in a flash of black, and he stands up. His eyes flash black, and nine pairs of holed eyes snap open. Rings of black encircle every single one.

In a flash of green, Baalhan is frozen again.

Aridith snaps his fingers and Santonio lurches to his feet, gasping. White light flares as four more greens are summoned from elsewhere. All four place a hand on Baalhan, channeling their transfixing light into him. At last they finish, stepping back as the light holding him frozen in place is released.

"My servants have frozen the majority of your power," declares the king with a voice devoid of passion. "Now you will be punished."

The two yellows raise their hands and let loose streams of blazing fire. For a few moments, its blinding light fills the chamber. Then it fades.

Baalhan's skin is burned and blackened by the fire, and his face is twisted beyond all recognition. But even as the onlookers watch, sapphire flames have already begun to restore him.

"You live," said Aridith. "For now. It is lucky for you that I respect strength." He waves a hand, and the four greens transfix the war god's form once more. "Serve me, and you will yet live for longer. If you do not..." He leans in close. "I have killed gods before," he says. "I will not hesitate to do so again."

With that, he waves his hand, banishing Baalhan and his four guardians back to the dungeons.

Gonna narrate what Fadran was doing the entire time.

Amongst the chaos, Fadran watches helplessly.

Surely there's something you can do in this situationIcona asks. You're a Channelknight! The first of the last!

Fadran sank back down to the floor, placing his hand against his temple to stem a tide of emotion... as if doing so could possibly stop the realization.

"I can't do this Icona," Fadran whispers, watching Baahlan slay the holed, "I'm not a fighter... heck, I could barely hold my own against a bunch of demon chickens! What could I possibly do?"

Queen grabs the servant, dragging him before the king. Did she know something he didn't? What did he really know about anything here?

"I've pretended to know about these places, about this massive web of worlds." Fadran says. "I say I'm a traveling merchant--a Channelknight. But what can I do against a king that can slay even gods?"

They look up to you, Icona replies, they trust you. You can't win this battle, but you can flee to return to fight another day. You can save anyone who cannot save themselves.

Fadran nodded--now was no time for doubts.

"Lord Aridith!" Fadran calls. "If you don't mind, I'd like to take the rest of these not-guests of yours and leave. If you resist, I'll be annoyed."

He glances at the others. Baahlan had told him to lead the others to escape if all else failed--he could do that, right?

"Come on guys," Fadran tells his friends, "let's go."

Hey Fadran, did you by chance see my question for you?

Ene speedwalks a few steps closer to him, shooting glances at the king who’d just frozen a god. “Yes please.”
