urrutiap Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Earlier today i finished reading the last couple pages of Mistborn. Good book even though it was pretty much a fantasy adventure version of Ocean's 11. Now I just started reading Well of Ascension 1
+Invocation Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 I'm going to be as vague as possible here, but still spoiler it just in case. Not much of a spoiler, honestly, just a small tidbit. Spoiler Things get a lot less Ocean's 11 going forward. 3
urrutiap Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 yeah so Invocation? Im just saying that Mistborn the first book anyway it felt like i was reading a fantasy version of Ocean's 11. Anywayz, im reading Well of Ascension. Good so far anyw

Tell me more since you act like youre the Mistborn expert know it all You are being very unnecessarily hostile. I just wanted to offer a bit of reassurance, since you seemed very critical of those portions of TFE. Guess I know better than to try that with you again. Or anything else. Not that that's much of a loss on your end, huh? Edited April 4, 2020 by Invocation
king of nowhere Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 also, most people on this forum have read mistborn a half dozen times, have read the author's commentary, and the various related extra tidbits that brandon released in various interviews and q&a with fans, and discussed it in the forum in depth. So yes, I do believe everyone answering to a mistborn post here is most likely to be a mistborn expert 2
urrutiap Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 Invocation, Besides Mistborn having an Oceans 11 plot, the rest of the book is good even though I was getting hored with the characters hopping around from rooftops to rooftops with them eating swallowing metal like it was candy
Elsecaller_17.5 he/him Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 @urrutiap if allomancy bothers you that much no ones making you read mistborn. And Invocation has been around for more than long enough to qualify as a mistborn expert.
urrutiap Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 Its not bothering me. Im just saying that the first book did go a bit overboard with the Oceans 11 type set up. the rest of the book was good. Thats my opinion. You dont need jump on my damnation back about it.

They weren't. They simply told you that it no longer continued in that vein. They did not mean to be offensive, and they weren't.
king of nowhere Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 brandon himself acknowledged that a heist story like ocean eleven was part of his inspiration. he said that his first plan was to make the book a full heist story, but then as he wrote other elements took over. 1
Karger he/him Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 (edited) I think most of us qualify as Mistborn experts considering we know more about it then anyone else on the planet with only a few hundred exceptions. Oceans eleven was an inspiration. Ninjad. Edited April 5, 2020 by Karger
