Mason Wheeler Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 Probably Manti. It's one of the oldest temples in the Church, and its design is just beautiful. I love the way it has multiple ordinance rooms for the different stages of the Endowment, that you progress through as you go. I wish we hadn't stopped building temples on that pattern. 1
Quivil Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 I have two favorites: the Portland Oregon Temple and the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.
+Slowswift Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 I was very impressed by Manti when I went to the open house. It's probably the top contender for favorite that I've actually been to. I do quite like Provo City Center--I was struck by its use of dark wood instead of start white everything. As my uncle said, "It actually feels like God's living room." (Saratoga Springs and Orem are some of my other favorite modern ones.) 1
echo74 she/her Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 ooo probably the san diego temple i think it’s so pretty i also really liked the manti temple when i saw it at the open house something i wanna do when i have a little bit more money is to rent out a van or camper or something and visit every temple/temple site in the united states (excluding alaska and hawaii) 1

How the scud do you have both my favorites Besides those two, I also love Manti. It just feels like a castle. I haven’t been inside since the renovations, it’s a bit of a drive but I need to find a time to get down there. I get to go to the Asunción Paraguay temple in a couple weeks, I’m super excited.
+Slowswift Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 I was at the 5000th Music & the Spoken Word today! I had to get up earlier than usual and I slept for basically the rest of the day, but it was so worth it. 1

TruthwatchingRadiant He/Him Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Just painted up these Book of Mormon figures I got a while back at bookstores and birthday and stuff. The details were kind of blurred out of the box so I decided to prime them up and paint them. Some of the detail isn’t the best, but I feel like it’s a lot more interesting than it was originally. We got the Brother of Jared, who has a white glaze for lighting over part of him, cause the Hand of God is literally coming out of Heaven to touch the stones. Then there’s Captain Moroni and a Stripling Warrior. Have a nice week! 3
+Slowswift Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Ever-so-slowly learning the (unofficial) national hymn, God of Our Fathers (also currently hymn #78). It's a shame we don't sing it in church more often--I think the fanfares scare people off. 3
+Slowswift Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 I was browsing the meters index at the back of the hymnbook and it turns out you can put the words of O My Father to the tune of Lord, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing and it fits perfectly, both in meter and also tonally. (It would be prudent to play it more softly, of course.) We did that once in seminary, switching up the tunes. We sang The Spirit of God to the melody of Now Let Us Rejoice; another perfect match. I wish we'd do that more often--I like how it can reframe the words and make me think about them more, or differently. Kind of like how I've heard people say they like it when the sacrament prayer has to be repeated.

Or The Time Is Far Spent. I remember singing that one to the tune of The Spirit of God on my mission; it really messed with a few of my companions' heads!

Wasing the want of this Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 I don't think you would be, there is a girl in my stake who is trans and she isn't excommunicated. 1
Eran of Arcadia Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 To be serious: I think the church handbook says you can be excommunicated if you actually get gender surgery, but otherwise openly identifying as trans (with a new name and pronouns) is considered "discouraged" but at the same time, the church will update your records to reflect your gender identity.

Church leaders counsel against pursuing surgical, medical, or social transition away from one’s biological sex at birth. (Social transitioning means intentionally identifying and presenting oneself as other than one’s biological sex at birth, and may include changing dress, grooming, names, or pronouns.) Leaders advise that taking these actions will result in some Church membership restrictions. These restrictions include receiving or exercising the priesthood, receiving or using a temple recommend, and serving in some Church callings.” specifying the area about social transitioning it says “Social transitioning means intentionally identifying and presenting oneself as other than one’s biological sex at birth, and may include changing dress, grooming, names, or pronouns.” I have done all of those. I dress very masculine and have a binder. I’ve cut my hair short (grooming) i dont go by my deadname. And literally as we can see i dont go by my bio pronouns. this is where my concern stemmed from. And moving a bit forward it says this “These restrictions include receiving or exercising the priesthood, receiving or using a temple recommend, and serving in some Church callings.” I haven’t gone to the temple most beacause of this. I find excuses to say no because the rules are so blurry on everything that i dont know if i would be allowed in the temple if i didnt keep it secret. I’ve been called many times as a young women’s president or councilor and whatnot but like it states here, well i might say, as it doesnt specifically state here, i shouldnt or maybe shouldnt be allowed to be called into a calling. sorry i need to verbally/text process stuff Edited September 3, 2025 by Hawks 1

NerdSandwich she/her Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 ...the sophomores got treats for the second day in a row. I ate the leftover sprinkles and threw myself a pity party. 1
