Delightful Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 A Desolation is upon us! We must refound the Knights Radiant to fight off these inhuman invaders to our land and drive them back to Damnation! Seriously though, where do they come from? And why do they keep coming? 1
Lightsworn Panda he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I thoroughly agree with you, Delightful. These spammers are shattering my (already fragile) sanity. I DO NOT WANT BLACK MAGIC INSTRUCTIONS OR WHATEVER THE NINE HELLS THEY ARE. I feel like downvoting every spam post. 1
Delightful Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Well, at least if they're still around when Chaos switches to new negative rep levels we can find some use for them I mean seriously, who thinks "Let's spam a forum with advertisements for black magic absolutely no one is foolish enough or desperate enough to believe in"?. It makes even less sense than "here's a site for free movies" spam. There's just no logic. *shakes head in bewilderment*
Quiver he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Wait. Are you guys telling me they can't help with my inter caste marriage problems through dark magic? 3
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I'm sure they could create more problems in your marriage if you wanted.
Quiver he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Well the jokes on them, because that would mean they'd have to set me up with someone first of all. 1
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I don't think they'd object to that as long as you were paying them to do it
Quiver he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Is this the sort of service you pay for before or after they do it?
Delightful Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Is this the sort of service you pay for before or after they do it?If you have to ask that, I think they'll love your money
Chaos he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 They seem to just be coming in in the very early morning. Our spam service is up and running so I don't know what the deal is.
Eerongal he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 They seem to just be coming in in the very early morning. Our spam service is up and running so I don't know what the deal is. Hasn't had its morning coffee yet, probably. It's slackin' on the job. 2
Baine he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Are we talking about those weird topics that have tons of links and make no sense?
GreyPilgrim he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Are we talking about those weird topics that have tons of links and make no sense? Yup. Spam bots make accounts and post those topics. Which is really annoying if you use the New Content function to search like I do.
king of nowhere Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I mean seriously, who thinks "Let's spam a forum with advertisements for black magic absolutely no one is foolish enough or desperate enough to believe in"?. It makes even less sense than "here's a site for free movies" spam. There's just no logic. *shakes head in bewilderment* Well, some people outside fantasy circles believe that we all are into occultism and black magic. Some people still think D&D players are satanists. So, spamming that kind of advertising into a site of fantasy nerds make kinda sense, if you ignore everything about us. 1
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 It's a "cast your net wide, even if that means getting a rusting, useless, frayed expanse of threads attached by some distant and convoluted remove" thing. The not that decides who to spam probably picks up on 'magic' and throws all relevantly-tagged posts at it. 2
Lightsworn Panda he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 It's a "cast your net wide, even if that means getting a rusting, useless, frayed expanse of threads attached by some distant and convoluted remove" thing. Quiver he/him Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 So it found "fantasy" and thought "black magic love spells and relationship advice"? ...actually, yeah, I can see people thinking that...
Delightful Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) It's a "cast your net wide, even if that means getting a rusting, useless, frayed expanse of threads attached by some distant and convoluted remove" thing. The not that decides who to spam probably picks up on 'magic' and throws all relevantly-tagged posts at it. Ah. So there is a kind of weird convoluted logic to it. Lightsworn Panda he/him Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 GOD HELP US THE SPAMMERS HAVE ARRIVED. Hm... 5 downvotes = Lifeless
Quiver he/him Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Spambots as lifeless following awakened commands makes a frightening amount of sense... 1
Swimmingly he/him Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) Somewhere, an awakened computer works away. Its command is Sell Bull[s-word]. Edited May 22, 2014 by Swimmingly 2
Delightful Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 Question is, if someone has enough Breath to power that monster of a spam bot.....why are they so poor they need to spam people for weird black magic? Is there something else going on here? Are they trying to start....a war? 1
