Mike replied, but hopped down from Seom's shoulders. He turned around when he saw a woman with fox ears approach them and paled. Another creature of the Vortex?

His hand flew to his knife and eyed her wearily.

"Who are you?"

Kumiko saw the man's hand go to his knife and stepped back, switching to Cat form in case he decided to attack. "Takamine Kumiko," she said. "I'm from the DA. I'm ... keeping an eye on the place." She tried to not look too hostile. It would be ... annoying if he managed to get her in trouble with KanMien.

Wolf growled at her in fear and Mike strained to push him back. His hand closed around the knife again. DA. Dark Alley. Here they were. Takamine would take him, would grab him, he took a step backwards, scales covering his skin, then fur. Another step, the smell of the anesthetic KoTiel had used, the table, the shadows behind the windows.

Procupine smelled the air, but Mike shoved her away as well, fought to stay in his own body for once. His eyes rested on Takamine again, never leaving her. He was trapped, trapped and she would hunt him, catch him. Drag him into the shadows. He had to be strong, for his squad, for them all, but he took another step, his face pale, eyes wide in fear.

"What..."

He stuttered, tried to speak.

"Doyouwant?"

He spit the words out hastily, more to say anything, than because he wanted to know. He knew why she was here. She had more spikes, had another experiment she wanted to try out.

Kumiko blinked as the man's skin changed while he stepped back. Curious, she tilted her head, studying him. "Huh," she said, then composed herself. She could have a better look later. "Voidus, Mac and the Stranger are coming to study the Vortex," she said. "A couple of other members are coming as well. I thought it might be good to tell you people, so you don't cause a scene when they show up."

Mike closed his fingers tightly around Seom's hand. Mac, Voidus, the Stranger. Mac, Voidus the Stranger. Mac, Voidus, the Stranger. MAC, VOIDUS, THE STRANGER.

Flee, they had to flee, to get away. The Vortex was a child compared to them, nothing but an annoyance. Instead he only stared, frozen, panicking at Kumiko. She was already studying him, she was planning what to do. He had waited for this moment ever since KoTiel had sent him away. You didn't let an experiment run around on his own.

Kumiko looked at them, and shrugged. "Don't know," she said. "I'm somewhat new, I don't really do all that science stuff. Though if someone goes there as an experimental subject, you kind of have to expect being experimented upon." She paused. "KoTiel?" She muttered. "KoTiel, KoTiel, that name sounds familiar..." Her face suddenly lit up. "Ah, right, the dead guy!"

“What in rusting storms are you all on about?” He asked the underlings and then the DA member. The DA were coming to shut the Vortex down. Good, everything as to plan.

He stayed mostly by the side, watching the events unfold. He saw the atium Ferring, Freedom, change her age and he walked over to her. “So,” he said. “Any recent developments?”

Wes went over to the woman and tried to help her out as best he could. Together, they managed to get some of the roof done.

Kumiko tilted her head. "Is there any reason I should be?" She asked, sounding confused. "I'm just supposed to keep an eye on the building, as well as this thing." She gestured to the Vortex. She shrugged. "Well, I'm going downstairs, I'm going to greet the others. Try to make sure your people don't try to kill them when they arrive, killing all of them would be annoying." She looked up. "Please call me if anything happens." With that, she turned around, getting ready to head downstairs.

She glanced at Lusk momentarily before standing on her toes to secure another piece with some tape. It was easier to hold it up with Wes there.

"There's a Vortex absorbing Investiture, a DA member here which is causing Mike to be terrified, and Harmony knows what else going on and you have nothing better to do than ask that?" Freedom kept her eyes firmly on the ceiling. A wrinkle in the foil was exposing some of it, so she smoothed it out. "It's been days. Not much has changed."

After making sure nothing else was noticeably visible, she looked at him again. Her demeanor changed a little. He was the reason she was there and not stuck in a tunnel somewhere. Sure, Lusk wasn't perfect, but to an extent she could tell he cared. For a second, she stopped storing subconsciously and returned to her default teenager appearance. Despite lasting just a moment, the slip reminded her exactly why Lusk was important. She was an amatuer at it all. And he knew more on the matter than anyone else.

Lita followed after Voidus, Mac and the Stranger, keeping a step or two behind them and cocking her head at Laurelai, hoping to get her attention. If there was ever a time for a private word, this would be it. Everyone’s attention was on the Alleytravel - there might not be another time to talk for a while.

You alright? She sent. Any idea of what we’re supposed to do when we get to the Vortex?

Lita hoped the mission might take Laurelai’s mind off her anxiety, something she could logically examine and process. She looked around as she walked, immediately regretting it as her high burn of tin let her catch sight and sound of myriad odd sights and sounds, half-formed and ominous. Lita shivered, looking forward at a spot on the back of Mac’s suit instead. 

Excellent tailoring, she noted appreciatively.
