"Thats good. I am so sorry to bring work to your attention right upon your return, but there is one matter of importance that your Queenship must decide upon.

The Alleycity is setting up a government with the guilds in the city. I assumed that because we are neither in the city, nor involved with their laws we would want to retain our sovereignty. The only other guild not involved with them is the Dark Alley. What are your thoughts?"

Well there are quite a few new guilds. There is TUBA, the Ghostbloods, the DA, the Canton of Combat, the liebrary, the keepers, and the craftsmen. There are about a dozen smaller splinter organizations that only have a few members. 

TUBA and the Ghostbloods are to be watched out for. TUBA is full of well meaning people, but they are opposed to the DA. The Ghostbloods are spies and assassins, and I don't trust them. The Canton has a good leader, he is honorable, and is friendly with the space marines. 

The Liebrary is kind of weird if we are being honest. Right now they are trying to release Voidus from a containment field that he got himself stuck in 16 years ago. The Keepers are a village of Feruchemists. Finally, the Craftsmen are a guild that I run. I think that they are amazing, but I am a tad Biased.

I would say that we strengthen our alliance with the DA. They are still the most powerful guild out there despite not using their power. The rest of the government wouldn't be able to stand against us with their assistance."

“There’s also the Diagramists.  Despite being very small, we are growing and it’s the best guild in the alleyverse, so there.  We also have a flowering spy network, a treaty with the ghostbloods, and a fortress in the wilderness that may or may not eventually support a city.  This court will benefit from the alliance with the Diagramists.”

Seassa smiled as she walked in, annoyed she had not been the first to greet the Queen. Eldritch Horrors are bastards, all of them. She bowed slightly to Queen Elsa, then payed attention to the discussion. "I don't think we should enter with any of the government guilds, your majesty. His suggestion about the Dark Alley, I believe is a good one." With that, she sat on the steel floor, lounging, waiting for a response to what she had said. She was sure those there would not be happy.

Elsa thought for a moment, her pale fingers tapping at her chin. 

“I have made my decision. We shall ally with the DA. I wish to keep Newcago’s glory for eternity.”

"Wrong answer." the man hissed "You, and your orginization are doomed to end up spiked."

The man reached up and yanked out a spike planted in his chest. His entire body began to glow, Investiture rising from his skin. The glow grew brighter and brighter, blinding everyone around him. Then the man, who by now appeared to be a figure crafted from pure light, exploded.

Elsa unsheathed her shard blade. "You dare challenge me?!"

Mac quickly tapped an Aon Eho and threw it down to protect them from the explosion. 

Well, mostly him. The queen was definitely strong enough on her own.

Seassa tapped her on the shoulder, wary of the blade. "Your majesty... I think he's dead."

Darkness casually strode into the throne room.  "Hello Queen Steelheart."  He turned to the black scar on the ground that was all that remained of the messenger.  "I'm inclined to agree with him," he said, gesturing to the scar, "The DA is not to be trusted.  The Ghostbloods, however, would be beneficial allies.  Their range of power is very substantial."  He turned back towards the queen.  "I fully don't expect you to listen to me, as it looks as if you have more trustworthy advisors, but if you are a good ruler, than you won't completely discount my advice either."  He stepped closer to the throne, and dropped down on to one knee, his face showing uncharacteristic respect and reverence.  In a clear voice, he recited:

"Your Majesty, Elsa Steelheart, First of Thy Name, Titan of Ice, Snowwarden, Frozenborn, Queen of Newcago and all Lands of the Seventeenth, I, Darkness, do swear my humble, undying fealty to thee. I shall forevermore serve thee and thee alone with the utmost fervency, till last I draw breath.  Unless the orders contradict those of the Ghostbloods, in which case I shall do nothing."

Queen Elsa Steelheart sat up straight on her throne, puffing her chest out to further assert her dominance. 

 

"I have know the DA for a long time, so I trust them."

Darkness held up his hands defensively and said, "Ok alright.  I can see where you're coming from, but I had to give you your options since I'm loyal to the Ghostbloods."  He began to walk towards the door, and near the door he cast a look over his shoulder, "I've got a wedding to attend, so I will see you later."  With that, he left the building.

Voidus stepped into the room with a tired smile.

"Don't even try, we've never really understood how so many evil entities can enter the Newcago Court no matter how much security we throw in, one of the mysteries of the Alleyverse."

Turning towards Elsa he gave a small bow as he approached.

"It's been a while, how has the court been fairing?"

Elsa turned, a wide smile spreading across her face. "Voidus! It is wonderful to see you again! The court was rather quiet for a while, but I am glad it has become lively again. How are you?"

"Tired" Voidus replied "There's been a lot going on recently."

He took a moment to look around, enjoying the nice cool atmosphere that the court always had.

Mack glanced carefully at Voidus. Last time he had been in the court with Voidus, Voidus had stabbed him with a spike resulting in Mac taking over. Mack was not eager to replicate the experience.
