"Thankfully not" James laughed, and he helped support his friend out of the hospital.

Well, I was thinking it may be possible since the veil seems to be lifting a bit, but it may still be impossible, so that's another reason why I'm asking.

No, because she is Investiture.

Maybe he will notice the effects, like a ripple in the air, but can't grasp it completely? Not yet?

Rob tried to support them out of the hospital as well.

”I saw that scene on YouTube,” he said. “I have never seen the movie, though.” He looked away from Ben and James for a second and looked to Shana.

“Do you need help walking?” He asked, a mirror of his question when she had been too exhausted to walk down the stairs without tripping.

“Do you need help walking?” He asked, a mirror of his question when she had been too exhausted to walk down the stairs without tripping.

Shana nodded and struggled to her feet.

"Yes."

She leaned on his arm and smiled exhausted. Her back hurt where the bolt had hit her.

"Thanks Rob."

Quietly she added.

"I'm such a sorry sight for a Dustbringer."

Then she shook her head.

"Doesn't matter. As long as everybody is alright. That's the most important."

“Yes, it is,” Rob said. He walked slowly ahead, to try and make sure he didn’t speed ahead of her. He thought back to her previous words. Thanks, Rob. Was that the first time anyone had thanked him in... weeks? Months? Rob wanted to say weeks but he knew it was longer than that.

But that was fine. He was a Stoneward. He stood, he endured, and he kept a straight face. That was his job.

“And you are a fine Dustbringer,” he said, remembering.

”You swore the Second Ideal. And you took down more Voidbringers than anyone else.” He thought for a moment. Taking down all those Voidbringers had come with a risk, of course. Shana could have died. But it wasn’t Rob’ job to worry. He wasn’t supposed to worry. He was supposed to stand tall and strong, like a wall.

“I wonder why the Voidbringers tried to kidnap you, instead of killing you,” Rob said.

"I don't know."

She sighed, stumbled and caught herself again.

"You saved me."

Smiling she concentrated on the next steps.

"We should probably look into it, at one point. Why they tried to kidnap instead of killing us."

“Yes, we should,” Rob said. When she stumbled he’d stayed still, tried to act like a pillar for her support.

“But first, there is school tomorrow, and tonight has been a very late night.” He looked up at the starry sky. What time was it?

"School."

Shana shook her head.

"I'm not sure how to go to school after this." A pause, then she sighed, "I've got a test next week."

Slowly they walked outside.

"How can we go home?"

They walked outside and the automatic sliding doors of the hospital closed behind them. The moon was a crescent in the sky, and there was a cold breeze that floated by the cars and the streets.

The van they had all came in was still parked at the prom, and the keys were wherever Cassie was right now. Rob checked his pockets. He didn’t have enough money for a taxi.

“I know the bus routes by heart,” he said. “With a student fare, I have enough to get us back home.”

Shana nodded.

"I lost my handbag. Used it to trap a Voidbringer."

She laughed.

"Not much lost, but still, how am I going to explain that to the library?"

Better by not mentioning the reason she lost that card at all.

“Just don’t tell them,” Rob said, and shrugged. He walked to where there was a bus stop, not far from the hospital.

“I have learnt that if I don’t tell anyone anything, they stop looking for explanations, and just accept that is who I am.” It was part of the reason no one really asked him how he was, because they knew the answer. Rob was Rob, no matter what happened, he had the same neutral expression.

It is now my mission to use Ashlyn to get Rob to show emotions. Anyway, what’s happening with the police officer group, cause I’m lost.

She laughed again, started to head towards the nearest bus stop.

"You saved my life."

Stopping her fingers tightened around his arm.

"I never felt that helpless in my life. When they had that knife and Ben was lying there-"

Her voice broke and she shook her head.

"When we trained and I lost, and you had that stone blade and -"

Her hand touched her stomach when she remembered that hole. The pain. Ben had saved her, had healed her. She looked at her feet, then up at him.

"Ever since I bonded Mahad, I was strong, undefeatable. It's been eight years now, nine? Apart from maths I am good at what I do, I am brilliant when it comes to sport."

"That first fight against the Voidbringers, it was so easy, then we trained and you beat me easily. Twice. Now today."

"Thank you."

Her voice turned intense during her last words, when she looked at him for a moment, then she continued to walk to the bus stop.

"Which bus do we have to take?"

I'm already trying :P

And he did show emotions already. Well apart from the division scene. That one doesn't really count.

We're waiting for Eluvianii, otherwise the wuestioning is more or less over. Elu wanted to do something with his spren, and I wanted to give him that chance.

I think I'll refrain from it for now, it's too vague whether or not things have changed enough for them to see her. There's always the next chance.

Me writing something so that you can go on. Sorry it's short, I'm on mobile.

Miller shook his head again and again and again.

"We need to talk about this."

He told Eiss.

Magic. Magic in his station. And he had to do something. He couldn't keep these children here. He had to send them home. Check the tapes. Compare notes. And then talk to them again.

"You can go home. But don't leave the city."

They were children. Nothing but children. Children fighting demons and creating cake out of nowhere. Something, no, it couldn't be. Compare notes. See what those at the hospital said. Then they could go decide which path to take. Inform his boss. That was even better. Have his boss take care of the demons.

"Which bus do we have to take?"

“The 762,” Rob said, looking at the bus stop. It came in five minutes, and it would be about a ten minute drive before they reached the house. Idly Rob was relieved it was a short bus ride. Public transportation, this late at night, and you usually got some shady figures prowling around.

“And with saving you, I,”

He didn’t really know what to say. He was just doing his duty? It had been nothing? He hadn’t gotten a thank you in a while, maybe later he’d have to Google what the appropriate response was.

“Thank you for thanking me,” he said quieter instead, because it was nice to feel appreciated. But it wasn’t like he would outright say how he felt about it, that would be going against everything his father taught him.

“And well, you’re a Second Ideal Radiant now. I’m sure now that we’re on the same Ideal, you should be able to outmatch me with no problem. Especially since the last spar we had was a tie.”

"I doubt I'd be able to repeat that."

Shana shrugged.

"You're stronger, a lot stronger. the moment you force me fight without my weapon, I'm at a disadvantage. But we can gladly try again."

She shot him a wry smile.

"Though maybe tomorrow. I doubt I'll do anything but stumble over your foot today."

“Tomorrow it is,” Rob said, as he saw the bus approaching from down the road and signalled to it.

“Speaking of weapons,” he said. “While we were waiting for the prom, I didn’t have much to do. So I shaped a hammer, because I remember you said you wanted one. It’s out of stone right now, but maybe Leona can soulcast it to the right material later. And it’s a bit big, but I think with stormlight you should be able to lift it easily.”

The bus came to a stop in front of them. Rob shrugged. “I thought you might like it. As compensation for destroying your last weapon.”
