"Okay," Dan's boss said, taking the paper. "You can move the wounded, make sure they're taken care of, then bring them back here. I'm going to go get the repairs going in a minute. Thank you for everything you've done," he added sincerely, "thanks so much. Our guild is in yours debt."

"Thank you," KanMien said. They signaled a nearby denizen using alleycant, telling them what to do with the wounded. "Sir, if you need anything, just ask."

Darkness arrived.  Just in time too.  He had just missed the Ghostbloods being destroyed by the DA.  Simple cleanup now.. he could handle that.  He walked up to the man in charge, and asked how he could help, identifying himself as a Ghostblood.

Chirithia nodded as the Denizen relayed the message that they had the go ahead to “Clean Up” the area. She smiled and turned away releasing flying hordelings to relay the info more efficiently. Around the entire compound the Denizens began gathering up the fallen. Many Denizens had scanners that hummed and beeped cryptically as they inspected the bodies. It appeared R&D was already about its business. Samples were taken from not and not quite dead subjects, nearly all of them Ghostbloods. Some Denizens were taking this opportunity to feed, some on corpses and some on cognitive elements. A few from R&D we’re feeding on spiritual elements, but that was beyond Chirithia’s area of expertise. She was an anatomist.

She bent over one corpse who’s head was in pretty good shape and checked the eyes. Grey irises, perfect. She moved her hands over the sockets and harvested them with practiced efficiency. She put them in a canister and tucked it away for safe keeping. They wouldn’t begrudge her a souvenir, it wasn’t even from a child. She didn’t understand why so many humans got hung up on that. A corpse is a corpse.

The Denizens worked with speed and precision sorting nearly all the corpses into their respective factions and removing all but the ones in the Church pile. The rest were stored in various containers and digestive systems and taken back to the Alleys. Chirithia hummed with anticipation. So many new samples, she could hardly wait to do an inventory. The other guilds were useful for some things after all.

Fred aimed a railgun at the Ghostbloods nearby and turned towards a nearby member of the church.

"Shall we execute them?"

Just a note here that a bunch of Ghostbloods trying to enter the area without explanation are pretty likely to be mistaken as more enemies and attacked.

Erlend senses the army retreating of the army by the vibrations in the ground, “and it seems your the only attacker left. So I would hurry with your choice.”

"Now, I would do this, but there is one small problem. I am the leader of the largest criminal organization in the Alleyverse. You seriously think that anyone would take me seriously. In fact, as soon as I am out of this building, I will be out of your custody, one way or another. In on way, I will be dead from the Syndicate assassination, as their existence is purlery secretive, as is their secret control of every guild in the Alleyverse, except yours, or I will be removed by my associates before you take me three steps. So, if you want to take me into custody, I will comply, as long as my mask is not removed. If you try to remove my mask, it will no longer be peaceable," The Jackal said.

I would also request that any transportation of The Jackal be made in the Hunt for the Jackal thread.

Soldiers ran around trying to keep the DA from harming the bodies of the civilians who had died.

Dan's boss told any willing GBs to gather GB corpses and give them to the DA people.

"No executions yet."

“Well, we’ll try the best we can to keep a hold of you.” He says, “now, I’m going to ask that you drop all of your weapons.

At the request of Dan's boss, Fred lowered his railgun. His shoulders slumped with disappointment. What kind of guild left people alive when they tried to attack them? Or did they want to keep them alive for later experimentation?

That would make sense he supposed.

He gave Dan's boss a knowing smile and a small shrug, then took the rest of his team to help with the cleanup effort.

It was all a little disappointing, the fight hadn't lasted long after they'd all arrived. He'd barely managed to collect any spikes at all. And only managed to blow up that one copter. But if they were lucky then the Ghostbloods might try a second offensive Or someone might try a rescue mission.

"Let's keep ready." Fred said sternly to the rest of his team.

"Yeah." One replied snarkily "Never know when more of those pesky satellites are going to fly overhead."

Dwig slung his rifle over his shoulder and spoke quietly to one of his men. The elite nodded and jogged away.

"Heads are gonna roll after this. And I'll be rusting in Damnation before the Ghostbloods follow rules." he smiled grimly to himself "It's what we do."

"Would you need another weapon when you can have a pair of invincible obsidian short spears move with the speed of a bullet into anyone you want, and all you have to do is think to command?" Jackal said, and his staff haves increased their speed of spin.

“I suppose your right,” Erlend says, “now, I want you to know that any risistance on your part will make me have to retract my part of the deal.” Erlend smiles, then the vines retreat and 15 heavily armored and armed guards come in.

Well, obsidian shards are sharp enough that surgeons use them (or artificial versions) for scalpels, and they made extremely effective weapons for the Mayas. On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure why the entire spear needs to be of obsidian.

Obsidian can actual be a very effective blade, sharper that the steel knives that we usually use

It is very sharp, but it's also very brittle. Not a great option for a weapon, and it's not cost-effective for most areas.

Not that the Jackal has to worry about finances, but still.

Yup. The main issue is that you can't forge it though, and that larger weapons shatter too easily, so you can only make knifes or spearheads out of them, or put lines of them on the side of a club (basically what the mayas used for swords).

Gamma-7 trotted through the hallways of the church, nose pressed to the ground. He could smell the heavy, burning scent of the Dor, powerfully used here on a large scale. He could smell the acrid, ozone-like scent of Stormlight, though that was fainter. But there had been a number of patches where it had been used. Many Surgebinders had been here.

He lifted his head, staring at a nearby open doorway, there were Invested inside, though none of them particularly powerful. He cautiously wandered over and poked his head through the entrance.

A number of small humans were clustered together, the smell of the Dor hung faintly around them all, both Aonic and Forgery based it seemed. But these were part of the group that Gamma-7 had been told to protect, so there was no danger.

He barked a short, happy, greeting towards them and then crossed past the doorway, further along the corridor. Some of the small humans seemed curious and excited to see him, calling him a 'puppy'. He lacked the physiology to form human words so he couldn't correct them to let them know that a proud Seekrador was not a simple puppy but it also seemed like an innocent enough mistake anyway. Most humans weren't that smart after all, correcting them would be pointless.

At a nearby intersection he smelled something familiar, others from his pack were converging at the same spot. A moment later he saw Gamma 3 and Gamma 5 arrive, they all gave a short greeting as they met before swapping reports. They shared information, using a combination of growls, barks, and body language, it seemed that the others had found much the same as he had. The enemies had all been captured, the only Invested walking free were allies.

They'd also all apparently noted a peculiar scent, an Investiture they hadn't smelled before. Two in particular had stood out from the rest, one had smelled of sulphur, burning and hatred. It had smelled like Voidbinding almost, but a little different. The other had been earthy, it had smelled of dirt and growing things, like the smell of Progression only without the Stormlight.

Interesting. Keep watch over them both. Gamma-7 communicated to the others. One of them is one of our allies but be careful all the same.

Gamma 3 and 5 barked their assent and then bounded off the other corridors, tracking the smell of the Investitures to their source. Gamma-7 turned around and walked back the way it had come. He was curious about the small humans, they'd looked so fragile. How did they protect themselves? How did they contain all that Investiture without it tearing them into pieces?

He found the small humans again, approaching slowly so that they didn't startle. One of them walked nervously forward with an arm outstretched, so Gamma 7 politely lifted his nose to it and memorized the scent. The small human seemed to smile and started scratching Gamma 7 behind the ear.

Well I guess they're not all that stupid. This one knows how to be polite at least.

He tilted his head so the angle was better and then sat down on the floor. They were supposed to protect these allies, so he supposed it made sense to stay nearby so that he could notice any threats to them more easily.
