This is... okay, didn't expect that.

Anthony felt her lips touch his. And panicked slightly. He froze up a little, then melted into the kiss, closing his eyes and leaning into her. Love. I remember love...

"Lovesick Scaridialers" Dwig muttered, walking away to cook his lunch.

In another clearing nearby

Dwig had started a fire and was roasting a chicken over it. He inhaled the wonderful smell of woodsmoke, sketching a diagram in a small notebook

I do endeavor to be surprising occasionally.

Say, Ark, could you give me an updated version of Ani's character sheet?

"Hmm," Tena hummed, faintly aware that this was the first time she'd kissed anyone in maybe two decades. By the Sisters herselves, this was the fastest she'd ever fallen in love with someone, wasn't it? And that meant that she was either desperate, or that Anthony really was just a great guy.

But he isn't, she thought, he really isn't. The realization made her pull away from Anthony a little in surprise. When I first met him, he was okay, but today? He charged into a town full of innocent people and killed them. That thought made her sick, and she pulled her lips away from his, meeting his eyes and trying to search them for some hint that he was repentant about what he'd done. But, of course, there wasn't, since he didn't know what he'd done. And, as she looked into his eyes, she came to a simple conclusion.

I'm in love with a mass-murderer.

Which was oddly perfect, she knew; it meant that Anthony wasn't too good for her, unlike Mace or that half-Koloss guy from Scadrial. She always felt bad about forcing men into relationships where their girlfriend was a far worse person than them, but she couldn't do that to Anthony because he was an awful person too. What a strange thing to be happy about, she thought.  And, though he was undeniably in the same body, he really didn't act at all like Hellbent. When he took out his spikes, that must've altered his spiritweb. But he'd still killed all those people... and she still loved him. It was a fast decision, and an impulsive one, but it was true, she was sure of it.

She pulled away. Anthony didn't know why, but she wasn't interested. She'd changed her mind. He pulled himself out, then stood up. And saw Dwig. "I recognize you..."

Dwig pulled drumstick off the chicken and took a bite.

"Yeah, you would. I used to work for you." he took another bite "But no longer, eh. I've got a plan. I'm gonna make my own fortune." he grinned "I can't on my own, though." gesturing to a log, he continued talking "Sit down and I'll tell you about it."

Tena glared at Dwig after standing up, not really sure why. Then, she growled at him, "If you hurt Ani at all, I swear by the Moons herselves you shall never see another night sky. Do I make myself perfectly clear?" She stood by Ani, then looked up at him. He really did have beautiful eyes. The first thing she thought of was lilac, but that didn't suit him. Something more like... an infused amethyst. Hard and cold and sparkly. Yeah, that was better. She smiled at him.

Context for the 'night sky' threat: In Tesan religion the night, stars, and moons are all holy. So never seeing them would be like going to hell.

"It's Christmas now," Tena said to Ani, "so..." She slung her pack off her shoulder and began rooting through it. "I've gotta have something somewhere in here," she muttered. "Bags of Holding are convenient like this, but I somehow still manage to get stuff lost..." She stuck her head inside the bag and eventually found what she was looking for: an orange scarf. "Ha!" she yelled, then brought out the scarf and gave it to Ani. "Ya know, men always look more handsome with a scarf to highlight their eyes. In this case, the orange scarf contrasts with your nice, pretty violet eyes, and the color of the scarf was, ya know, totally on purpose. Hmm, fashion advice from an agent. I'll bet that's the day you thought you'd never see. Yes, you're very pretty, mi amor. Uh, I mean Ani." She winked at him, then hugged him.

Oof, Tena is not subtle.

Wow, this is just stranger by the second...

Anthony smiled as he ate hugged him, and hugged her back. "Thank you, really."

Here's the day I never thought I'd see: Ark making such a bad grammatical mistake that the sentence doesn't make any sense at all.

Oof, my child, oof.

Tena grinned at Ani. "Y'know, huh, you are fairly handsome when you're happy. I'm just not used to seeing you like that. Maybe that's why I never noticed." She pressed her head into his chest. He was warm, and strong. His arms were wrapped around her shoulders, and that made her feel... safe. Somebody else making me feel safe, she pondered. Now that's a real novelty. But he is, wow, real. "Hmm," she said quietly, closing her eyes.

I was totally not watching White Christmas while I wrote that. Gotta love watching Bing Crosby playing Bing Crosby.

That's not much better...:P

Anthony grinned as she hugged him. He felt a tinge of guilt though. My wife is dead. She died by Harmony's hand, and she can't be angry at me. A seventh memory came to him, of her laugh as he kissed her, running his hands through her hair. She can't be mad... He kissed Tena then.

Well, that was utterly unexpected, Tena thought as she kissed Anthony right back. Didn't he just act like I'd done him some horrible crime? She wasn't sure what it might've been; she'd only stopped kissing him for a moment. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and really felt the emotion from him. She opened her eyes for a moment, and saw his infused-amethyst eyes. Such beautiful, beautiful eyes. She pulled her mouth away for a moment, then said, "I love you." She leaned back to him and kissed him again.

Yep, this thread is now a romance novel.

Anthony leaned in, smelling her hair. He ran his finger through the strands, kissing her. "I love you..."

I think you're the one who's making it cheesy, brother.

Also, keep in mind that Tena has really short hair. She looks kind of like Snow White from Once Upon a Time, except more muscular.

"Ya, I can see that," Tena quipped. "Yes, you're real nice. Huh. Though, you are a little tall. If still handsome." She grinned, a little maliciously, then her face fell. "I haven't gone on one date with you. Gonna need to remedy that..." She trailed off as she kept on kissing him.

Yep. Nothing I am involved in ends the same way.

He smiled, kissing her. I don't know why... I've barely met her, but... I love her. Maybe it's something from before? He cupped her face in his hand, pulling away a bit, staring into her brilliant blue eyes, like the sky. "I would love that." Then he grinned wolfishly, sitting back and crouching, watching her. "But first, I'm hungry." His stomach grumbled as if to emphasize the point.

"Men!" Tena exclaimed as though they were the most hopeless thing in the world. "You are such a... well, actually, I can't think of anything to describe you that wouldn't sound inappropriately affectionate. Hells." She slung her pack off her shoulder and sat down, sticking her head in it. "Oh, wow," she said, her voice echoing a bit in the large space inside, "what I want is near the top today? It has to have been Christmas yesterday!" She yanked her head out, then stuck her arm in, rooting around until she grabbed a package of beef jerky and brought it out. It was, as a matter of fact, Carolina Reaper-flavored, so she grabbed a piece and stuck it in her mouth, eyes watering, then set it out of Ani's reach so he wouldn't accidentally grab any. She took an apple out of the pack after another moment of searching, then handed it to Ani. "I honestly have no idea why I'm always prepared to feed people," Tena confessed as she chewed on the hot-as-hell jerky, blinking tears out of her eyes. "I've scared any appetite I have into submission by feeding it stuff like this," she waved another piece of jerky at him, then put it into her mouth. "Do not try to eat one of these. I would hate to be responsible for giving you a heart-attack."

She continued eating the jerky for a moment, then her eyes lit up. "Oh, did you mean you wanted to go to a restaurant? Because, honestly, I think I'd prefer that too."

Anthony slowly blinked as she went on a long tangent about food or something. He tried to listen, but hell, it was boring. His eyes lit up as she brought some jerky out, then dimmed a bit with the apple instead. He noted that she was nearly crying from the heat of the jerky. Then something seemed to click with in her. "Oh, did you mean you wanted to go to a restaurant? Because, honestly, I think I'd prefer that too." He shook his head. "I don't really care, I'll take any location, I just wanted to eat." Then he smiled, darting his hand out and grabbing a piece of the jerky. He stuck it in his mouth, and warmth flooded into him. He wanted to spit it out and drink a glass of milk, but two things stopped him. He didn't want to seem foolish, and some strange part of him loved the pain, wanted it, thirsted for it. That part scared him, but the first reason forced him to keep eating. He took another bite, and barely resisted crying out. Bloody hell it's spicy. He picked up the branch, grabbing it as a walking stick, and forced himself to swallow. He had somehow managed to keep his eyes rom even watering, and had barely winced. Must be some strange trick of the mind I taught myself... before. "Okay, where do you want to go?" Then he looked down at his clothes, covered in dry blood from when he woke in the city of fire. "And... do you have a change of clothes?"

Tena put all her stuff back into her pack. "Ay-yup," she said, grabbing Ani's arm and taking her Tia card to her house out. She tapped it, appearing on her balcony, then let go of Ani and walked briskly into the house, then her bedroom. She walked into her closet and dug through boxes of poisons and various other necessities until she found a box of spare men's clothing. She had it from the days when Silas had still lived in her house, and her son was nearly as big as Ani. She picked up the box, then walked to the table and set it down. "In here," she called to Ani, "you'll find stuff that'll probably be big enough for you. You can change in that room there." She pointed at her room. "And if you don't want to get something to eat, I'll just make more food for you." She walked into the kitchen and looked into the freezer again. She had several pizzas in the eventuality that her son come to visit, but Ani was a real chow-hound. She took the pizza out and put it in the oven, then sat down on her couch to wait for it to finish cooking.
