His depth perception was supposed to be fine. It changed between the books.

Yeah, it’s been a while since I read those. I remembered the depth perception vs. memory thing from one of his POVs.

Yeah, that scene was probably why it got changed. But it's a bit weird, considering he literally says his depth perception is excellent in book two.
