FT strode forward. Because that's what heroic types do, they stride. Normal walking is rather dull.

He stood before the candy army, silvery coat rustling in the breeze. He adjusted his spectacles, drew on luck from his metalminds, summoned Narration in the form of a glowing shard blade, and cued the orchestra.

"I may have been only a Narrator Psychologist once, I may have only dabbled in Hemawhiskey, and Hermitcraft nights, but no more. I am the Shard of Narration itself. I ascended before you were even thoughts, in a Narrator's mind. I am the Shard of Narration, I have counseled Sophie, I have stood before Astral, I adopted Withy, lord of darkness. (Before he turned dark that is). I am not afraid of your unholy monstrosities. I am a servant of the secret fire, and I stand before you unafraid."

Breadmunks began to gather around FT, beating their tiny swords against their tiny shields.

"We will never surrender," FT said, "Send out your champion, your greatest warrior, and I will destroy him."

Lots of bravado, I'm not exactly sure if I can handle this, but we'll see where it goes

Scud.

Meanwhile, at Vegtium city, the healthy foods were in a panic from the roar of an unknown creature. Commander Carrot was reinforcing the city with walls of living celery, all of them carrying spears of asparagus, making the wall a prickling mass of terror. Atop the wall, pears stood with shields of watermelon rind while behind them bananas stood with bows of leeks. On the ground behind the wall, cantalopes and pineapple gathered by the catapults, ready to fly.

A bugle sounded over the plain that held the candy army. The sound of rustling became deafening as an army of ghanderflaffles slithered into place beside the breadmunks, Narrator Ghanderflaffle in the lead. She looked over and nodded at Narrator FT, then turned to face the foe.

The champion of all the unhealthy strode forwards. It radiated an aura of unhealthiness, causing the defenders to wither. Even the narrators were affected by it's dread aura. Then it grew. It grew taller than the wall, then taller than a mountain, then so tall that it's head seemed to scrape the top of the thread. Hordes of candy without end swarmed towards the city, mintopults prepared to fire, and soda cannons lined up to destroy the front gates. Then the beast spoke:

"You are NOTHING before me. Your powers can do naught against me." The beast unleashed a blast of energy that warped the very fabric of the thread itself into the city, casually ripping through the protein shield before slamming directly into FT.

FT frowned at his adopted withergeist. He glanced over his shoulder at the army stretched across the battlefield. He hadn't expected such a turnout. Actually, he was expected some Narrator to drop an anvil on his head or something, so he was truly surprised.

On the upside, he had won the lottery twice, and been awarded Best Supporting Actor three years in a row. Drawing on Luck featured strange side-effects.

He noticed Jimmy standing next to Narrator Ghanderflaffle, fidgeting with his snipping pliers. "Jimmy?"

"Yes?"

"Do you think you could diffuse this situation?"

"Well, I could try but--"

"Good, that might be useful."

Edit: this happen directly before the protein shield slammed into me.

But there was a neutral party as well. Withy stood between the armies, waiting for carnage to insue.

He was still recovering and more or less insubstantial, but he wasn't about to let a bloodbath go down and not watch it. That would be a waste of good entertainment.

Worry entered Sophie expression. "What's wrong?" she asked nervously. "He... he'll be okay, right?"

Michael looked down at the floor, silent.

"No," he said at last, his voice trembling just slightly.

A voice from behind spoke up quietly.

Oh? it asked. Can't they?

"Silence?" The beast queried. "Is that who you are? Do not think to interfere, though I admire you, you shall not stop me from my goal" The champion turned back towards the city, summoning another bolt of energy and firing it towards the city. This time the shield managed to deflect it, barely, and it ricochet off into the distance, hitting a tiny moving speck right next to a broken tree.

I've gotta go, someone else can take over the champion, just don't let it die too easily.

Sophie paused. "No," she said quietly. "No, no. I was gonna save him..." She looked at the man in her arms and tears filled her big blue eyes. "I can't lose him. I'm protecting him. I was gonna make it okay." Then, quieter, "He was gonna make everything okay. But you didn't..." It didn't make sense to her. They should have won. This shouldn't be happening, they were the good guys. Light always prevailed. Didn't it? Didn't it? Sophie held Xinoehp tighter. "Please be okay," she cried softly.

Presumptuous of you, said Silence in the same mild tone.

Michael shook his head, eyes still gazing at the floor. "The Witherlord... he used Blightwind," he said softly. "It kills anything it touches. No... no exceptions." A shadow passed over his face, and he shivered. "I... I'm sorry."

Witherlord used Blightwind. It's SUPER effective. Okay, I'm done.

Sophie's face flushed with anger again. "Well, I'm. Keeping. Him. ALIVE!" With that, her body exploded with light.

The ghanderflaffle army attacked the unhealthy foe. They used every trick they had to their advantage. Being low to the ground, they slashed at ankles or whatever body part was within reach. They twisted around the enemy, fighting their hardest.

Vegtion fought back. The walls struck out with their spears, the pears stood their ground while the bananas fired into the ranks below, and the catapults let the pineapple fly. The pineapple then rolled back and forth through the unhealthy army, poking creatures with their spines.

Narrator Ghanderflaffle was mad. She had finally made a long, in depth description of something in this thread, and it was now being destroyed. She let out a wordless yell that echoed across the clashing armies and attacked.

Woo, running two armies takes a lot of typing compared to my normal posts.

I'm keeping him alive. Those words consumed her, left her blind to everything else around her. Sophie poured every drop of her light into Xino's body. Darkness was defeated by light. She had that light. She would use it.

"Stop it!" screamed Michael. "Don't you see it's no use?" Tears began to fill the corners of his eyes. He didn't notice. "This is an act of Fate, Sophie!" His voice wavered as he spoke the words.

Michael's eyes fell to the floor again as he listened to Sophie's sobs.
"I know how you feel," he said softly. "My mother... she died this way."

Sophie's heart softened slightly. She didn't want Michael to be in pain as well. "B-but I came here to save him," she explained. "I was supposed to... to save him. I d-did everything. I just wanted to be a hero..." She cried harder.
