Xanther had known that. But he didn't care to explain his motives.

Symbol followed suit, sighing. At least the garden was safe. She could feel her past pressing up against her mind, insistent on getting attention. But the garden was so different from it that she could ignore it for now. Briefly, she wondered if characters thought constantly about their pasts. 

Rose squeaked. "HEY! PUT ME DOWN!"

There was actually no continuity in the way of them coming back

Bat growled. No, no, no! He ripped the remaining door off its hinges and threw it against the wall, then ran back into the tunnel the way he'd come. 

The pineapples did not appreciate that. The chunks of the crushed pineapple slipped under his foot to make him slip.

He wiped his forehead. It was beginning to feel very hot, and the fire in his veins was burning hotter. He reached out to feel for any nearby Nullite, but found nothing. He returned to the tunnel, running until he came to Tam. 

"Go to that room," he said, pointing the way he'd just come from (the first room). "I wanna try something." 

Then he dashed past her at a very speedy speed.

Cep turns to find Utility standing next to him. "Aaagh!" He screams before composing himself. "Yeh were there, too," he says.

He continues looking around. "And ah ran into Kiri not too long after that...ah think they're around here somewhere."

Kiri was there the second time Cep appeared, the first was Utility and Rebus talking on a beach.

Rebus removed Taeidin’s perception of the Thread, and handed him a flat rectangle, somewhere between paper and plastic. “Here’s my card. If you need me, there’s contact information on the back.”

Chord approximated a giggle. “Hi! You say that a lot. I have a name now, that’s fun!” 
Rebus didn’t think so, unless it happened to be relevant. Sometimes new characters would, since their personalities wouldn’t be hammered out - though honestly his Author didn’t give even the characters who were supposed to have them fleshed out backstories. 
“My apologies - I suppose I’m so used to floating I forgot how disconcerting it can be. You’ll have a proper floor under you in a moment, though you will not want to be down there while I’m making it.” Rebus held a finger up to his mouth, and blew on it, sending what looked like a speck of dust up into the air. It wafted down to the ground, effectively impossible to keep track of from that distance.

Or at least it would have, if Rebus hadn’t put it out of its misery long before it hit the ground. It wasn’t like it would have lasted long even if it hadn’t had its wing broken.

Or at least it would have, if Rebus hadn’t put it out of its misery long before it hit the ground. It wasn’t like it would have lasted long even if it hadn’t had its wing broken. 

Snow giggled and hid behind the chair, wide eyes fixed on Chord. 

Symbol laughed. “Mine either. She makes them up as they go along, really. If you have questions about the backstories of her characters, chances are she’s frantically wracking her brain for those same answers. It seems to have worked out all right for her. So far.”

 Rose squeezed her eyes shut, a primal panic rising in her throat. The same panic drilled into her by her parents and society over and over again.

 Frustrated, he shouted and rammed his shoulder into the wall of the tunnel. The fire course through his veins, and he pounded the wall again and again and again.
