The party's been going on!

Bacon approached Symbol. "Do you know a Narrator named Glass?"

@Bird Furious

Symbol tilted her head.

“I think you’re referring to the Author, @Through The Living Glass. She has a penchant for meddling.”

Xanther snorted and let out several guffaws. “I’ll keep some secrets!”

-

“Sure.” She beamed.

-

Good for him.

Not really, since it seemed apparent that she wasn’t capable of finding anything.

The universe seemed to shrug. Eof's house was notoriously hard to get into while he wasn't there.

It crumbled to ash.

Hmm. Well, let me know if you find anything else out.

-

Shoe smiled and put his arm around her shoulders.

-

Hehe.

Rose's clothing transformed into a very pretty dress that fit her well and made her look really good. What that looks like, I don't know, but it happened. @TwinStorm

Utility stepped through without hesitation, then waited for the others on the opposite side.

The music was soft, and the crystals slowly rotated, throwing beautiful light across the ballroom.

Rose put her hand on his shoulder.

Symbol rolled her eyes. "You're a Narrator. Why don't you do your own research?"

-

She kissed his cheek. "Let's go exploring."

-

Rose stiffened, then relaxed.

Wow. This deep shade of red looked really pretty.

-

He stepped into a large, open cavey system. It was almost like being in a sponge--- a black sponge glowing red with light, especially from down below. Red veins ran through the sponge, but only upon close inspection.

Except at his feet. The veins of red at his feet bulged, glowing.

Cricket stared for a moment, dumbstruck. She looked . . . gorgeous. He shook himself out of it, however, and began to dance, slowly at first, but gaining speed.

The light formed a giant hologram of Lady Bug in a statuesque pose.

Bacon shot Glass a suspicious look while slowly reaching for another drink. "Who do you think you are?" He challenged. "No, really, who are you? Have we met?"

"Not relevant! That sounds extremely relevant! I guess unless it wasn't that difficult to get back. Which, if it was Narrated back, I suppose it wouldn't be. Say, you wouldn't be interested in new eyes, would you?"

"What? I mean . . . it'd be fine, I guess."

"These will show you the exact role of any character! Protagonist, Dark Lord, sidekick, love interest, you name it!"

"yup. Life is normal again. Strange after those years. We have the habit of following her around still just in case she needs us. Just one call away. Granted we can hear whoever from heaven. Or in cades case, what we call the Middle."

He folded his arms. “I’ll be quite frank. I don’t want you to know anything about me. But I feel you may be helpful to me.”

She pushed the boat off, keeping tight hold of the oars for later.

He took the oars from her and rowed them a little further out into the lake, as the boat slowed fairly quickly after Beosta pushed off.

I kinda feel like we were set up for this, y'know?

He shrugged.

Not that I mind. It's . . . nice.

He waited longer.

In stillness, his joviality melted like ice. He had a more stern gaze than she’d realized. It made one question whether he was all that silly in the first place.

She nodded and leaned on his shoulder. Fireflies danced around.

It's beautiful out here.

A small half- smile cracked his face.

“Go, then. Keep avoiding plotlines like the plague until you fade into pointless obscurity. Better for me. I’ll find somebody else. Someone more… stable.”

Bat stared at him, processing.

-

“It is,” she agreed. “It’s really pretty.”

Well, thanks for nothing. We have better things to be doing, thank you very much.

“Bat,” Xanther called, sounding completely unworried.

Bat didn’t react.

A small smile curled his lips upward, visible or not. “Quite the Protagonist, I see.”

Bat stopped on the stairs.

-

It was quiet for several minutes.

”Do you ever think about… where we go from here?”

“No,” Bat said sharply. “No. I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He yanked away from Tam and went back up the stairs. “You want something from me.”

“I do. A map.”

”Well, I don’t have a map.”

Xanther’s mouth twitched. “Oh, Bat… very well. You don’t have a map. But you could get me one, wirh much ease. Get me a map, and I’ll explain everything. Everything, at least, that you don’t already understand.”

Bat took a shuddering breath, then glanced at Tam.

But maybe I want to mess with people.
