Truthless shrugged apologetically, then turned around in time to decapitate a jelly baby charging towards him.

Nameless sighed: "Truthless,  please refrain from eating our troops." He turned towards the edge of the city. "Who wants to go on a scouting mission? I have a bad feeling about the Champion simply fleeing. Any volunteers?"

Commander Carrot steps forward. “I shall take my best and brightest and find what the Champion is doing.”

[Snake Eyes Productions_YT he/him]

Commander Carrot ordered his elite squadron to grab their weapons and gear. 7 valiant mangoes also volunteered to go on the mission. They grabbed their pikes, spears, and packs.

"Very well, Commander Carrot. You are dismissed to gather your squad." Nameless turned back to the other narrators. "I am going to rest. All this narration has worn me out. I'll be back in an hour or two." He narrated himself into a nice, cozy bed and fell asleep.

Commander Carrot gathers his top soldiers and gears up before setting out to follow the Champion's giant footprints.

 " Don't worry private, they've got much bigger problems. "

Aqua began to vibrate, humming violently as her light flickered angrily. Me? she hissed. You call me selfish? Ha! Sleet began to drip from her, freezing to ice on the ground below. You would kill me without a second thought.

I think you mean Aqua. 

Sophie folded her arms. "I wouldn't kill and you know it. The only killer is you if you don't save Xino when you could."

Sophie shook with rage, fists clenched at her sides. She growled. "Please," she said tightly.

No, said Aqua angrily. I have no obligation to you. Why would I sacrifice myself for your benefit?

"You came here to save Xinoehp!" Sophie yelled. "You came here with me to help him out and now you're just going to let him die?! This isn't for me, Aqua, this is for him."

Not like this, said Aqua bitterly.

Sophie sent Aqua a look of death, then sat down with her back turned and put herself in a soundproof forcefield and began to cry.

Michael looked at Aqua pleadingly. "Aqua-"

Don't you dare, hissed Aqua. You had no right to tell her, to get her hopes up like that.

"But, Aqua-"

Don't you 'but' me! I won't do it! I will not go the way of my mother!

Michael's mouth hung open for a second. Then he closed it and slowly dropped his gaze to the floor.

Feeling annoyed and angry, Sophie decided to let down Astral's confinements. Let Aqua deal with it when the Queen of Shadows found out that they'd failed and Xino was dying and maybe even dead already. Stupid Seon.

The transparent blue dome over Astral's body faded away. Finally, she thought. She looked about. No withergeists. That was good. Maybe they'd actually won without her. She sat up, stretching, and cracked her neck with a loud snap. As she moved to crack it the other way, however, her eyes fell upon Xino's body. 

Disbelief came first. And then, her wrath came flooding through her body. "You let him DIE!!?" she yelled. She got to her feet, surveying the scene. Her sister had locked herself in a forcefield and seemed to be crying. Well, no wonder, this was awful. Also there was that miserable Seon and a mime. She dusted herself off, marching toward them. "You idiots!" she accused. A wicked blade coalesced in her hands.

Michael cleared his throat. "He's not dead yet," he said.

Astral raised an eyebrow with a masterful look of spite. Her sword disintegrated. "Well, then," she cooed, putting her hands on her hips. "What are we doing to save him then?"

Nothing, said Aqua sharply. Nothing can be done.

Astral smiled sinisterly. "You're lying," she declared. She cracked her knuckles.

And the foundation of the Empire State Building crumbled.

Aqua faded slightly but didn't say anything.

Sophie realized suddenly that she hadn't told Astral just why she'd released her. Aqua can save Xinoehp, but she won't, she thought to her sister. She didn't say anything more. 

Astral perked up, pleased that her bluff had worked and that she had been correct. She was also utterly livid. "You really are lying, aren't you?" she giggled. "Well, then. I've never gotten to torture a Seon before. This should be good fun."
