Rebus would have said something - yelled at the Author, mustering every ounce of anger and melodrama. Instead, he ceased to exist. For a time, there was nothing within his Author’s mind - Heir slept, and so Rebus was cast into oblivion. That was terrifying, of course - but it was also empty of thoughts. When his Author woke, however, Rebus flitted on the edges of his mind - unable to act, to make any impact but an endless fog of resets, trapped in little bits of daydreams with neither continuity nor comfort. When Rebus returned to life, it was as he should be. He was calm, manipulative. “I know more than you seem to think - mere age does not determine wisdom. Creating history is not the same as changing it, but perhaps I was unreasonable in my judgement.” Storm was an Author, far more dangerous than he claimed Cricket to be. Still, the anger was important - he brought the feeling into his mind, allowing aggression to seep into his words. “I await the return you have promised. You may not have noticed the relevant post, but my Author did write the beginning of the duel after Cricket appeared to challenge me.” Rebus smiled - the ironic sort of smile one could make to make those you threatened feel you were very very dangerous. “You could alter what has occurred and pick up from there as though none of this has happened. Or you send all of this in a very different direction - because I too am dangerous.” Then he blinked out of existence, leaving only the memory of his words and the sound of a collapsing vacuum. - “Everything achieves something, Asharak.” Rebus gestured, sending a wave of fresh utility fog at him. !! - Asharak nods. "Very true." He waves a hand, and as the fog reaches him, it is swallowed up by the Mindscape, its signals immediately cut off. "Tell me, Rebus. What has become of your status now? As he spoke his desire, his claim, the page slowed just slightly in its approach towards Bacon. Malevolence's eyes widened in understanding, and he held out his hand. That page is MINE! I and I alone am worthy of its secrets. I am Malevolence, seeker of evil, seeker of darkness, and no other is deserving of such power. I will hold that page, I will be the Witherlord's heir, and I will shatter this Thread in darkness and death! That page holds my destiny and I WILL NOT be denied. Caught by the villain's desire and command, the Lost Page halted a few breaths away from Bacon's reach. Then, slowly, horrifyingly, it began to move back towards Malevolence. "Killed by his blade. Black it was, just as you said." The man shuddered. "Larid pulled a sword and tried to stop him, but the man's blade cut right through it, and Larid's neck besides." But at least there’s continuity.” Inkwell pulled out the pen, which was full of opaline ink. “I’m sorry for this. It’s a bit of my fault. I’ll see what I can do, bring Larid and the others justice.” The realm that Inkwell occupied suddenly rippled, the boundary between reality, perception, and the mind warping and twisting under the weight of an invisible force. For a few moments Inkwell occupied Omen’s clearing, a grassy field with an entity of fire and light, and the desert outside the vault, which had broken open in several places by what looked like some sort of an explosion. He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them and wrote: P. 4392: I and Jack bought supplies from a woman in the forest. Jack handled the negotiations, while I kept lookout. — Malevolence appeared back in his base, Lost Page no longer in his grasp. He walked over to a half-finished device that looked similar to his Evil Communicator and continued his work on it. ”Hello, Rebus. I don’t recall inviting you to this place.” Well technically I’m not Nameless, I’m since my name is actually Namiess, so… *reads* T~T 2 hours ago, Unintelligenius said: Bob looked up in wonder at the monastery that stood before him. Large wood gates, leading into a courtyard, with a crystal fountain and a beautiful garden. But for some reason, it was eerily quiet. "Where is everyone?" Bob asks, turning to the wind. Bob decides to respond to the voice in his head. "Just how are you gonna help me?" "Dunno. Let's go look." She pushed the gates open for him. 2 hours ago, NameIess said: I agree. Actually, I’d planned for the Protagonist/Antagonist thing to be concluded before Malevolence got near the Witherlord, but it sees he’s gotten ahead of me. actually i have an idea I'll PM you in a bit Edited February 11 by Through The Living Glass

If it happens again, it could be… dangerous to you.” Omen’s voice was somber. “In any case, you have finished your trial, so long as you swear an oath to me. In coming here to grant 9/10 a body, you set him free to accomplish great evil. You are responsible for his actions. Swear to me that you will do your utmost to stop him, that you will oppose him no matter what and hinder his every move.” Hide contents “Hm? Of course everything’s alright. I’m just waiting for you to, you know, grow. It’s your trial, after all.” The Dreamsmith began humming to himself. “Did you know I once made a blade that ended up killing an Author?” ”A good idea.” Lyric wrote below the fist entry. “sometime before that: I met Jack in the forest, then went to a mall to try and find the meaning of life. There was a crazy cultist Sage there who tried to eat our minds.” Lyric paused, then scribbled in a last note. ”He called me old.” — “Thank you.” Malevolence sneered. “I will say this: Bacon is a far better Narrator than you. You would never have been able to get the Page from him.” He pulled Darkseeker off of his back. It appeared to be shrinking, losing the axe blade and transforming into a different kind of bladed weapon. ”Good.” He murmured. “I had worried it wouldn’t change.” Malevolence looked up at Rebus, meeting his eyes and grinning. “You came here for clues about the page, I’m certain. Perhaps hoping to steal it. I presume you’ll attempt to stop me from completing the ritual?” Unintelligible stared at Willow, head cocked. “I can teach you to fight.” He offered. “And the Dreamsmith offered the possibility of restoring your hands. As for Rebus…” he glanced at the Antagonist with disdain. “You didn’t specify a timeframe for fighting him. Just sometime after we buried Sequence. So we have plenty of time.” be a hero. He thought. Help others. It’s what she would want. “Don’t give 9/10 the credit. I think something terrible just happened at the vault, and it will be preoccupied at worst, at best we’ll have a tenuous alliance. I think when I was in its head, I got some idea of what it is. It’s not a character in the usual sense- and it came here with me, so if I hadn’t been so curious to come here, it wouldn’t exist in TLT in the first place. It is here because of me, has the sword because of me, and it’s already my responsibility. At this point I just have to hope we all survive long enough to have to worry about it.” He realized he was rambling. The experience had rattled him, certainly. “All this to say. Yes. I swear it. I will oppose 9/10mmHB#2.” Spoiler For an instant, the realm that 9/10mmHB#2 occupied suddenly rippled, the boundary between the sight, language, and hearing warping and twisting under the weight of an invisible force. For a few moments 9/10’s hearing became a rush of noise, an explosion, screaming, a single discordant note like a metal string, broken voices -knows how to summon the Witherlord- -had worried it wouldn’t cha- -swear it. I will oppose nine ten- -ended up killing an Author? The experience suddenly ended. 9/10mmHB#2 jolted in shock. That was disorienting. What just happened?

He had expected it to react in some way, but perhaps Aeryn was concentrating elsewhere, though on what, he couldn’t imagine. “The maze should be wide enough,” he tells Erryin, “that we can fly up to survey it without space constricting. Do you mind?” erryin jumped up and looked around. @Kansas Stormcursed

He didn't think that he could find them this way; it seemed that Cep's position was being intentionally scrambled. I'm assuming there's a reason they can't just fly over the walls? Picking a wall at random, he gestures to Erryin. "Could you cut out a hole?" You want to beat the wind... beat the wind... beat the wind... I know a way... a way... a way... "How?" Bob asks. 2 hours ago, Through The Living Glass said: "Dunno. Let's go look." She pushed the gates open for him. Ryna looked into the toolbox and picked out a spare. She looked it over and handed it to Rebyl.
