". . . I- I'm Atrephica. I-"

She looked at the kids.

"Well, I-"

With a screech, more winged people flooded into the basement through the stairway, weapons drawn.

Atrephica swore and hurried the terrified children to the back of the room, hiding her wings.

“Really? We need more action?” She snagged the knife from Bacon and slung it at one of the bird people. “Privacy, please? We’re trying to have a conversation?”

They rushed the pair, weapons swinging.

Agony blinked, and placed a hand to his head before stumbling to his knees. He snarled, and fought to his knees. A wound opened across his chest, and he bled black blood. The wound closed.

I am not yours to claim, dark one.

The figure, disfigured, laughed. “If you say so.”

Agony was banished.

Agony stumbled, placed in a place most inconvenient to its occupants.

It’s okay Agony is immortal

ish

Agony placed a hand on the bird person, and it stopped. Froth came from its mouth as pain overcame it, and it was left twitching on the ground.

@Through The Living Glass

agony is one of the Notblades that Bat wielded, except he has a body now.

Also no Eden was there, remember? Unless she's not anymore and I missed it-

Yes this was how I decided to solve the problem of complexly normal unarmed human not being killed by angry winged people with swords. I decided that the character I don’t know anything about that picked me to teleport to is probably powerful enough to block for Eden.

The bolts were consumed into his skin, and metallic copies of them were launched back at the bird people.

better yet he thinks of Bat as his creator

Eden stumbled back as a second random magical person appeared out of nowhere, blocking the winged people from attacking her. “That works.. I guess.” She looked at Bacon. “Friend of yours?”

sneaky edits

The shields blocked the attack, but not the pain it caused.

Agony absorbed the spears, and light pulsed underneath his scales.

oh yeah agony is a faceless 7 foot scaled monster

that’s pretty cool. Really metal cover type character description

When Bacon didn’t respond, Eden realized he was frozen in time. Somehow. “And this is why I’m never doing magic. Music is cooler.” She picked up the spear, which was really more of an elaborate poleaxe a fallen winged person (do you have a cool name for these guys btw Glass?) and broke off the end, as she didn’t exactly need six feet of reach and wasn’t planning on flying soon.

"Well if no one's willing to fight me, that should mean I'll be safe, right?"

Bacon shrugged and tapped the door. "Knock knock."

"Who's there?" said the door.

"Orange."

"Nope," said the door. "I'm outta here."

It henceforth departed existence.

Seven of the Bacons began hauling up and down on space-making bicycle pumps, making the inside of the room larger faster than the ring's expansion.

Other Bacons began to conjure trees, and houses, and cars, and other normal city-related things.

Malevolence lowered his axe  slightly, surprised. Then he ran toward the nearest Bacon with a widening grin. “Marvelous! Rebus may be the Antagonist, but you are my pick for the greatest living Narrator.”

The voice caused 9/10mmHB#2 to whirl around in surprise, as best as you could do while a disembodied spirit. Well, it wasn’t anything new to him. He couldn’t tell if that had been yet another host or… or what? What had he been thinking about?

No matter. He approached a darker door. It was locked shut, but 9/10 was a ghost. Or something. He attempted to pass incorporeally through the door.

“Oh shoot-“ Eden said. “It’s an underground daycare. Are these kids all orphans or sumthing?”

Inkwell found himself standing in an empty forest clearing. Several rectangular holes had been freshly dug around the clearing, piles of dirt next to them.

the door resisted, but eventually 9/10 was able to force his way through.

9/10 found himself once again in a body. This time, he was staring at a glowing sword. It was a marvelous creation, a masterwork of metal craft, and…

And it was fading. The sword’s glow darkened, its sharpened edge dulled. In seconds, the blade had faded back into the same dull mist that made up the rest of the landscape.

In that moment, it was all too much. The constant pain in his shoulder from that old wound, the constant isolation of this world he’d been banished to, and now the knowledge that anything he created would be lost.
Then, even more disturbingly, he felt himself began to fade. His hands began to merge with that mist just as the sword as. Horrified, he strove to fight against the sensation, and the fading receded. Even so, this was disturbing. Was he being forgotten so soon after his-

9/10  found himself back in the hallway, face-to-bodiless-being with a person made of fire and light.

“There you are. Found your way into my memories already, eh?”

Then he spoke again, a little more clarity in his voice. "Surely not. Reforging them would be inviting death upon us all. No one man can wield such power."

No man can wield the power of either Blade safely. I will reforge them in such a way that the Thread will no longer be plagued by either an Antagonist or a Protagonist.

“His name was lost to history.” Murmured the king. “As was that of the Traitor.” He glanced to the side. “We have… no more knowledge than what I have said.”
