This usage of power mattered not in a moment, however, as Malevolence was promptly lifted away from the offending ground. Malevolence coughed, struggling to free himself. "What-" He choked out. "What does joining you entail? What are the remnants of Plot?" Malevolence is not a Withergeist by the way. He has a Mordite blade forged by the Dreamsmith. It also always heavily damages the body. I think for continuity’s sake, Futility isn’t a pure mordite blade, but is now ink perfectly imitating the physical properties of mordite with actual mordite dispersed within the material, like an alloy, so it would be… diluted? But I’m curious as to any other magic things the material can do, since I’ve seen Darkseeker do some pretty awesome stuff. Reveal hidden contents 9/10mmHB#2 was flattered. Darkseeker is not exactly your average Mordite blade. It was made by the Dreamsmith with an inverted bond to Malevolence’s soul. Any Mordite blade (assuming a similar amount of Mordite made it up) could theoretically have similar power (it is a highly potent fundamental metal, after all) but normally those powers cannot be utilized without either bonding the blade (practically guaranteeing soul corruption) or already being aligned with Chaotic darkness. Without a bond, in the hands of an ordinary person, a Mordite blade will be a sword that can kill anyone. It will be resistant to Narration, (as in, a Narrator probably won’t be able to just vaporize it) will give unhealing wounds, and will be generally very good at destroying things. (Long-winded explanation of why the Dreamsmith would make Darkseeker for Malevolence) Spoiler Why did the Dreamsmith create Darkseeker for Malevolence? (Well, it was actually called Cowardice at first) The Dreamsmith has refused service to evil people before (Desolation is an obvious case, and Rebus he gave an invisible, undetectable weapon that basically does things that Rebus could already do) Suffice it to say, there are two reasons: First, Darkseeker will change as Malevolence changes. That’s what I meant by an inverted bond. Instead of the Blade corrupting Malevolence, he can corrupt it, so to speak. If Malevolence ever were to be redeemed, (very unlikely) the Blade would transform with him, becoming Prismite (the metal of Narrators) or even Luxite (a metal lost ever since the Witherlord destroyed the Luxsprites). The Dreamsmith hoped it would help Malevolence on the path to redemption, if he ever began that path. Second, the Dreamsmith has long held a dream, and he saw Malevolence’s coming as the opportunity to see that dream fulfilled. (No, I will not say what that dream is) Edited February 4 by NameIess

Inkwell is somewhere in the region of NG, while 9/10 is somewhere between LE and TN. He wasn’t sure exactly how he was going to do this. He considered drawing a hammer and blowtorch and trying to forge them together, then had a vision of flaming mordite shards tearing into his body and instantly killing him. He shook his head. As its creator, he had a certain idea of what the sword was. It was made out of stable inksteel, ink permanently mimicking the attributes of steel, conformed to a cognitive version of itself. It was so sharp it would cut through reality before it could touch flesh, and it would never grow dull. The sheath locked it in place. The entire thing was one step short of magic. How to enhance it, he didn’t know. Then it hit him. He flipped through his notebook and tore out the page that held The Futility of Language. Carefully taking in physical attributes of the mordite shard, he began replicating them onto the image of the page. The color, darker than the singularity of a black hole. The shape, shattered like a piece of crystal. The texture, smooth, with sharp edges where it had fractured. Slowly, as he began editing the picture of Futility, the shard began to sink into the inksteel. When he had finished, he scratched out the original title, and in a flowing cursive, renamed it. The Futility of Existence. The new blade was black, edges jagged and asymmetrical on different flats of the blade, and the Morse inscribed on the edge flashed magenta and turquoise as it changed. It exuded danger. He raised it, admiring its sheen. This was no longer a tool, meant for retreating. It was a weapon, meant for killing. Rebus whistled, though there was nobody around to hear. That was a blade both beautiful and deadly, and writing both immersive and clever. On 2/3/2026 at 11:07 PM, Aeoryi said: "Ah. So you believe yourself the more modern antagonist, is that what it is?" He ran his hand across the edge of Foreshadowing, and then looked up at Rebus. "We could make a pact, if needed. But I do not think that there is an issue worth doing that." “A pact is excessive - what I desire is closer to a transaction. I’m building a collection of sorts… Antagonist is powerful. Narrators often scoff at those who seek to fight them, but an Inkling counters their powers - protagonists are often entwined with their foes, one the fatal weakness of the other. That aspect is one you are well-suited to represent.” "You humor me, Narrator." Desolation said, "I think you have forgotten that a deal involves two parts. What are you ready to give up?" 1 hour ago, NameIess said: Malevolence hesitated. The offer was tempting, but… ”I… do not believe I can accept your offer.” He said reluctantly. “I cannot interrupt my plans, and the requirements would be too easily exploited by my enemies. Rebus could, for example, force me into a direct confrontation at any time, simply by attempting to claim a Plotblade I am sworn to protect. Further, he or others could use that to distract me when my plans require undiverted attention.” The villain’s grip tightened on Darkseeker, uncertain whether the Guardians would attempt to kill him now that their offer was refused. ”I will say this: I am intrigued by your offer, and your organization. I am willing to help you find someone who is willing to join you, or to help you test candidates. I simply am not able to commit myself to your organization as a full member.” "You see it as a weakness." Magenta hissed like a snake. "You see it as a losing scenario." Center growled at Magenta, silencing him. He spoke soothingly. "I respect that you wish to aid our organization in other ways. But the reluctance to make a promise is dangerous." Green Fire flared up his arm and into his fingers, the ones holding Malevolence. They stopped just before reaching contact with Malevolence. He could be burnt out in seconds, reduced to a pile of ash. "No. I will not kill you now." The Guardian decided. "You have proved too valuable as a fighter to eliminate now." "But to waste this opportunity..." Magenta warned Center. "Yes, I agree. We should capitalize on this situation." Center said. "I will not force you to become a member of the Guardians of Plot. But I will place conditions on my mercy." Magenta's neck extended until his draconic snout was barely centimeters away from Malevolence's eyes. "Deliver us a Plotblade within the next 100 pages, or we will find you and finish what should've happened here." "That seems fair," Center agreed, "Doesn't it, Malevolence?"

Writing fight scenes is hard, so I’m cheating the same way anime does - show individual moments that seem cool and justifying it with flash steps. That is how i do it to so dw, in fact in my head this plays out as an anime fight, if you have ever seen the fight between gojo and Miguel its kinda like, two op people bluring in a circle then one ultimate move. kyler tried to dodge but couldn’t, rebus hit his shoulder and he flew into the wall on the opposite side pf the room. He coughed some blood and grinned. He stood up and popped his shoulder back into place. “How many of these ultra moves can you do huh?” He ran forward again, not as fast as before. And faked a left hook to a right uppercut.

I am too evil to die in most circumstances. 57 minutes ago, DragonHeir said: Jack stepped in front of Lyric. “We would like to buy a journal and something to write with - oh, and a container of oil, for hinges and such.” "A journal and writin' implements?" The woman scowled and took a step back towards the door. "You wouldn' happen to be one of those Nar-rating types, would yah? Don't serve no Nar-ratin' types here." 37 minutes ago, Aeoryi said: "You humor me, Narrator." Desolation said, "I think you have forgotten that a deal involves two parts. Malevolence said. "Perhaps I'll give you Antagonist, after ripping it from Rebus's pathetic clutches." He grinned. "Shall I be on my way?"
