“Yes. Though I’ve been thinking it might be interesting to get some in the girl as well, since she’s not manifested any powers yet.”

He laughed. "What is there to sort out? You're working for an organization that kidnaps, imprisons, and experiments on people"

-

"B-but sir I thought we weren't experimenting on the girl anymore. It's the only way to keep him docile" she stammered

Regulus stared blankly ahead for a few more seconds, then continued speaking. "Nice to meet you Symbol! I presume you're a Narrator?"

Suddenly, a rather old and grizzled man atop a war horse passed Regulus on the road, albeit not very fast, as the horse itself was advanced in years. “Ho there boy! Have ye heard the news? Next town down, they say a Princess has been stol’n. Big ol’ dragon, and I mean real ol’ dragon, did it. It took a moment for the gears of Regulus's mind to process this, decrypting the old man's crude dialogue into a more processable form of language. As the old adventurer crossed a corner far down the road, Regulus gasped. "A princess has been kidnapped! And whoever saves her gets her hand in marriage?" His words sparked another memory of fond parental advice. This time, it was his mother's voice that filled his head.

"Regulus Leviticus Venture! If you so much as think of coming home married to some princess you met three days before the wedding, without so much as sending me a letter telling me and your father where that ceremony was to take place, I will hang the both of you out to dry with your little brothers' dirty socks!"

"Hm. Maybe I could just go for half the kingdom instead." Mused Regulus. Nevertheless, he set off on the same path as the old man had followed.

(For the astute Narrator who is wondering why Regulus's thoughts are once again privy to any with the knack for reading posts, it was because he had not yet remembered this vitally important piece of his father's advice regarding the protection of thoughts: "And remember, the most important thing is that you employ this technique constantly. If you let your mind slip, your thoughts will be as unprotected as anyone else's")

“Ah, good. My scanning agrees - though we should probably run a few more to figure out exactly what’s below us and how to access it.” Rebus stepped off the vehicle, which collapsed into a floating cart. He then unfolded an antenna, hitting a few buttons to begin a highly conspicuous scan of the area.

@TwinStorm

“I know how to access it, but I’d assume we’d prefer to catch their attention in some way.” She put her hands on her hips. “They’re very reclusive. Unless we seem to be making progress toward them, I sincerely doubt they’ll show themselves.”

“Of course it is,” she said consolingly. “As long as he thinks she’s all right.”

He paused.

Well… yes, but…….. I don’t wanna know how far they'll take it….

. . . Ah. Right . . . um, I'm sure we can wait until later tonight and just tell your parents, then? Unless that's what's bothering you, of course.

No, no, that would be nice.

So… we’re… together, then?

I-I guess . . . is that what you want? I'm alright with it.

No, it’s— not if you don’t want— it’s fine, he said quickly. We can just play it by ear if you want. Whatever you feel comfortable with.

Thanks. I'm fine with playing it by ear. You ready to go in?

He nodded and smiled. Yup

The house was quiet whrn he pushed the door open. Moss and River were on the couch reading, but nobody else was around.

Regulus nodded slowly, considering this. As he considered this, the advice of his father came to mind.

"Son, if a Narrator ever offers you three boons, not wishes, but boons, then you should first remember what I told you about protecting your thoughts from Narrators. Then, you should-"

Regulus stood with a blank look on his face for a good half minute. Finally, he spoke. "Having a father who sees the future can be confusing sometimes. Thank you for the boons."

AHAHAHAHA

“I’m sure it is,” she said amiably.

“By boons, I mean good things. I won’t be able to take things from other people or anything like that. I can teleport somebody in a beneficial way, give you an enchanted weapon, that sort of thing.”

"Ah, thanks." Regulus didn't look particularly surprised by this explanation. He continued walking in silence, eventually reaching the village.

Regulus didn't blink. His parents had long drilled into him the ways of adventuring in TLT, and his father's words ran through his mind as he turned to greet the mysterious woman.

"Son, always remember the guiding rule of TLT: If someone appears next to you without explanation, then they're most likely a Narrator. So be polite."

Back in the present, Regulus broke the somewhat awkward silence that had ensued while he replayed his flashback. "Yes, I am. I'm Regulus, what's your name?"

"Why don't you want anyone entering Ragnorok?" Moni twisted to make herself spin so she could see the rest of the tent.

He slapped her across the face. "You're a prisoner here. If the Lords of Ragnorok forbid your entry, then it is so."

Rebus nodded. “That all makes sense. I should know all of that already, but you know how Authors are. Maybe I’ll compile a lecture of some sort, something a bit more detailed than Fate’s overview… We’ll want the Diffuse Chaotic Light entity to tap into that ambient energy, though if they parallel the Chaotic Dark equivalents it will have far less raw power than a Narrator.”

“Ah, good. My scanning agrees - though we should probably run a few more to figure out exactly what’s below us and how to access it.” Rebus stepped off the vehicle, which collapsed into a floating cart. @TwinStorm

Kion was presumably there, and presumably unconscious and tied up.

He presumably was unconscious.

Just a little more tired-looking in a sad way kind of thing- why . . . ? :P

She nodded. I will.
