“Most exciting.” She grinned, then placed the tip of her nail on his forehead, sending hot tingles through his skin. Her voice took on a musical cast. “As I speak here, beneath stone borne from time and skies borne of wonder, all that you touch and command shall be ruined.”

She stepped back.

Malevolence looked down at his hands in wonder. "So... whatever I touch will dissolve?" He poked the table experimentally.

"Well you know how five-minute class breaks are. It lasted closer to fifteen." The Dreamsmith spins his hammer. "Alright, time to get forging. I shall grant you the weapon you desire. Now, because you're a curious type, I'll explain this to you. Everything I forge has three components: Power, Form, and Name."

The Dreamsmith brings his hammer down on the anvil and begins to forge. "The Power I take from you. A piece of your soul, to be made into something more specialized, more potent than it could be before. Sharpened and refined, you might say." As he spoke, a tiny thread of energy moved out of Rebus's chest and onto the Dreamsmith's anvil. "This step is easy for this weapon. You are a Narrator, soul filled with limitless potential. And what you have asked is not so hard." The Dreamsmith brought his hammer down in a flash of light that blinded Rebus for a few moments, and when it faded the power was vanished

"The second part is the Form. I take inspiration for the form from the task that is required of the weapon and the one I am making it for. In this case, the Form was simple." The Dreamsmith waved a hand in the air. "Besides redundancy, nanobots are also practically invisible. So I have made this weapon invisible as well."

The Dreamsmith closed his eyes, thinking deeply. "The Name is perhaps the most crucial element of any weapon or tool of importance. The ideal name must be unique, perfectly matched to the weapon it describes." His eyes opened, and he nodded to himself. "Your weapon I name Abstract. For it shall allow you to Narrate abstractly, creating Plots and characters that will generate conflict. It may even do so automatically from time to time. Additionally, it will automatically defend you via abstract Narration if necessary."

The Dreamsmith smiled at Rebus metallically. "Do you like it? It will follow you automatically and will be undetectable by your enemies. An excellent weapon for a Narrator like you, if I say so myself."

The Emperor gives a bow of his head. "This will suffice. I am immensely grateful for the service you have provided, not only me, but the inhabitants of all the realms." He says in a sort of melancholy way. "I am prepared for the consequences." He says bowing to one knee for the placement of the crown. "I will carry this duty with great honor."

The Dreamsmith places the crown upon the Emperor's head reverently. The spines of the crown stab into the Emperor's head, but there is no pain. Instead, it simply flashed, then vanished for the moment. "For now, the burden will be light." The Dreamsmith says softly. "But with each demon you capture, there will be a greater and greater burden upon you. I would destroy as many as you can. Use this Blade as a last resort."

"It is a most helpful attribute." Malevolence replied. "Is there anything else you wish to teach me? Or perhaps you need my help in your plan? If not, I believe I will prepare to make another attempt too kill Cricket and his companions."

Moni's muttering trailed off into incoherence. she cradled the hand that held Endings to her chest, fingers white on the handle.

The Dreamsmith furrows his brow. "I could. But I think that if you wish to master your negative traits, you should do so yourself." He turns to his forge. "Any more questions? If not, I shall begin."

This was fortunate for the rabbit. It crept closer to the wind and the clone, wondering why anyone would want to find paper. You couldn't eat paper. That name though... the name they'd spoken of. The Witherlord. The rabbit knew that name. And so it waited, and watched very carefully.

--

The Dreamsmith decides to assume for now the Emperor's assent. "I shall now make you your weapon." The Dreamsmith says. "If you are not content with it, then I shall see if I can modify it to your liking." Then he picks up his hammer and begins to work.

Three things every Blade needs: Power, Form, and Name. The Power for this Blade the Dreamsmith draws forth from the Emperor in a line of pure light. Deeply he draws upon the Emperor's soul, for great is the power of those within the Maelstrom. Wincing at the necessity, the Dreamsmith lays the power upon his anvil and splits it in two, leaving a strand of connection between the uneven pieces.

For the form, the Dreamsmith thinks deeply. Many forms could work adequately, but this Blade must be fit for an emperor, a ruler of people. So he takes the greater piece and strikes it again and again until it is shaped as is necessary. A jagged crown of light, likely to impale anyone who touches it. The Dreamsmith sets this crown aside and places the lesser piece on his anvil. Hammer moving deftly, he forms the lesser portion of power into a fierce spear that glows with the light of Narration and of the Emperor's gods. The connection remains between this spear of light and the twisted crown.

The name for this Blade is clear to the Dreamsmith. As the Blade is two parts, so it shall have two names. "This Blade I give to you is called thusly." He lifts the Spear, handing it to the Emperor. "Victory, for what it shall bring." He hefted the crown, but hesitated to place it upon the Emperor's head. "Victory comes through Sacrifice, and that is what this crown shall bring you. This Blade shall allow you to imprison the demons of the Maelstrom forever, not within another plane but within your own soul. Victory shall draw them in, and Sacrifice shall contain them. So long as you live, so long as you remain steadfast in faith to your gods, they will not break free. I warn you though, this will not come without pain." He held up the crown, the emberlike glow of his eyes dim and soft. "Do you accept this Blade, this burden? It is the best I can think to offer you, but I shall forge another if you wish it.”

@The Sly Cookie

It would be pretty impressive for this wind to have worked for the Witherlord, considering that it was entirely natural- created purely from the random movements of air molecules.
