Livetha pushed her way into his head and memories, trotting over to wrap around his neck. Don’t go away. We will protect you.

Beosta hurried over. “You okay?”

Cricket got to his feet, trying to smile, trying to ignore the ominous threat. "I'm--fine. Bacon, remember when we talked about why I ran away, the voice? Well that same voice spoke to me again, just now."

Zanitar strained against invisible forces as he climbed, trying to catch sight of Onyx's palace. In this realm, he would be able to stop the destroyer.

I mean... sometimes. Mine was literally Platypus

There was nothing for miles and miles around but dead trees.

There was a strange cry. A tattered black bird- a dream eater- swooped in at Zanitar. He could feel its cry tugging him towards sleep.

Hmm. I can't find a place by that description, replied the guide. I'm afraid it doesn't exist.

IM SORRY I HAD SCHOOL AND THEN I ALMOST DIED OF PNEUMONIA.

Still have school, but less pneumonia, so I'll see if I can avoid leaving for three weeks again.

Also, I almost gave up reading what I'd missed when I got to the pun battle. You guys need help.

The figure raised The Blade of Endings once more, and a dread light of darkness began to grow within it. "Do you tire, Platypus? I tire too. I am tired of this battle, this Thread... they are too limiting for me. I shall put them to an End, and I shall be free." The dread light within his Blade grew stronger and stronger, until it consumed Platypus's sight and blocked out all except the Blade of Endings and the silhouette of the one who wielded it. As Platypus watched, the figure swung the Blade down.

And tore the Thread in two. Not just the Thread, but the great barriers that trapped Narrators within the Thread shattered as well, finally broken so long after their creation, breaking apart to reveal uncounted worlds, now doomed to destruction that would match TLT's own.

Platypus felt himself falling, and he heard the laughter of the figure as he did. The laughter of a being who knew he had won.

Platypus's eyes opened. He was lying on his back on a cool stone floor. From his left came warmth, and the sound of a hammer against an anvil.

"Excuse me. I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I was invited." The Brave Adventurer walked up casually, idly tucking a stray strand of blond hair back into the carefully manicured wave atop his head. He wore a suit, and his beard was well trimmed. At his waist, a small sword dangled in its sheath, hilt gleaming with a shine that seemed... untouched. "I came as soon as I could. I could hardly deny a request for an audience from one of the oldest and wisest Narrators in the thread, now could I?" He checked the time on an iridescent pocket watch.

Welcome back! 🥳

"Ohoho!" said Bacon. "I don't believe we've been introduced."

I do believe Sequence is older than Platypus and Subversion, by the way. Earliest I could find mentioning her is 2021, and @Immortal Platypus didn't join the Shard until 2022. So yeah, oldest active Narrator in terms of pages alive for.

Subversion's soul returned to her body as her Author returned to the Thread, and her eyes fluttered open. In an instant (lucky her, took me a few hours) she saw all that had transpired while she was unconscious. "Oh, the Once Author's gone? That's... that's a pity." She said softly. "He was a good... once-Author, I guess." She looked at Nogard. "Thanks for getting me away from that... guy."

Nogard went slightly pink. "Ah, you're welcome. Um. You are alright, aren't you?"

... frowned. "I think we lo... no, I won't say that. Take note, Selppaenip. Never say that phrase that I was about to say. Or similar ones. Merely state reality as it is. I do not see the Silent Hero chasing us any longer. You understand?"

"I do not see the Silent Hero chasing us any longer," said Selppaenip dutifully.

Ista grinned. “Power needs be given,” she whispered. Then she wrenched away his anger, using her connection to him to try to amplify this. She also exploded him away from her.

Anger flowed from the destroyer. And flowed. And flowed. It whispered.

"do not trust them   do not trust anyone  they will fail you   we will not fail.  become United with us    we will take our vengeance"

No matter how hard Ista pulled, the river did not cease.

“Ahhhh!” Falvan cried, spinning his blade free of the above authors body.  It faded into the air quickly. But it left a noticeable resididue. A faint haze floated into Falvan’s chest. Then, in a moment, the rush of power ended.

It was done.

Falvan had ascended.

No more living a shadow. No more weakness. Falvan felt his power inside of him. Power and manipulation of the very nature of reality. Narration. He was invincible. Immortal. He turned to Nogard, smiling.

“You stand no chance against me. I have no quarrel with you, though if our insist on being a pestilence, I will. Choose wisely. I suggest you leave and forget about those you have come to know. Many of them will not last long.”

Falvan knew he would have to kill Arranis. But…he had kill Elab already. He was too deep to turn back. It was time to plan. Plot. Narrate. He would return.

Falvan disappeared.

Falvan needs a good narrator name…I may rename him…hmm…

Thanks Elan!

No problem!

Maybe I'll stick a new character in here later

For now, though, I think I'll leave them dead.

That's it? Alright, sure. He shrugged. And thanks again for your help. He smiled.

Beosta frowned at her stoat. Why’d you…

Did he hear me earlier?

 Livetha nodded.

Beosta sighed. Why did she even bother?

Which earlier?

In the fortress earlier or right before Livetha removed their connection?

“So we are going to the mountain?” Beosta asked. “Unless anyone else has a crisis that’s more important?”

I would very much like to keep my vision.

"Indeed!" said Bacon. "And right away. We don't want Cricket's mysterious bad guy catching up to us." He snapped, and a blank portal appeared. "What were the full name of those mountains again?"

“Just the Eternal Mountains.”

He should be able to portal there, but his Narration won’t work on any of the landscape

Ista shrugged, then took power from the anger, using Mirth’s tether. “I’d rather not. Lack of failure is lack of trying, yadda yadda yadda, hope you’re listening, Onyx, and stop being so angry, you who they nickname ‘destroyer’.”

Ista froze molecules of moisture between those of the crystals keeping her bound, increasing the pressure and shattering the crystals. Ista held out a hand, and the destroyer felt a great urge to sleep. She pushed her hand forwards, and he zipped onto a sharp crystal of ice she had formed behind him.

"Lead the way," said Bacon with a flourish and a bow.

Is this the place where Beosta's school is?

"Ista!" cried the inspector. "Don't let it in!

The rage kept flowing.

The destroyer slammed against the ice. He hung from it, suspended, his empty eyes watching.

He is weak. We can destroy him.

“This way.” She picked a random direction and strode purposefully over the snow.

Ista wavered, but her Thread was tethered to Intellect and Mirth. She saw her own emotions clearly through the haze. “Hatred is something I would expect from Rage. You two would like each other, I believe.”

She smiled. “I have decided to spare your servant, Onyx. But if it comes to my life or his, I think I know which I would choose.” Ista raised a hand, and a long, elegant sword formed of ice appears in her hand. She raised it defensively. “An urge to learn is not limited to academic studies, my friend Onyx. I can and will defend myself.”

Tam gasped when she saw it. "You still have that?" she laughed, "That's awesome."
