Shoe XD

The man pulled a large sword out of a sheath at his side. “Speak a single word and you die. I promise I am perfectly capable.” His fingers trembled a little, though, Beosta noticed.

“We are willing to parley,” he said, pulling the bars back to let them out. “Quickly.”

Beosta glanced at Shoe. She could probably take him.

I know 😂

Well, the speaking won't be a problem. He looked at Beosta, and she looked at him. She seemed ready to fight.

Hang on, he motioned with his hands, let's see what's going on here.

He hopped she got the message.

Shoe wasn't sure what to think of the man.

He waved.

The man pulled out a thick sword. “I’m perfectly capable of taking both of you, so don’t say a word.” Beosta did note his hands trembling as he reached to unlock the bars, though.

“We are willing to parley,” he continued, pulling the bars open for them. “Quickly.”

Beosta glanced at Shoe. She was sure she could take this dude. Probably.

My phone be weird

The man eyed them as they stepped out. Beosta made no move to incapacitate the man (yet). Instead, she followed him. Well, kind of. He walked behind and to the side of them, pointing directions. He moved slower than Beosta would have liked.

They walked through a few different corridors, but there was nothing of interest that Shoe could see. He eyed the guard suspiciously and walked a bit closer to Beotha.

The guard, clearly nervous, led them to a room with two plushy armchairs set up across from a large, long couch on which four people sat. They all drew weapons upon seeing them enter, and one gasped and murmured something that could have been a prayer.

They startled.

A man with a long gray beard motioned the guard to sit on the couch as well.

He must be one of them, not just a guard, Beosta thought. It’s some kind of council.

“Sit,” the bearded man boomed.

Beosta narrowed her eyes at him.

Shoe nudged her, gave her a look that said don't hurt anyone, and then sat in one of the armchairs.

Beosta sighed, then sat.

“We have some questions. Answer only by nodding or shaking your heads. Are you from here?”

Beosta was too busy thinking about the best way to escape to pay them much heed.

She blinked at him blankly.

“Do you mean us harm?”

The council whispered amongst themselves, then handed Shoe a piece of paper and a pencil. “This might be easier. What are your intentions here?”

Shoe looked at Beosta. What were their intentions here?

To find our lost stoat, he wrote, then handed it to Beosta. Anything else to add?

To do something heroic.

The councilman narrowed his eyes at her. “Something heroic,” he echoed. “Very well. I’ve just the thing. Take them back to the cell— temporarily,” he told them quickly. “Just until we can make the necessary arrangements. A servant will be by to collect a description of this missing stoat, and we shall find it as well.”

Beosta was cool with that.

They were taken back to the cell, and after the door was locked, Shoe wrote to Beosta, I wonder why no one here is sunburned.

She couldn't help laughing, even though it was a very legitimate musing. Maybe they have some kind of magic or something.

"I--I was just seeing if Azar was there... where are we? Why are we so high up?"

"We're on top of a building. It was the nearest place I could find. Who's Azar?"

Maybe. He smiled and sat back on the bench.

And now we wait, he wrote.

Before she could sit next to him, however, she vanished through no fault of her own.

I'll write out the interaction but it might be fun for him to react

Shoe stumbled back, startled. He looked around but didn't see her anywhere.

Beosta?! he thought, even though she had never been able hear his thoughts before. BEOSTA!!

He tried to peek out of the cell. Argh, everything would be so much easier if I could just TALK, he thought angrily.

Is she actually gone or just like, invisible or smth

"Alright then, if you say so!! How do I help that cause exactly?"

"The Council of Brave Adventurers."

"And... what is that?"
