The figure's Blade slammed into the ground. Where the Blade had struck, a wave of nothingness, of Endings, began to spread. The figure laughed. "Do you yet feel bravery? Do you yet trust in hope? Come, defeat me, take Vengeance for all those I have slain."

"Trust in hope? Me? I'm about as pessimistic as it gets (or at least my Author is). And bravery isn't something I feel. It's something I am. Who all have you slain? Everyone? Subsy? Thaidakar is beyond your reach. Everyone else?"

He struck the ground with his Luxblade, making new land in a space that had Ended.

The General blocked Zanitar's attack with ease due to the eyes in the back of her head. "Narrator, I appeal to you. Why do you shield these people? Do you have some design that involves their continued freedom? Would it not make for a better story if just a few of them were captured?"

Also, it would be hard to destroy Endings by attacking a version of it that's not really real.

yeah, that too :P

"Ya know... You've got a point." He disengaged, and Zanitar followed his lead, though both kept their guard up. "I didn't particularly want Nogard getting hurt, cause I don't want Onyx mad at me, but besides him and Erif, I won't stop you from taking your pick of two of the others. I can Narrate you there right now if you want!"

The mask lifted to reveal a mass of bruises that was barely recognizable as a face. Subversion's nose was broken in three places, and her left eye was swelled shut. More than half her teeth were gone as well. "How bad is it?"

Nogard paled. "Does... anyone have a first aid kit? OA?"

The intruder remained silent, but his gaze was locked on Selppaenip.

"Apprentice! Watch yourself. That is the Silent Hero, the most deadly member of the Council of Brave Adventurers." ...'s voice was almost a whisper, but the Silent Hero's eyes swiveled in his direction immediately, piercing through the normalcy field in an instant. "Apprentice, he has the unique ability to channel the spirit of past heroes. You will not best him in battle."

"Are we to simply let him capture us, then?"

The OA narrated one into existence, handing it to Nogard, watching Subversion.

"That's... not good."

"SERIOUSLY WHO ARE YOU AND HOW DID YOU GET HERE." The OA says in distress. No one, no one should have access to this pocket dimesion.

The intruder was as silent as his name suggested as he stalked towards Selppaenip.

He struck the ground with his Luxblade, making new land in a space that had Ended.

The Ended space yielded to Platypus's attempts to renew it, but he could do nothing to stop the wave from spreading further. "Subversion? Ah, that was a battle. She and Moniker attacked me together, along with a Nameless reborn by act of his Author. They are dead now. As are Unintelligible, Sequence, The Once-Author, and others. Most recently, I killed some fool called... what was his name? Hacob? Yes, that was it." The Blade of Endings flashed for Platypus's neck once more. "Do you think yourself strong enough to avenge them?"

"No need. This strike force was just to split your group up and distract the strongest fighters. The others will do their parts well enough."

"Perhaps that was a bit too far." Subversion muttered. "Lets... try that again."

*time warpy noises*

The mask lifted to reveal a black eye, and some light bruises around the edges of the mask, where it had been pressed into Subversion's face. "See? told you I wasn't hurt."

"No. We must still strive to escape. This is another key aspect of normalcy. When a problem is impossible to face head-on, the normal people look for a way around it. Or in this case, a way away from it."

The Creation flowed after the wave of Ends, filling in what was removed.

"That does sound like quite the fight. Moni and Nameless, with extra Narrative support would be tricky to deal with."

Platypus raised Vengeance, parrying the blow, and fell into a fighting stance.

"No. I know I am."

"She was hit by the General- thing- with a mace."

"What do you mean, escape? We're not trapped here. I could take us out at any time. I have absolute control here, I could reverse gravity, change the weather, make food, water, destroy it, anything. I could snap my fingers and get us out of here." The OA said.

He paused.

"But yeah, I can do that."

The figure struck again, and it felt to Platypus as if the strength of the entire Thread struck with him. The figure laughed. "I am invincible!"

Shoe gave her a curious look. What was that?

Her smile faltered and she looked down again. It’s not important. We’ll be able to finish in time.

Scuddit, she hadn’t meant to write that last part. She didn’t want him to know there was a time limit.

"Well, you could always do what Onyx did and set up a competition for it."

@Sequence

“No… No, I don’t think so. I need to be absolutely 100% sure that I can trust whomever I’m giving it to, and I feel like a competition like that wouldn’t be a sure way of finding out. And also, I don’t even think I’m going to give Conflict away yet. That was just a thought, not a decision.”

{Kind of. We negotiated with the General. She made a proposition about a more exciting plot which sounded good to me.}

When do you have to finish it by?
