A robust man (a local with pale white skin) wearing a rich amber robe strode down the hallway and gave them both warning stares. 

Beosta stepped back. There was something beyond mortal weight in that gaze.

The man pulled a large sword out of a sheath at his side. “Speak a single word and you die. I promise I am perfectly capable.” His fingers trembled a little, though, Beosta noticed. 

“We are willing to parley,” he said, pulling the bars back to let them out. “Quickly.” 

Beosta glanced at Shoe. She could probably take him.
