Nogard let out a cry of alarm. He flicked the spear, sending a wave of muffins to clear the way in front of him as he ran to where Subversion had fallen.

Subversion lay still, barely breathing. Her Narrationblade, in the form of a mask, covered half her face where she'd summoned it to block the mace at the last second.

"Very well."

Platypus stood in a field that had recently been the scene of a battle. Before him, a man wept.

Hacob finally snapped back to reality and saw what was happening, just in time to see Subversion get walloped. Yikes. That's gotta hurt.

Not knowing exactly what to do, but not wanting Subversion to be hurt, even if she did deserve it, he Narrat- crap, Nogard was still there. That makes this much harder.

"Nogard! Get her to safety!" he called, gesturing to Subversion. His voice turned grim, and his eyes flashed darkly. "Zanitar, we'll take care of the rest of them."

His Narrationblade dropped into his hand, and he pulled a shield off his back. Can't fudge this fight too much using Narration, or he'll notice, but if I don't use anything, it'll be nigh-impossible to defeat this many brave adventurers. I'll figure it out as I go.

Hacob ran at the General and attacked.

Zanitar's dual Brightwields formed and he met up with Hacob in the charge.

The General turned to face them, swinging her maces with incredible skill. Careful Hacob. Subversion's thoughts were weak and wavering. One of those maces can disrupt Narration.

Wow. Leave to sleep/read aether of night, and soooo many pages. Don’t worry, I read them, and I am 95% sure nothing happened to Jilu other than she’s fighting soldiers.

As the tidal wave of muffins swallowed the enemies, Jilu silently charged the General from behind as he was focusing on deflecting muffins.

As if the General had eyes in the back of her head, one of the maces swung towards Jilu, loosing a lightning bolt directly at her.

The beast is struck, but the wave of emotions in the battle sustains her, and she does not falter.

Chasms, speak for yourself,” she shot back, irritated. “And what about you? Where’d you come from? I can’t make fun of you if I’ve got nothing to go off of.” She paused. “Besides your hair. Purple doesn’t suit you.”

Duly noted. He quickly ducked a mace and jumped over a different one. Thanks for the info.

He blocked a hit on his shield, wincing as he saw it crack. He quickly Narrated back to normal, then continued to fight. Even with Zanitar's help, they were being pushed back by the General. Guess I'll finally have to use those tools.

Zanitar laughed as he fought the General. This was what life was! Never knowing what would happen next, just you vs the enemy. This "General" was good. Almost too good. Magic weapons? His eyes flashed as lightning zipped out of one of the maces at someone attacking from behind. Yep. Magic weapons. His Brightwields glowed as they met with one mace, then another, then another. Slowly, they would sap the magic from those maces. It would make this a fair fight.

The General growled inhumanly, swelling in size. “Fools!” Her maces swung even faster, till they were no more than blurs. As Zanitar’s Brightwields met the last of the General’s maces there was a flash of light, and he realized with shock that it had sapped some magic back.

The Great Wizard was staring mournfully at a fallen adventurer. He shook himself, turning to assess the battle. The maces of the four Ghandeflaffle kings? This is bad. Time to get involved before anyone else gets hurt. He moved to join the battle against the General, but froze as a figure appeared. The Valiant One held a brilliant Shardblade and his expression was grim. “Do you have enough blood on your hands?” He shouted, “Or is your thirst for death not yet quenched? Once, I thought you held life in higher regard. What a fool I was.” He raised his Blade and charged.

An arm caught Selppaenip’s shoulder. “Apprentice, be careful.” …’s normalcy field was so strong that even Selppaenip’s eyes could barely notice him. “The General is skilled at combat, but her prowess in a fight is nothing compared to her strategical mind. She has a plan, and I fear you all might be falling into her trap.”
