What are your plans for the stoat they’re looking for?

Yrank knows what she looks like, and where he saw her last, but is mainly relying on Livetha I guess. 😶‍🌫️

Shoe sighed and gratefully sank into the blankets.

He grabbed the notepad and pen again.

Careful not the rip the wet paper, he wrote:

Where are we? And to Beosta: You can't talk again?

Stupid freaking stoat. I don’t know where we are. The paper ripped under her pen and she growled in frustration.

Are you gonna be the stoat? I can if you’d prefer

I guess Yrank never bonded her, more like a friendship, so if she still exists, I guess you can narrate her (but sometimes I guess I would need to narrate her so I dunno)

Omen did not move. "The path to the Dreamsmith is not meant to be one of safety. Are you prepared to face your trial?"

"If I only did things that are meant to be safe, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have done anything I've done. I am prepared for your trials."

Subversion's fight was not going well. Arms sprouted from the General's back to catch any muffins or other projectiles that came her way, and her maces came at the flagging Narrator from all angles. Subversion's brilliant Narrationblade moved like lightning, but she was unable to do anything but stay alive. Light, she's good. Not good enough to beat me, of course, but it is good to know that I'm immortal. One the General's arms split suddenly, reaching towards Subversion's legs to trip her. Quickly, Subversion swung her Narrationblade down to sever the new limb, shoulder-length hair spinning around her face.

One of the General's maces flashed, and Subversion's Blade vanished. It reformed the next moment, but by then it was too late. The General's arm knocked Subversion off balance and she swung wildly, trying to-pain shot through Subversion as a mace took her in the head, sending her flying into a pile of muffins.

One down. The General turned, assessing the battle. Muffin men next she decided, extra arm casually catching a muffin and stuffing it into her mouth. She leapt forwards, closing the distance between her and them in an instant.

@Through The Living Glass@The H

Hacob finally snapped back to reality and saw what was happening, just in time to see Subversion get walloped. Yikes. That's gotta hurt.

Not knowing exactly what to do, but not wanting Subversion to be hurt, even if she did deserve it, he Narrat- crap, Nogard was still there. That makes this much harder.

"Nogard! Get her to safety!" he called, gesturing to Subversion. His voice turned grim, and his eyes flashed darkly. "Zanitar, we'll take care of the rest of them."

His Narrationblade dropped into his hand, and he pulled a shield off his back. Can't fudge this fight too much using Narration, or he'll notice, but if I don't use anything, it'll be nigh-impossible to defeat this many brave adventurers. I'll figure it out as I go.

Hacob ran at the General and attacked.

Zanitar's dual Brightwields formed and he met up with Hacob in the charge.

You probably should, so just have her pop up whenever

After resting for a few minutes, Yrank addressed the stoat. "Livetha, You told me you were able to help. Tell me," he said, using his gentlest voice, "how exactly do you plan to find Castom?"

EDIT: Sure thing, just make sure to give me tips, I'm a bit new to narrating sapient animal buddies.

Livetha lifted her nose and sniffed, then squeaked at him and scurried into the forest.

Just make sure they’re animals and not people? Idk just follow your instincts

Beosta was incredibly frustrated. She felt like some thing on a leash— this wasn’t her side quest! Livetha had only brought her along because they were bonded.

So why was Shoe here?

gn for me too :P

Wow. Leave to sleep/read aether of night, and soooo many pages. Don’t worry, I read them, and I am 95% sure nothing happened to Jilu other than she’s fighting soldiers.

As the tidal wave of muffins swallowed the enemies, Jilu silently charged the General from behind as he was focusing on deflecting muffins.

jumping back in lol

Sasha had avoided the whole battle. Yes, she was a skilled fighter. But she didn’t have her morningknives. And she was dead anyway.

Dead. She thought about that a lot.

Please, please let Safren be okay. Don’t let him…

She shook her head. Don’t think about that.

Wait, was that Shoe? And…. the stoat, and that other girl? Leaving? Maybe she could join them. She wasn’t going to be of use here, and she’d rather not be lonelier than she had to. She ran after them and grabbed onto the stoat so she wouldn’t get left behind, but she couldn’t think of anything to say.

She looked around instead, noticing the sky for the first time.

She’d never seen the sky before. It was so….. big. Open. And kind of terrifying.

She wondered if one day Safren would see the same sky after the trials were over.

“I didn’t know it was blue,” she remarked to nobody in particular.

Sasha looked at the ground. “A lot of us don’t know anything about the Above.”

“The Above?” Beosta snorted. “What, did you walk out of some sci-fi drama?”

“I grew up in a dungeon. Underground. It’s a system of caves and caverns, all connected by corridors, some manmade. We all live in cells or apartments, but you can only afford the nice ones if you’re rich. It’s dangerous outside the Alliance, and it’s easy to get killed.”

She realized for the first time that she was angry. She’d lived her whole life down there in the dark, scrounging for scraps and fighting monsters for a living, and the moment it started getting decent, she died.
