"Under a mountain? Did you find any?" Nogard shook his head. "Never mind, that's off topic. Now, when you say under the mountain- you were spelunking?"

The Brave Adventurer watched the gathering crowd with satisfaction, contemplating the stir his announcement would cause. The high council of adventurers assembled around him, one by one arriving with and settling themselves down on their elegant chairs around the nonagonal table and regarding the crowd of regular adventurers that packed the edges of the room. Their expressions were disapproving, which was no less than the Brave Adventurer had expected.

The Unseeable Thief arrived, bringing the number of present Council members to six. Perfect. If all goes well, that fool the Great Wizard won't even know we're meeting until it's too late.

He stood, and addressed the rest of the council. "Shall we call the council to order?"

The Valiant One stood quickly. "We cannot begin! The council is not yet fully assembled! The Great wizard and the Wise Scholar are still not present!"

"I am aware, but my news cannot wait. I am the acting Brave Adventurer, and I tell you that this cannot wait. The council must act as soon as possible, or doom will befall the entire thread."

Reluctantly, the Valiant One nodded, then sat back down. Around the nonagonal table, the other council members nodded as well. The Ancient Flaffle stood, and spoke the formalities.

"The council of the Order of the brave adventurers is now in session. Brave adventurer, what is your news?"

The Brave adventurer stood, opened his mouth, then paused, pretending to hesitate. It wouldn't do to seem too eager to spread news of this magnitude.

When he continued, he did so confidently, in a clear voice that carried to the watching adventurers.

"I have the direst of news. I have received reliable information that the two most dangerous Plotblades, the Plotblades that would tear TLT asunder, do in fact exist."

is he back or is this a different Brave Adventurer?

Deep in his fortress, Platypus felt the air stir. There was news. A new plot was arising? Platypus realized he should have expected this. Thaidakar's Author may be gone, but Nameless was still here. He straightened up, then slouched again. He was too old for all this adventuring. Hacob would have to go to represent his Author. No, Hacob was visiting with Nowhere and Impossible. He wouldn't want to leave, and Platypus liked what he was doing there. No. It was finally time. Platypus would have to do it...

He would make an Avatar.

He nodded at the hamster, then opened a portal. He saluted the others in the group, and stepped through, closing it behind him.

It's a different one. An elected position in the Order of the Brave Adventurers.

--

Somewhere far away, a room was filled with dramatic gasps and mutterings.

The Valiant One stood, a look of confusion on his face. "Did we not already know this? Vengeance has been held by Platypus for some time. As for the other one... Is it Endings, perhaps? Or Unity? I do not see how this is such dangerous news that you needed to announce it in such a way."

The Brave Adventurer smiled thinly and replied, keeping his eyes on the crowd. "Vengeance is the most powerful of the Plotblades, but it is not one of the two most dangerous Plotblades. Both of these Plotblades are so dangerous that any who could claim one of them would be unstoppable, or nearly so." He tilted his head to the side as if considering something. "It is possible that someone, wielding Vengeance with the utmost skill and power, could defeat one of these Plotblades. Individually, they each have less power than Vengeance, although they are much easier to use at full power. But if both of these Blades were found and wielded by the wrong hands, there would be no stopping them."

The dramatic gasps and mutterings had grown louder, and even the members of the high council were looking uneasy. The Ancient Flaffle stood again, speaking loudly and projecting calm around herself.

"Then we shall find these Plotblades and make sure that they do not fall into the wrong hands. We will put them under our protection. This order was formed to help avoid calamities like the one these Blades could cause, and we will do so."

The Brave Adventurer nodded, acknowledging the Ancient Flaffle's words.

"Indeed. If that were the end of it, I would not have called such a meeting as this. But I have still more dire news." He took a deep breath, pretending to steady his nerves. "The same source that confirmed the existence of these Plotblades has confirmed to me that the Great Wizard has known of their existence since before he was elected to the High Council, and has kept it secret out of a desire to claim one or both of them for himself."

Two new ones have been discovered, and they are very dangerous. Also the Brave Adventurer is trying to manipulate things with potentially evil motives.

Platypus, listening in to the conversation, nodded. I need to send my Avatar to stop anyone from getting their hands on those blades. The research suggests that Plotblades can be destroyed, it just takes immense power to do so. The kind of power that Vengeance provides, combined with my own... skills should be enough.

A portal appeared, and a hamster walked out of it with the OA's computer.

"Wonderful. Thank you," said Platypus, as the hamster left to go back and live with his family.

Platypus put the computer on a shelf. The shelf also held a Blade made of gleaming Prismite, which sometimes shifted materials as Platypus changed from Narrator to Luxsprite or Ennuller and back. Next to that blade was a red blade with black spots all across it, looking like rust for a normal blade. In addition to all of that, the shelf held two more items. Two Plotblades: Vengeance, and Plot development, which Platypus had acquired from Hacob.

That could also be useful. Anyway, it's finally time. I've avoided doing this after what happened with Bookwyrm's Avatar, but I don't think I really have another choice.

Platypus sat, cross-legged on the ground, meditating. When he rose, there was a man in the room with him. His silvery skin sending shimmering lights all around him, the man rose, and unfurled a pair of spectral black wings. He looked up, and opened his electric blue eyes that seemed to see into your very soul. Twin blades made of a glowing white metal formed in his hands, and the man nodded at Platypus and Platypus nodded back. The man exited Platypus' fortress and flew off. His destination? Far away, where a part of the council of the Order of the brave adventurers met.

plotblades can pretty much continue as long as we have more elements of plot.

But also, like, the plot blades.

ah, plotblades. I'm fond of them (as I kind of invented them) Long story short, a while ago, there was a dude named Plot. He was the physical embodiment of plot. He got killed by popular vote (cause TLT), but one person voted not to kill him, so his power went into his Blade, Vengeance. That was the first Plotblade. Plotblades are all named after elements of plot and have certain powers related to that.

This is the list of plotblades and their wielders (to my knowledge). It is a little outdated, but mostly accurate.

Spoiler
  • Vengeance (Platypus (Immortal Platypus))
    • This blade empowers itself and the wielder when the wielder desires revenge. It has the narrowest scope of abilities, but it has the most concentrated power of Plot, due to it being his original blade.
  • Suddenly, Pineapples (Onyx (xinoeph512))
    • This blade’s powers/abilities are determined by the person with the most posts on TLT (currently nameIess). It has the most consistent power level, and cannot go up or down due to it drawing power from both chaos and plot. if chaos goes up, then plot must go down, and the blade remains the same strength. The same principle is true of plot going up.
  • Side Character (Rirrom (aeoryi))
    • This blade transforms the wielder into a side character, including the lack of capability to beat the antagonists
  • Character Development (Arranis (scars of hathsin))
    • This blade can change the wielder and others, though it is hard to control
  • Character (Spook (thaidakar the ghostblood))
    • This blade’s powers are unknown (Some powers are known (I think) but I don't want to track them down right now.)
  • Foreshadowing (Desolation (aeoryi))
    • This blade can Foreshadow what is to happen, specifically to a character that it slashes. It can also send people to a Foreshadowing, whether it is a fulfilled one or not.
  • Plot development, currently altered into Plot Significance (Hacob (Immortal Platypus) but bonded to Rirrom (aeoryi))
    • Plot development's powers are unknown, but Plot Significance can stop an arc with just a scratch. It is highly unstable and probably would not survive more than one scratch
  • Drama (Nerdy (NerdyAarakocra))
    • This blade can do basically anything as long as it causes drama (as far as is known)
  • Analysis (Nobody (nameIess))
    • This blade lets the wielder instantly analyze their foe’s strengths and weaknesses, but stops all communication
  • Conflict (Sequence (sequence))
    • This blade lets the wielder grow (or shrink) in power to match their opponent. It is currently combined with Sequence’s Narrationblade causing unknown effects
  • Unity (currently in multiple pieces (echo of main piece in the hands of Avatar (the bookwyrm), actual main piece in the hands of Rym (also the bookwyrm), splintered piece in the hands of the fused destroyer (Xinoeph512), and another piece in the hands of an unknown monster (nameless*). The splintered piece has developed sentience.
    • It is currently unknown what this blade could do if it was whole.
  • Lore (Onyx (xinoeph512))
    • Controls continuity. Has never truly been wielded.
  • Endings (Moniker (nameIess))
    • This blade’s powers are unknown, aside from being able to End nearly anything. It is currently held by Moniker, though Subversion used it in a duel with Platypus. It is unclear if it is now bonded to Subversion.

Also, I just noticed how many plotblades NameIess has. Xino has a lot too, but his are all controlled by Onyx, and who knows if/when he'll come up again.

Wowowow. So… I, of course, neeeeeed one.
So here is an idea.

Spoiler

Twists:

The plot blade has power according to the victim.
The plot blade is more powerful the less is known about the victim or their companions.
It fills this void of knowledge with a plot twist that changes the character to the opposite of what they seem to want.

For example, if pretty much everything is known about a character, it might be, “oh no, they’re allergic to space rock!”

But if there is nearly nothing known about the character, then it might be, “they’ve been working for the enemy the entire time!” Or “they wanna die”

FYI you don't need to approve things with people :P

and you don't need one, they're pretty rare. pretty much the only one that sees consistent use is Vengeance, with Endings popping up now and again. Onyx, Desolation, Rirrom, and Nobody are from arcs that happened a while ago. Sequence sometimes shows up, but not commonly. Thaidakar isn't here anymore. Avatar and Rym (or rather, bookwyrm) haven't been here in a while. The fused destroyer and unknown monster are from that same arc that never got finished.

You are welcome to have one though, if you want one. As for that concept, you might want to call it Plot Twist(s) rather than just Twist(s). And it seems like a fine design to me

Ok. I think instead of a character having one, I’ll have one of my new characters based on their search for a runour of a rumour of a powerful weapon (which will be Plot Twists)

Tull licked his lips. He had come from the village in search for the man who started the rumor. He was close now. He could smell it.

”Ten years ago, you started a rumor. You told your closest friends, and they told their’s, and it reached me. Now I would like to know. What were the foundations of that rumor?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

”Think. You told of a blade capable of bending chance against its victims. A powerful weapon. I will give you five seconds to talk.

”I don’t know anything!” The man said this hurriedly. “I heard of it in that castle over there. I heard a rumor of a blade of that caliber while in employ there. You would have better luck searching there.”
Tull nodded. “Thank you for your cooperation.” He left without another word.

Don't tell me the hamster is Platypus' avatar...

The OA sat in a nearly empty cave. It was lit by eerie blue light, much like one of the Great Moons of Ichaii. But... no, that was somewhere far distant. He stared at the book in front of him. Words covered every page, each one pulsing with a phantom power. He held a pen, flipping to the last page.

And so I write these last words in this memento of a god soon to be dead. He wrote carefully, In hopes that someday it will be found and I will not be forgotten. He closed his eyes and sighed, sitting back in his chair and putting down the pen.

The book closed, and the Once Author opened a portal. The cavern began to collapse inwards, folding on itself. By the time he stepped through it had all but disappeared.

And so a new journey begins... he thought to himself, one last journey. He began walking down a road, to where the darkness he sensed was emanating. Make it count.

he's not. He existed before Platypus made his Avatar. but he is a servant of Platypus. And Platypus wanted that computer.

Overhead, a man flew with spectral black wings. He descended gracefully.

"Hello OA. I am Zanitar. I am the Avatar of Platypus. He says that we seem to be going towards the same purpose and that I should join you."

A very muddy Shoe waved hello.

Platypus, watching all from afar, wondered who Shoe was waving to. Zanitar and the OA were quite far away, but  perhaps...

Oh, and now they were close. Good. Zanitar's magic was working properly.

You stole my computer. 😠

The Once-Author nodded. "Nice to meet you, Avatar of Platypus. I am, as you already seem to know, OA. You were sent to the meeting of the Council of the Order of the Brave Adventurer as well?"

correct. It could be important

"I was not sent, though it was close to it. I was asked by Platypus to investigate, and I chose to comply."
