Doomslug graciously accepted Thaidakar's knowledge, and understood a minor amount of the gears.

Doomslug understood that if the Spider hurt the Explorer, the universe would end.

Harnessing Narrative power, he crushed the spider. The explorer lived, and continued to explore.

But Doomslug's knowledge was limited and incomplete. For the spider had been a critical cog in the gearworks of the universe... and now it was gone.

The ripple effects of that decision would not be immediately apparent for much time yet, but they were inevitable.

For now, they manifested in the slightest stuttering of the gears. In a momentary grinding. The explorer halted, staring in confusion, hearing for the briefest instant a distant grinding. Then the gears went on, and the universe resumed its normal pace. For now.

1 minute ago, Doomslug The Destroyer said:

An avatar of Doomslug, a being that should have been dead.

But wasn't.

And it was back.

And just as soon as that, it was dead, slain by the invader.

The gears fell, one by one. Slowly, for now. No one would know what was happening until it was too late.

But the being was not content. This destruction came too slowly for his liking. So he sought the center. The source of all the order in this universe.

He strode forwards, one step at a time, moving closer and closer-

But what was this? A barrier, invisible yet impenetrable, constructed of pure order. He stood no hope of getting through.

Finally, the door got tired of sitting around in Thaidakar, so it exited backstage, causing many splinters in unwelcome places.

The grand halls of the clockwork universe felt the sting of disarray.

They could not feel emotion. But they were perturbed.

It was decided that only an outsider could fix what an outsider had broken.

Meanwhile, the being of chaos gave up. The barrier was simply impenetrable to him. No being of pure chaos could get through it. Angered, he searched the universe for a way through the barrier. But it was useless. Nothing in the universe could ever aid him. It was all purest order, not the slightest taint of chaos. Then he saw her.

The being of chaos did something that he had not done for a very long time.

He smiled.

Patience, he thought to himself. He had waited long enough for this moment. He could wait a little while longer.

Bell 536A scurried across the track towards the explorer, jingling repeatedly to attract her attention.

536A came to a halt. There was a quiet tick-tick-tick as it rearranged its sound-making devices.

"Hello, outsider," it stated.
