She'd been having a horrific day already, and just... what was the point? What was the point?

She'd never thought she'd end up as a Great Vacuum Cleaner driver. When she was a little girl, all she had wanted to be was a...

Doomslug wandered the space between moments, the time between times.

The power of Narration gave him access to everything the Physical, Cognitive, and Spritual realms had to offer, but he was bored, to be honest.

So, she left. She stayed with her friend for a few months while working as a janitor for a random elementary school, a burger flipper at McDonalds, and a scribe for Bridge Four. Eventually, she was able to move into her own apartment and go to school. She moved on to get a Master's degree in Universe exploration, and became a Universal paleontologist. Life was good.

Doomslug watched Nameless influence the life of the Great Vaccum Cleaner driver.

He appeared next to Nameless, watching as Nameless let another lesser Narrator help.

"Lesser Narrator? There are no lesser narrators here." Nameless glanced around. "I thought X's avatar was here somewhere, but its probably better that he's not. And he's a far better narrator than I am."

The former vacuum driver longed to explore deep within the universe's depths, but she could not.

Doomslug smiled, and bowed his head.

"Apologies. I am new to the power of Narration. I had assumed there was a hierarchy. It appears I was wrong."

"Now as for your influence on this universe's knowledge...Why gears?"

"Why not gears? It seems logical enough. And anyways, I'm not the one who made the gears in the first place. That was the narrator who doesn't exist. Or maybe something else. Not sure what it is."

"Narrators. A finnicky bunch, aren't we?"

Fortunately for her, or perhaps unfortunately, another guide was swiftly approaching. Drawn by the break she caused in the normally orderly workings of the universe, a guardian stalked her through the twisting maze of gears that made up reality.

Thaidakar said, "hm? I cannot be here much longer, I have only right now to speak, I cannot talk right now, I impart some of my knowledge to you Doomslug."

The clockwork spider crawled across the turning gears, closing in on the aberration.

The vacuum-driver-turned-explorer continued to investigate unawares.

It was a being neither of light nor dark; merely order. Pure order.

It's word was law, its mind was eternal, it's code unchanging.
