RazeU Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Tried to bribe the kid working at books a million this afternoon. No luck
Guest Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Well after everyone's story on how they got the book early, I did *try* my luck at the local library today. So I, huh, found a 10 minutes free time within my insane schedule to stop by the mail and rapidly trek to the library... I innocently asked the vendor about a book "I couldn't find on the shelves ". I told him "Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson". He promptly responded by saying it wasn't released yet... so I played the ignorant innocent and said: "Oh really, I thought it was out already ". He admitted he had A LOT of Oathbringer into the backstore, but he wasn't allowed to sell them until Tuesday So tough luck. No early OB for me.
spirit he/him Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 I'm just hoping I can find it on Tuesday as it's not released in the UK until Thursday and it going to be next to impossible staying off the site for those two extra days with the answers so I'm driving to my closest city and searching every book store in the hope one of them will have mudled the dates

mariapapadia she/her Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Updates on my Oslo Oathbringer search : i ve been to 10 bookstores, but no luck one was out of stock(Whaaaaat?!) and on another one they were like "the release is on the 14th" "yes, i know, but do you have it?" " the release is on the 14th"(!!!!) If there is a good soul that found it in Oslo and they are willing to share the info, i would be really greatful
Ammanas Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) @mariapapadia Maybe the bookstore is expecting you to overcome three tests before they will give you Oathbringer. The three challenges being: the Breath of Adonalsium, the Word of Adonalsium, and the Path of Adonalsium. (In case this just sounds like crazy talk the precedent was set in Indiana Jones and Last Crusade) Edited November 11, 2017 by Ammanas 2

On the off chance that you must fight the guardian good luck and choose wisely. 4
Fifth of Daybreak he/him Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 (edited) I have three copies ordered, none of which I have a possibility of getting early. Audible and Kindle won't release early. Our computer overlords are cruel taskmasters indeed. I have to get my physical copy through Anderson's Bookshop so that way I can go to the signing and see Brandon again. If you meet him a third time does he have to grant you an RAFO? I tried to convince myself, that surely it's impossible to find it there if it wasn't anywhere in the middle of the city. I guess.. I'll just have to find something to make the time pass faster tomorrow. Sidenote, one guy at the bookstore thought it was called Oatbringer and he was like "ohh! is this a recipe book for oatmeal ?"

Aaaargh, I wish I had seen your post in time for you to get the book!! At least we only have 1.5 days left now and most of us will be reading it at the same time. I've rearranged my work schedule and told everyone to leave me alone for Tuesday and Wednesday so I can have two full days of pure Rosharan bliss.
DeployParachute Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Update on my POST from earlier: I went back to the bookstore and actually talked with the owner. She was quite amused at my determination to read this book ASAP, and said that if I wanted to pre-purchase the book now and read it on site, then she'd have no issues with that. I paid for it. I HELD IT IN MY HANDS. I gloried over the cover, the end pages. I took a peek at some of the artwork further in the book. Then it happened. My wife texted me. Told me that she and my daughter were done playing at the kids play area (the bookstore is at a local mall), and that it was time to leave. I handed the book back over, and took my receipt, telling the owner that I would be back... ...That was Saturday morning, and several household chores, a couple of family outings, a meeting with a realtor, dinner with friends, yard-work, and a few episodes of Stranger Things later and I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GO BACK!!! AAAARGHH. Why did I do this to myself? I don't know what would have been worse, knowing that I would have to wait until Tuesday like everyone else, or knowing that I COULD HAVE BEEN READING ALL WEEKEND if it hadn't been for normal life standing in the way. I am one of the ten fools and damnation is upon me. I'm going to try and go after work tomorrow, skipping the gym. Maybe they'll take pity on me at the store and let me take my copy home when I leave... 2
Blazenella he/him Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Ugh! Kelek's Breath I can't believe you people! Getting the book early... Just 1 more day... Stormfather why isn't it the 14th

Blightsong he/him Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 As someone who found it, if you really want to find and early copy, I suggest going to smaller, non-chain bookstores. Places like Barnes and Nobel are more likely to be under orders from management to not sell it early
skaa he/him Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 (edited) Aaargh! It's already November 14 here in the Philippines (a few minutes past midnight) and Google Play Books already shows a Read button for my pre-ordered Oathbringer e-book, but tapping it gives me a "No sample available" error. Stoooooorms!!! Edited November 13, 2017 by skaa 1
