This would help Brandon advance the story by separating Urithiru from Alethi society norms and social structures. At least I hope they get seperated otherwise Dalinar will never unite roshar. I have a feeling we are seeing May more often b/c she will be Renarin's love interest.

Interesting, the Renarin part, though I doubt May is meant to become a fighting girl: nothing indicates it is the case. For my part, I have been thinking Adolin secretly training Shallan will lead him to secretly start to train all of the female Radiants how to fight. It may be nobody else than him will agree to do it. This being said, I am really liking the idea May is the copycat killer... It may be Aladar's conversion to Dalinar's lead is a front... Convoluted, but I mean she must have a purpose.
king of nowhere Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 So far, almost every bonded spren we've seen was the gender the radiant was attracted to. kaladin a female spren, shallan a male, lift a male, jasnah a male, yn a female... dalinar is bonded to the stormfather, but that's quite a peculiar case. so somebody came up with the theory that renarin was gay because he has a male spren. Now, it is possible that the theory is just plain wrong and the spren genders we've seen so far were coincidences, or it is possible that glys is a female spren. but let's say there's at least a passable chance that renarin is gay, so may becoming his love interest is... well, no less unlikely than before, since every theory in this thread is very unlikely to start with.

Brandon has been asked about this. The gender of the Spren is not an indication of the KR's sexuality. Renarin referred to Glys as "he." Granted, Shallan is claiming to be an Elsecaller so his word doesn't necessarily have to mean much. Renarin has kept quiet about his bond for quite some time now, and Glys hasn't appeared or spoken yet. Mayhaps Glys has a reason for being secretive too... though what it might be, I have no clue.

My thought was maybe Aladar was converted over, but that does not mean his daughter was, or the rest of his lighteyes. And that like Adolin the copycat is investigating is just fun. 1

That means that Adolin has already tried to court her and it ended in disaster. Right? Well, the odds are good, no? It will be interesting to hear of her through his point of view. 1
