So theravenchilde on tumblr has this to share from LTUE:

Brandon talking about his writing schedule and some very, very minor Words of Radiance spoilers under the cut! (like, seriously minor. Tidbits. Morsels that are, completely seriously, entirely unrelated to the cut and definitely related to everyone’s favorite obnoxious princeling)

New detail I have never heard anyone mention: Stormlight Archives is meant to be read as two arcs of five books. There will be a time gap between two arcs and they will different set of characters, although there will be some minor crossover from those in the first set of five who survive.

Other tidbit: Adolin really likes fashion magazines. Like, he orders them out to the Shattered Plains and reads them constantly, to the point where a few covers are included in Words of Radiance. He is a baby fashion blogger. let me call him eridan This makes me wonder: Is there a Rosharan cosmo I have a mighty need

Okay writing schedule! This is basically the same as he’s said on his blog, with some small upd8s and other details. The schedule was prompted by a question about the fifth Alcatraz book, surprisingly not prompted by me but very dear to my heart regardless as that is my favorite series.

Alcatraz: will possibly be republished late this year/early next year by Tor, and if Brandon finishes other projects in time he will write the last one around the same time (if I understood him right, I will check my recordings)

Rithmatist two will be written this summer

Releases will be a little slower over the next couple years as well to let his assistants breathe. Publishing a book five months after he turns in a draft has been a little insane for them. This probably amounts to the 1.5 books ever year he’s been talking about. Mentions that basically his deal with Tor now is they can publish his books a year after he turns the first draft in.

Firefight will be published next January, since he just turned it in.

Way of Kings 3 will be written this fall. This series is Tor’s priority, since its big and makes them money despite the printing costs.

He’ll also work on the Legion sequel between now and the fall, probably as his break books between working on sequels.

He would also like to write another novella like emperors soul somewhere in there (wil check recording to see if he mentioned a date but I don’t think so??)

Elantris and warbreaker sequels will be much later, like, at least a year and a half, probably two to even get to writing them.

Shadows of Self, the Alloy sequel, will maybe be written after way of kings 3. I’m hoping for sooner rather than later for obvs reasons.

That’s basically all my notes? The other bits are observations about him, as in he is incapable of shutting up and ends up talking at least 50% of the panel, runs into chairs frequently, and plays on his tablet during panels when no ones looking.

Oh Brandon, reading the epilogue at LTUE before the book comes out. He did this for Way of Kings too. Of course, then he didn't tell people it was the epilogue.

I don't think it's such a good idea to post this one this time. Two weeks and two days, people.

Hey Brandon,

Can we expect to see a fight between a Windrunner, an Awakener, and an Allomancer in one of the Stormlight books?

Thanks for the amazing books!

Matt

I've said before that it's unlikely that the Stormlight books will ever delve strongly into the connections between worlds. There will be some cool things happening for the cosmere-literate, but this series isn't focused on those concepts. I want it to maintain its plot cohesion for those who aren't aware of all of the behind-the-scenes stories.

Epilogue to Book Two should excite you, though.

Sorry about the choppiness. I'm on mobile, though, so this ugly copy and paste is the best I can do. I'll edit it when I get a computer.

But yeah, it was in the site Q and A that happened a while back.

Wow this is the very first time I have seen mention of a piece of WoR material and thought "Nonononononononoooooo, I want nothing to do with that right now." Congrats to those who got to hear it though!

I am the exact same. If it does get posted, I'm posting an away message like Kurk. :P

Brandon stopped reading right as someone was about to show up. So it could be someone from another world, or it could have been someone significant from Roshar. The part he read was just Wit giving his opinion on something to somebody who didn't really care, much like in the epilogue to way of kings.

Oh ok, it sounded like you were saying he read the whole thing but you'd only share the non spoiler stuff.

I am planning to go! It'll be my first time. Any tips from veterans of the convention? Like, what is the dress code? Is it a comic-con type event where people dress however and cosplay, or is it more businesslike, or what? I noticed there is a cosplay panel in the program, so I'm a little confused.

It's a serious convention, for the most part. I would not come in cosplay, but nerdy tshirts and stuff are fine. It is majorly geared towards writers and artists looking to learn from people already in the business and do ground-level networking, so thats what 90% of the panels are about.

The other 10% is every single author gushing over Brandon, or Brandon gushing about say, Terry Goodkind.

It's a scifi/fantasy writing symposium, so more on the educational side of things, but it's a blast whether or not you're there for business and that sort of thing.

And as far as I know, mild cosplay is fine: I've seen one person wearing a Bridge 4 uniform, but going as Pattern or something might be a bit much.
