Hi, guys! I am alive!

Just...y'know...drowning in convention prep.

(I seriously need to convince more of you to come to JordanCon...)

Americans all sound the same

Well, Australian and New Zealand accents sound identical to me. So there. :P

There's also the sort of accent you get in the Midwest around Minnesota and stuff. I probably couldn't name all the kinds on the east coast. And even with the more standard, neutral American accent there's slight variations from place to place simply because of the size of the country.

And, interestingly, a lot of people, especially around where I live, seem to have differing accents based on who they're with. A lot of people I know say they speak neutrally at school but with a more Southern sound at home.

That northern Midwest thing sort of blends into some regional Canadian accents. The northeast has its own range of different accent types. Southern and Texan accents are subtly separate and distinct, and Southern has different subtypes. I imagine if I lived in the South, I'd be able to tell the difference between, say, Georgia and Mississippi accents.

I prefer the traditional, "Happy Zombie Jesus Day".

Don't be silly. Jesus wasn't a zombie, he was a lich.

Please explain.

I was trimming back an overgrown mint patch in our yard. :P

And now I want to read a book about an assassin or mercenary or something who's got a garden and he's just depressed and weeding it or something, like, "At least brutally murdering mint smells nice. Unlike people."

I'd read that book.

So how do people manage to post status updates and activity on their profiles? I cannot find the thing that lets you do this...

The option should be right on your profile. If you click on your profile picture, it should take you to a page that lists your most recent posts. At the top will be a little box, like the reply box in a thread, that'll say "Write a public message on your own feed." Start typing there, and you should be good to go.

Well, it doesn't seem to exist anymore on mine. I distinctly remember seeing it before, but no longer.

Mine doesn't have that. That was the place I expected it to be, and strangely enough it appears on other people's profiles with the message 'write a public messageon [blank]'s feed' but it isn't there on mine.

Huh. I checked your profile, Budgie, and I didn't see it either. I took a quick look at my settings, too, to see if it's something you need to enable, but I didn't see anything like that, so….no idea what's going on there. Sorry.

Ah well. Nevermind then.

If you click the + Create button up at the top next to the notifications bell (I don't think this works on mobile) then there should be an option to post a status update, as well as post gallery images and topics and such.

I've got Elantris, The Alloy of Law, and The Way of Kings checked out. I'm not sure which one I should read first. I kinda wanna read Elantris first because it's a standalone novel (for now, at least). Which should I read?

Follow your heart. Elantris is a great book for starting a reading spree. (b 0_0)b

@A Budgie Re: status updates, there is an option somewhere in your account settings that says "Enable status updates," and I have a feeling that might explain why you can't post if the box is unchecked.

@A Budgie, @Jedal

So if you registered since June 2016 up until Sunday, status updates are not automatically turned on and you have to turn them on. If you go to your Profile and hit Edit Profile, by the Basic Information, there is a check box to enable status updates.

I did not realize this was not auto-enabled and now with the latest update it is auto-enabled, but it isn't retroactive. Sorry about that.
