Toaster Retribution he/him Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Has it been confirmed by anyone? Because Ati just said "Vax" so by that we dont really know for sure that it is a place/planet.
Pagerunner he/him Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Maybe. Probably. Who knows? In the Elantris Ars Arcanum (new to the 10th anniversary), it's mentioned in a list of other planets we've seen. So, there's a strong implication there that it's a location, at the very least. Brandon has been especially tight-lipped on the subject. It becomes more and more apparent that he only gave us those two name-drops to specifically antagonize us. And he has succeeded.
Argent he/him Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 My very recent response to pretty much the same question (i.e. "maybe, probably, not sure").
Popular Post PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted November 23, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 23, 2016 VAX is a discontinued instruction set architecture (ISA) developed by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in the mid-1970s. 19

Yes, but it's also a brand that retails electrical goods and cleaning products in the floor-care sector, and which has its headquarters in the United Kingdom. Is this exactly ambiguity that has us all confused. Secret History spoilers Spoiler I mean, why would Ati speak of the Virtual Address extension before dying? Makes a lot more sense that he saw a Vax vacuum cleaner and got confused. 3

Kaladin al'Thor Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Na, Vax is a character on Critical Role...

Weltall Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 I thought Vax was what happened when a Discworld vampire tried to pronounce Waxillium's nickname. 3

I'm calling it: Vax is the world of the Dark One. Cause DO's world has a superpoweful constant electrical field. 4
PallonianFire he/him Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Wait, I thought Dark One was non-Cosmere... EDIT: From 2013 State of the Sanderson Quote Dark One. Non-cosmere YA novel. Still haven’t been able to get this one off the ground. I had a chance, but The Rithmatist worked better, and I wrote that instead. Don’t hold your breath on this one, though someday I might post the sample chapters that I wrote a few years back. Edited November 23, 2016 by PallonianFire

He's got a story, maybe it fits in the Cosmere, maybe it doesn't.

I've only ever seen Adamant as non-Cosmere, too. Isn't that a far-future SF story? Either way, more Cosmere=good

One of the things I’m thinking of doing is if I can maybe slide this into the cosmere, I haven’t decided yet. It would be really fun to get it in there, I think it could, I would just have to lose the Shakespeare line. That’s kind of hurting me because I like that line. So we’ll see if I can get it in or not… 1

EDIT: From 2013 State of the Sanderson From the 2014 State of the Sanderson: Quote Dark One This is a series I’ve talked about for a long, long time about a boy who discovers he’s the “Dark One.” Basically, it’s the classic epic fantasy story told from the eyes of the dude destined to try to destroy the world instead of save it. I’ve made good progress on the setting, which is going to be awesome. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the teen series I do once the Reckoners and the Rithmatist are both done. As a note for fans, this is a Cosmere story. 27 minutes ago, PallonianFire said: Wow, good to know. I've only ever seen Adamant as non-Cosmere, too. Isn't that a far-future SF story? Either way, more Cosmere=good On Adamant potentially becoming Cosmere: Quote [General Q&A - 41:50-43:46] Brandon Sanderson *Following a reading* That's called Adamant, and the premise that made me want to start writing it was this idea of basically Silence of the Lambs in Space. Right after this humankind is going to be betrayed by the "nice" aliens, who have given them this sidejack technology and helped them in their war against the violent Knockers. And it turns out they've been played the whole time, the "nice" aliens just wanted a nice race of obedient soldiers. They turn off the sidejack, it knocks out the entire command staff of the Armada and that leaves Jeff, who doesn't have one, who's not really a commander, in charge. He's able to grab the flagship and fly away with the Centurion in the brig, who is the greatest military mind that the galaxy has ever known. So what follows is the story of him trying to get the Centurion to give him advice on tactics in the war against the quote-unquote nice aliens while the Centurion is trying to figure out how to escape and get away from him. It's a very fun story, but it's not ready to be released. One of the things I'm thinking of doing is if I can maybe slide this into the Cosmere, I haven't decided yet. It would be really fun to get it in there, I think it could, I would just have to lose the Shakespeare line. That's kind of hurting me because I like that line. So we'll see if I can get it in or not... Bryan Thomas Schmidt Is it part of a series? Brandon Sanderson What I'm going to do is I'll probably do four or five novellas that build-- So it's like a novel told in novella form. I kind of imagine doing some episodes quote-unquote, right? And then have a six-episode season with the last episode being the end, so a mini-series basically. Kind of like what was done with... Wool, that's what it was… I think the the serial has a chance of coming back because of ebooks and things like that. 1
PallonianFire he/him Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Wow, I totally glossed over the 2014 SotS bit where he changed his mind. Thanks, guys!
